He is criminally underrated here in the u.s. for his directing and acting. Just a talented bloke
Thought just the opposite
Small chance of him reading this, but Brannagh PLEASE do more Shakespeare films. This man is PERFECT for directing, starring, and writing films based on Shakespeare plays.
He's done most of the good ones, I think. What else is there left to do? Love's Labor...Won?
Victor Kong
Tragedies: King Lear, Macbeth, Antony and Cleopatra, Julius Caesar, Romeo and Juliet (since he loves modern remakes/reboots)
Histories: Richard II, Richard III, Henry VI Parts 1-3
Comedies (He was good in Much Ado About Nothing):
Midsummer Night's Dream, The Tempest, The Comedy of Errors, Twelfth Night, The Taming of the Shrew, The Merchant of Venice
Shakespear-like: Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, Live Adaptation of the Lion King (Originally was Based on Hamlet), Equivocation
But so many of those plays have already been done by his contemporaries and peers, and to great success too. Don't think it'd be much of a challenge for him to do them at this stage in his career.
Victor Kong Hamlet and Othello, both of which he starred and/or wrote and directed previously stared Laurence Olivier... eho Brannagh played in My Week with Marilyn. Trust me, it does not matter so long as he does it his way. Same with Henry V... previously done as a TV movie (by BBC I think).
Laurence Olivier was not one of his contemporaries. Branagh was the first to re-adapt those plays for a new generation. Since Branagh's Henry V, however, many of his peers have already made great versions of those plays - and he has no reason to try to redo what they did so successfully.
Kenneth Branagh nailed it during the London Olympics opening ceremony. He is undeniably one of the most prolific actors of our time.
"I could do it backwards"
thats definitely TENET he's talking about🤣
loved him in hamlet. He's the best!
Lia Cruz Loved him in that movie too.
It’s weird because I’ve never really heard of Kenneth Branagh before but in my English class we just watched the film version of Othello, and this video pops up in my feed. I was so surprised! I LOVED him as Iago.
I remember reading Othello in my English class too, and we got to watch his Othello, and it was a joy to watch. We loved his Iago.
Watch Hamlet 1996 version. His performance as Hamlet The Prince of Denmarke is Oscar worthy.
@@carol9909 As are many of his performances, especially the Shakespeare's.
Have you watched Harry Potter at all? He played Gilderoy Lockhart in the second movie Chamber of secrets. Amazing actor
@@aryastark772 no I have never watched any of the Harry Potter films to this day, 3 years later!
1:19 after seeing Tenet, I like how he says he could do it backwards
If anyone could do that, it's Branagh .
Alex Jbf Always
Damn right, when it comes to Shakespeare movies, Branagh's name is on my top list
His Benedick is the best Benedick.
Edit: His Hamlet was also good. His Shakespeare is just good in general.
I love you Kenneth Branagh.
Oh Lordy, he is the narrator voice from the BBC's documentaries: Walking with Dinosaur (1999), Beasts (2001) and Monsters - Life Before Dinosaurs (2005 - I'm not sure if it's really his voice)
Just watched The Murder on the Orient Express and man Kenneth Branagh is THE BEST Hercule Poirot ever!!!!!
yes, definitely! Even my mum says that and back in the 70s she was a big fan of the old Hercule Poirot. But now her favourite is Branagh :D
@@julianeh5584 Sir Kenneth is a huge fan of the 'old' Hercule Poirot (Albert Finney). In his book he describes getting all star-struck when he first met him. I think his performance in the new film is a beautiful tribute to Finney.
No, he's not. With all respect to him, David Suchet was absolutely superb as Poirot. I really love Kenneth Branagh, but I didn't feel Poirot's spirit in him ;)
David Suchet is the best Poirot
Pissed off, sarcastic Branagh is best Branagh. "Not elegant!?"
Gilderoy Lockhart
hot damn!
...There's a double meaning in that...
my favourite film of his!
stamford bridge Same!
WoW,in 2012 , !!! What moment.... Kenneth... Of my LOVE 💔💔🌹🌹😊😘....!!!! London.... 2012....
Love him❤️
I love Kenneth.
The best channel 😢💕✨👌🏻
And on top of that people thought he was Abraham Lincoln because apparently only he wore sideburns and a top hat!!!
Everyone knows his Gilderoy Lockhart #PotterHeads
Best British actor
He is Tenet antagonist believe me my time is reverse..
Omg! Exactly 😂
The slight ginger makes him friendler 🎉
One of Britains best moviemakers
Did he really do all these things? Or did he obliviate the minds of thoes who did? And just say he did all these things? If you don't know what I'm talking about you are dead 2 me.
Well i am in the same house he was in. Doesn't he have a great smile?
kenneth branagh back to marvel plase
I still did not finish Hamlet ...
Walking with dinosaurs.... this world will never know... #BBC1997
he is my dad
Did Dustin ever do Shakespeare?
Nobody, but absolutely nobody, not even L. Olivier, plays Shakespeare better than Branagh! Period. (Richard Harris came close)
WHAT WAS THE SPEECH ? SOMEBODY PPLS. WHICH SPEECH WAS USED/
☺️💕👌🏻✨
Hercule Poirot
Great IRISH actor.
YES, HE IS AN Irish ACTOR
Born in Northern Ireland in Belfast, as a protestant, Kenneth might consider himself to be just that little bit British rather than Irish.
@@johnking5174 in many interviews he considered himself irish ;)
Or just leave him to decide for himself. Quite sure he doesn’t tell you what you are.
Seems odd a Shakespearean actor needing a teleprompter for a few lines.
