    CLIP DESCRIPTION:
    The last round is a nail-biter as Rocky (Sylvester Stallone) struggles against Dixon's (Antonio Tarver) speed and strength, but Rocky's memories and the support of the crowd drive him to finish the fight.
    FILM DESCRIPTION:
    Sylvester Stallone returns to the director's chair for Rocky Balboa, the fifth sequel to the film that made him a superstar 30 years before. The movie begins with Rocky (Stallone) still mourning the death of his loyal and beloved wife, Adrian, who died three years previously after losing a battle against cancer. Rocky owns an Italian restaurant and spends his days living in his working-class Philadelphia neighborhood, visiting with his customers, and telling stories about his past. His grown son has a job as a business professional, but the relationship between the two is strained. Rocky's growing dissatisfaction leads him to attempt to purge the feelings of frustration and loss by applying for a boxing license. When the current heavyweight champion, Mason "The Line" Dixon (Antonio Tarver), needs to rehabilitate his image as a pretty boy who has never shown any real heart in the ring, his manager offers Rocky an exhibition match. This comeback allows Rocky to get his own life back on track, while also offering him the opportunity to help those around him redeem themselves and once again be a symbol of hope for the common man.

    I love that Rocky doesn't stay to hear the results. He doesn't need to, he knows he still has the respect from the crowd and it's enough that he tries his best.

      He does know how to slip and block
      He just uses a taunt strategy based on Ali
      It's about letting your opponent get angry and clumsy by swinging relentlessly and letting them get gassed out before knocking them out
      That's why he goes for body shots to make sure they can't recover and makes it harder for them to catch their breathe

    I like how when Rocky was going down the voice in the head was his own, picking himself up and talking about words that he told his son. He was the wiseman. In the past it had been Mickey's echo that helped Rocky get through these moments. I think it shows that Rocky had become a man by this time just how Mickey was to him. Mickey's purpose was complete. He told rocky "When i leave you, you'll not only know how to fight, you'll be able to take care of yourself outside the ring too"... Rocky now can do both, so Mickey's echo was able to disappear in peace.

    My dad and i watched this movie in theaters. And i remember him and i punching the air together for rocky, when the match ended we hugged because we had a huge fight and i told him i hated him so much, and i did not talk to him for a week. He took me to this movie because growing as a girl he showed me the rocky movies as motivation to push forward and never give up.... as i sat there pouting as a teen the movie warmed up to me and after the fight ended i grabbed onto my daddy and said sorry. It was the best movie he ever took me too because i never saw them in theaters, then this came out and he took me to it... i will cherish this movie because my dad passed away a year ago.... but i dont cry, i smile as i watch the scene and remember how much i love him.

      @@elwingy well in creed he wasn’t fighting at all. Training and LIGHT sparring sure, but nothing that would hurt his head. If you buy the dvd and listen to the comments Sly states that they considered having him win the fight but decided it made more sense to have him lose and show his character by leaving the ring before the decision. I totally agree. This movie isn't about winning a fight it's about having the character to move forward against long odds against you. IMHO this was the crowning movie to the Rocky series. A totally fitting way to end the story.

    • @Nuvendil
      @Nuvendil 7 лет назад +21

      Whether it would be possible is very hard to judge. Highly unlikely, but not impossible. It would depend on the older one's diet, lifestyle, how well he stayed in shape, what injuries he suffered if any, if he has any chronic conditions, etc. And it would depend on the younger guy too. This was an exhibition against an old guy soooo...how hard did he train? Did he go all out and get into full blown fighting shape or just get in good enough shape to sell it? And Dixon did suffer an injury early in the fight which helped Rocky's case. It would be very unlikely, but not impossible. Now Rocky at this age couldn't have a professional fighting career, but just one fight? Not likely, but not impossible.

    Sylvestar Stallone (well proud of this man) Although not a real boxer he has kept himself in really good shape especially for a 60 year old & I always looked up to him & still do to this day.Fine example of a man !!! & he's still pulling stunts to this day ;-) Also opened up the chapter for the up & coming actors for the years ahead,e.g. Jason Statham,Jet Lee etc etc Although they have already been on the scene but working with Mr Stallone has helped them move up the ladder & Well Done to them..

But at that moment - the way he's laughing - him and Rocky were the 'originals' from back in the day - still family, and the triumph in Pauly's laugh that was so sincere.....it was very very touching for me and I watch it often.

    What Sly said in character as Rocky to his son makes the rest of the movie redundant to me. If I got nothing else out of this film that made the price of admission worthwhile and I use that bit as my "go to" source for inspiration over the past decade.
