      Well-deserved! The first film is one of my all-time favorites (not just in animation, but in all types of film!) and I think the trilogy is pretty much golden. The sequels are slightly weaker than the first film but they still had some pretty impressive plot twists and stunning visuals. The actual hidden world sequence is more gorgeously animated than the entirety of Frozen 2, in my opinion. (And I liked Frozen 2, but Dreamworks really needs a win. They've only ever won an Oscar for Shrek and they deserve more gold from the Academy.)

    A bit strange to count Antonio Banderas when talking about diversity, and I've seen other people doing that. Ok, he's Spanish, but still a white man - and he's been in more English language films than ones in Spanish.
    Should we count British actors as diverse as well?

    • @novaprime4733
      @novaprime4733 4 года назад +7

      Well as white British is not the same as a white Spaniard, surely it could be counted as diverse.
      And him being in English speaking films doesnt take away from the fact he is NOT British, by that logic someone could claim; because a POC from a non english speaking country starred in an English speaking film, their 'diversity' doesn't count.

    "There have been three women in the past winning in this category, so that takes away a little bit of her edge".
    I understand that you are a big fan of women getting recognized, but if you think someone should have an edge because they are the first of their gender to get nominated, I think you have a problem.

    Joker is a great movie, but 1917 is astonishing... It might lack the messages of Joker and Parasite, but god that's a cinematic experience like no other... Still amazed at how they use the media to tell the story, it's incredible, what an immersive experience!

    If you’re talking about “genre” films and you include Fury Road in that, then wouldn’t you also include Lord of the Rings as well? LotR was of course very heavily honored by the academy and that made my geek heart much happier then Joker, which was barely even a super hero movie.

    I feel ScarJo’s performance in Marriage Story is strong enough for her, she didn’t need to be nominated in the supporting category as well. I feel that is a waste and pushed out someone else who would have deserved it.

      @jasonkonas 4 года назад +4

      @@eleven-hopper That's my second choice. Way better than I expected, but there were was a cliché in it, towards the end, that I thought was done really poorly that really brought down the movie as a whole, for me anyway. HTTYD was a great movie with stellar animation (especially that scene where they were flying through that dragon world, just wow). As an aside, Frozen 2 didn't deserve to be nominated and I am glad it didn't. Mediocre story, mediocre songs, forgettable movie.

    • @eleven-hopper
      @eleven-hopper 4 года назад +3

      @@jasonkonas Yeah, that one thing was pretty cliche and I saw it coming but I actually thought it was pretty well done. It was kinda fast but considering that I think it was well done.
      And I really love Httyd 3 (2 will always be my fav) but I felt like the movie was way too fast and the ending just felt really rushed. It was a good ending but I felt like it should've been more longer.
      And I am glad that Frozen 2 wasn't nominated either. The only part of the movie that I liked was just when Elsa was by herself. I think if it was just her the movie would've been a lot better.
