  • Originally an Italian grocery store in downtown Los Angeles in 1897, Galco's has evolved in many ways since. The soda specialty store moved to its current location in the Highland Park section of L.A. in 1955. In 1995, when John Nese took over the store (from his father), he focused on sales of independent sodas. There are over 700 different brands and flavors of soda. Some are cold, but mostly room temperature. A lot of them are hard to find, and some sodas are made exclusively for the store. Galco's also has liquor such as craft beer and wine, as well as a deli and a large selection of old-school candy bars.
Also known as Galco's Old World Grocery, as the sign is still left up. There is a historical marker that tells brief information on Galco's.
