Bronze Age collapse, metallurgy, trade rout establishments and subsequent settlements, etc, would all be huge components for economic development right?
Having interacted with a number of economists in the past, interdisciplinary efforts are not often their forte
Most economists within academia live in Cuckoo Land. There's also no real accountability amongst any of them. The worlds best economists are traders for privates hedges and international banks, and we RARELY if EVER hear from them. Wonder why? I'll let you surmise as to why.
Been following you for years now! Keep it up !!
Hi Marc, just wanted to throw my two cents in. I'm not so sure your experience is the result of a failure on the part of archeologists to communicate or to educate. Rather, as an American myself, I would think that an American economist isn't particularly interested in history in general and that perhaps his inclusion of a historical timeline is only a formality. That doesn't say much for Americans or American economists, I know, but is likely near the truth. I must say I don't hold a very high opinion of economists or economics as a study. But then I've never studied it. And though I don't have a degree of any kind, I think you're probably right about the siloing (?) of academia. Wow! Sorry for the long comment!
Who all might be invested in trying to triangulate academics against one another then when presenting your claim that when academics don't communicate then crucial connections are missed?
Huh?
