    While I agree on the volume wheel, I have to disagree with the overall conclusion. I find the H3 significantly more comfortable both in terms of the new thicker memory foam, and suede finish. To me the increased comfort alone is worth the extra costs. Even if The pads wear out quicker, its a trade off im willing to make and can always replace them. Hate pleather on skin as it makes me sweat.

    Still running my old Game Zero paired with their GSX 1000. Amazing for gaming and music.

  • @maxxx4275
    @maxxx4275 3 года назад +5

    I feel like the title is a bit click bate. I have had the H3 for a week now and when it comes to sound quality it is much better then my Hyper X Alpha, and leaps and bounds ahead of my Arctis 7 Pro. Directional sound in stereo is the best I have had in any headset.
    I don't care that much about how long the ear cups will last, EPOS sells replacements. I want good sound quality and a mic that is better then average. Is the build quality top notch ? I think it is for how light it is. People overlook the G Pro Headsets terrible mic quality, or the Razer headsets lack of quality control, and HyperX's insanely confusing naming structure.
    What I got from this review was. Great Sound, Good Mic, Good build quality for the weight, with the cons being cable noise (lolz) and ear cups that might ware out quickly. How is that overall a BAD headset ? What I am hearing is a Sennheiser fanboy mad that Senn is dead, I mean they could have had a single new idea over the last 20 years, but they just rested on their name and well, now they are part of a hearing aid brand ....

      Hey, just wanted to follow up and find out if your H3 is still going strong. I'm in the market for a new pair right now and my top contenders are the GSP 300 and the H3, which are within 5$ of each other.

  • @bogdanv.2941

    I've been rocking them for a couple of years already, still working perfectly.

  • @jantube358
    @jantube358 3 года назад +4

    Thanks for making an honest review! Many reviews are just too euphoric but this is good! It looks like we've got a successor for the GSP300 and GSP600 here which have never been top of the line headsets. I hope they engineer a true successor with a broader frequency response to the Game One but I don't know if they are capable to do that.
    Epos is still selling the 10+(?) years old Game One on it's website and I don't know any better open gaming headset, yet. (There is no PC38x in Europe.) The only alternative I've seen was the Audio-Technica ATH-PDG1A but that one looks really outdated.

      Hey there, I know it has been 2 years ago you commented and hopefully you see this.
      I’ve used GSP 300 for years now and just changed to H3. I’m wondering if you’re having the same experience as me where the sound quality on the H3 is way worse than the GSP 300? Like I physically cannot use it to listen music because there’s no bass at all, and in game (valorant) I can only pick up the sound of footsteps and gun shots, and all the other sounds are deafened.
      Would be great if you could share more details.

    I own the GSP 300. Great gaming headset overall, i really like it. But Dimitri, it is hard for me to believe that your earpads are in such an excellent state after 4 years of use. Mine barely last for 2 years before being torn open from the inside. I bought mine in 2018 and it has happened twice so far, both to the initial earpads and to the replacement earpads (bought from the official website). The replacement earpads are pretty expensive too. Around 20 euros (with shipping fee). You probably do not use them as extensively as someone who has them as his main headset and it is understandable of course since you must use multiple headsets for your job.

    • @larion2336
      @larion2336 2 года назад +4

      I don't get that either. Granted I'm not any kind of audiophile but I've never found a pair where the ears didn't wear off within a year or two. I have the GSP-350 and they are completely falling apart, I literally had to get a needle and stitch the sides back in (which worked pretty well tbh). Fortunately you can buy replacements. But yeah, pleather is not known for being long lasting, god knows every chair I've ever had with it has wound up on my carpet.

    • @stratvar
      @stratvar 2 года назад +2

      @@larion2336 That's exactly what i did too. I stitched the inner side of the earpads and they are fine for now. They clearly have a design flaw. It looks like they use glue instead of stitch in that area, so eventually that wears off over time and they open up like a chocolate bar wrap.

    It looks cheap, but not horribly so. The sound quality and mic is still excellent, it is comfortable. The sound was so closed in, not clear at all. Now my original set up was a Superlux HD668, and the best cheap mic around that rivals even other high end mics.....sony mic $10 back then and it was so good and stereo mic I bought 2! I used a mic/headphone y cable. The sound on these headphones are nice clean loud and dynamic but almost neutral and balanced which I love. Since it's semi open back the sound is super wide you can pick details and positions so well it's like your cheating. I would call it need studio quality sound. I have owned the superlux for 6 years with heavy use. Only reason I was shopping for a headset is because my 6month damaged my y splitter and I couldn't wait since it was the weekend for me to relax lol. $30 headphones+$10 is killer combo! I've had the HE for about a month and it's not that bad. I've had the GSP300 previously and I prefer the H3. I did buy a rubber replacement cable and use that instead of the braided cable so I don't have that issue. I don't think it's that bad of a headset. If anything, it's the $119 price that hurts them. Too many sub $100 headsets that do similar if not better.

    10:45 I play overwatch mainly, it's in a good state right now and the more you understand the game the more you like it (playing in masters is really good atm) I also play a bit of valorant, r6, quake but eu is dead rn so I can't play it much really.

    I bough EPOS GSP-370 for 180€ a little over a year ago and all I can say is, never EPOS again. Sound quality is maybe good enough for gaming, but far away from hi-fi music experience (one can get better sound with 60€ wired headphones).
    And then there are earpads... They started to fall apart just after a year of use. On inner side of earpad seam breaks (is only melted together) and foam protrudes out. That just shouldn't happen at that price range! I have more than 10 years old AKG K242HD headphones and they're still in perfect condition. Yes, I could buy replacement earpads (35€!), but it just isn't worth in long term.

    I am looking for a new headset as mine just recently broke. I am currently coming from hyperx cloud alphas and overall they were pretty solid in the time they worked. I am looking for something with a more solid and clear sounding microphone. In todays market right now with all the options out there, what would you go with?

    I bought them to eventually replace my game one headset. But I had to send them back. Not an upgrade from the good ol’ game one. Which is also quite cheaper than the H3 now.
    Also the volume wheel doesn’t adjust volume that much. Compared to their older models.
