You are one of three archaeologists who I subscribe to on RUclips. You are the only one I faithfully watch. I find you professional, respectful, responsible, inspiring, comedic, playful, highly informative and a delight to listen to your random thoughts. You make me feel more steady on my days of self doubting and I hope with all my heart these truths can do the same back. All my best hopes for you & mrs soup🥰

I have enjoyed and appreciated the Archaeosoup content since I became aware of it a number of years ago. It keeps me up to date with current heritage issues and is always interesting and entertaining. Long may it continue!

You've helped many a people understand archaeology and importance to collective view of the contemporary world. Keep on keeping on.

I confess sometimes I listen because you have such a peaceful voice, then I have to listen again to get the details :) of what you actually said. I have loved archeology since I found my first arrowhead. There are so many noisy flashy people out there now, the sense of patience, of careful study, reasoned discourse, slowly constructing a schema seems lost. You bring it back.
You are valued, you are important.

When I was looking for a source for my paper, I found your channel-- maybe seven years ago? This channel not only brings so much joy and knowledge to my life, but has given me a wonderful friend and collaborator! And if you had never made this channel and not championed archaeology in a fun and engaging way, we might not have met. KEEP GOING IN SPITE OF THE KNOBS!

Hi Marc! Fellow archaeologist here :) Thanks for your candidness and honesty. I really appreciate the term 'wobbles' you mentioned and I get them as well. As a much newer RUclips archaeologist (who is slowly getting to know the rest of the RUclips community), this form of public engagement brings about a lot of feelings for me, and it was comforting to hear you speak so openly about yours. I've been following your channel for some time, and I appreciate the breadth of topics you cover and the consistency of your uploads. Regarding future content, I would love to see and hear your perspective on things that you're curious about or interested in. For example, you mentioned 3D modelling and seemed excited about it, so I would love to see what you do with that topic. Most importantly, I am wishing you well as you navigate this wobble and feel free to reach out anytime if you want to chat :)

A few years ago I went out on a limb and submitted a Question of Doom about the pyramid builders and their poo and you put out a rather thoughtful vid in response and I'm still grateful. Cheers, Mr. Soup!

Hi Marc, I enjoy all of your content. You are always thoughtful and challenging and generous. That is something rare for RUclips, from what I have seen. The world and archaeology would be better if there were more public figures like yourself. And, indeed, they ARE better for your contribution. I hope you can continue with this channel and also that you have the opportunity to make the videos you really want to make. I'll be watching.

I don't follow archeology much, yet I subscribed to you a long time ago and still watch regurarly. You have shed much light on the philosphy, ethics and politics of the field in a constructive, warm and thoughtful manner that has mnade me understand the wider importence and complexities of the subject, which funnily adds both mystique and clarity to it all! I wonder how many others are willing to go there?

One of best things about the internet is being able to find enthusiastic and knowledgeable people like you, who are willing to share what they know with people who aren't experts in anything but are curious about everything.

As you say, take comfort that respected colleagues occasionally wobble. You & they are only human. A change of horizon may help - perhaps concentrate on adjacent issues (say, modern history or archaeology in another country).

You make archeology interesting, unfortunately late stage capitalism only priority is adding wealth to the.01%. The world needs more places like the distillery. If museums would use it as A blueprint for becoming interesting to more people maybe you could be part of those projects.

I couldn’t agree more! The days of old where great minds gathered & debated or discussed in a public forum for any & all to attend at will to expand their knowledge has now become RUclips & scholars from many fields sharing freely their crafts & insights. Beautiful sentiment 💗
