I also calibrated my display myself so that’s a non issue. Safe to say I made the right call, fortunately.
@@whatsuphelp I used a spectrophotometer from x-rite. I would suggest using a more reasonable colorimeter though, much cheaper, I would’ve opted for that, but my friend lent me his.
Every time I watch these videos I forget that my Alienware ultrawide OLED being $800 when I bought it is the main reason it’s the best, because these prices are insane for what you’re getting.
@10:15 what happens to the picture quality if I have to disable adaptive sync while emulating 27 inch? I get over 480 frames in 1080p anyways so its not a big deal right?
At 13:23, this shows what I've explained to a few nerdy friends. You're essentially getting the same visual presentation or visual motion clarity of twice the hertz by using ELMB / BFI tech, assuming you turn the backlight / screen off for 50% of the time. Not all games can run at >300 FPS. If we can figure out a backlight that is both bright enough and can flicker fast & clean enough, if we manage a 75% off / 25% on time, then we could quadruple the _'effective'_ FPS in terms of motion clarity. Imagine playing a game that only puts out 175 FPS consistently, but it's going to feel like 700 Hz. They key is making sure the 25% 'on' time is towards the end of the pixel refresh window, when it's stabilized, so it's showing the intended color. Don't think this will ever work out in OLED tech, so crossing fingers for traditional. Maybe in a few yrs. Maybe Nvidia PULSAR will push the industry further.
Have they not got the coatings the wrong way around? What I mean is that, QD Oled reflects a purple colour, so, would that not be better to have a Matt finish to reduce this rather than glossy, and the WOled reflects black, so, could support a glossy screen better?
"LG has only claimed they cover burn in over email and not specificly stated this on this website and i dont think this is good enough" Amen! when you're spending an unholy amount on such an item. no pun intended. Bless your excellent work Tim!.
Would you be able to run your suite of test on an S95D or C? I know you don't do TV's but I would love to see how the best TV QD-OLED panel compares to what we are getting in our monitors.
I spent a few hours last night building a comparison spreadsheet of the top 4K 240hz monitors. The LG 32GS95UE had the best brightness and 480hz option, but I see you're saying that it's overly bright. The lack of DP2.0 and worse VRR Flicker was also a worry. The Gigabyte FO32U2P was the best competitor that I was thinking to grab at MicroCenter today for $1100, due to it's DP2.0 and lower VRR Flicker. Does DSC really not matter? I was trying to avoid it. Should I just wait for the Asus PG32UCDP now that it comes with USB-C unlike the LG? I'm also worried about low brightness which is why I really wanted the LG 32GS95UE and now the Asus PG32UCDP.
I have the Gigabyte FO32U2P and Asus PG32UCDP side by side right now. The desktop experience is brighter and looks better on the Asus than the Giga, BUT the HDR clipping is INSANE on the Asus. Watching HDR video on both you can see all the clipped areas on the Asus. Even in DisplayHDR 400 True Black it's blown out. Is there no way to fix this? I'm not sure how you could recommend this with this terrible clipping unless there's some EOTF tracking fix. You will literally just see white instead of detail like on the Giga.
It would be cool to get a table, with all oled matrices, to easily navigate the lineup. For example: 34" 3440x1440 175Hz = Glare QD OLED 26.5" 2560x1440 240Hz = Matt WOLED 26.5” 2560x1440 360Hz = Glare QD OLED
I see the over brightness banding on the 34 inch PG34WCDM WOLED as well. It actually just got a new firmware update, I'd love to hear your thoughts on this. It's as if every corona has an additional corona and is extremely visible in HDR gaming. I am actually getting rid of the monitor due to this.
When do we get 5k? 240hz? or maybe a 8k by 5k ultrawide? i would gladly pay early adopter fee if it provided high quality to go along with the high price!
@@S.V.23 Yet. It's actually fascinating thinking back on when they first showed off 4k back in the day with games hitting single digit framerates but everyone was still blown away. Only a matter of time till 8k becomes that new actually usable high end, very exciting

It’s Asus, it has to be the best. Presumably with awesome HDR just like the PG27AQDM and the PG42UQ. Not even mentioning the legendary customer service.

It’s not much worse, basically glossy looks better than matte but it’s not a huge difference. Matte is just focused on if you game in bright areas. But it’s not a huge difference like I said so it shouldn’t be a deal breaker
I heard we're getting 27"' 4k gaming oleds next year. So I'm gonna wait. All about that DPI.
Was gonna wait for this model, but I pulled the trigger on the LG model since I got it for $980 brand new after discount, I occasionally use the built in speakers and wouldn’t use any of the features Asus has added, albeit they are good additions. I also calibrated my display myself so that’s a non issue.
Safe to say I made the right call, fortunately.
how do you calibrate with software or on hardware level?
@@whatsuphelp I used a spectrophotometer from x-rite. I would suggest using a more reasonable colorimeter though, much cheaper, I would’ve opted for that, but my friend lent me his.
What discount did you get
never bought the ucdm because the glossy screen was impossible to use in my situation, happy to see there's a matte version now
Every time I watch these videos I forget that my Alienware ultrawide OLED being $800 when I bought it is the main reason it’s the best, because these prices are insane for what you’re getting.
Can you review some mini led monitors please
What is the length of default DisplayPort 1.4 which is included in the box? Thanks
The MSI MAG 321UP is only $799 right now (US). Food for thought.
"LG has only claimed they cover burn in over email and not specificly stated this on this website and i dont think this is good enough"
Amen! when you're spending an unholy amount on such an item. no pun intended.
Bless your excellent work Tim!.
So the alienwear aw3225qf isnt king anymore? That was fast
Would you be able to run your suite of test on an S95D or C? I know you don't do TV's but I would love to see how the best TV QD-OLED panel compares to what we are getting in our monitors.
nice review does the subpixel layout make pc and ps5 games blurrier or is it just desktop - thanks
Why not a woled glossy option????? WHY???
When will the monitor be available for purchase? Europe
Is there always a blinking led on the button?
Will the UCDP get a Dolby Vision update at a later date?
Is there a statement from Asus on this?
What is the sensor beneath a monitor? What would happen if it will be covered?
Would love to see a review on the Samsung Oled G6
hey mate, would this black frame insertion help combat burn in?
Pg32ucdp has anti flicker right ?
Monitors unboxed is great with coffee in the morning. What would you recommend given all the 4K monitors for best VRR?
did you create an HDR profile in windows first, using the HDR calibration app?
It would be cool to get a table, with all oled matrices, to easily navigate the lineup. For example:
34" 3440x1440 175Hz = Glare QD OLED
26.5" 2560x1440 240Hz = Matt WOLED
26.5” 2560x1440 360Hz = Glare QD OLED
I see the over brightness banding on the 34 inch PG34WCDM WOLED as well. It actually just got a new firmware update, I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.
It's as if every corona has an additional corona and is extremely visible in HDR gaming. I am actually getting rid of the monitor due to this.
When do we get 5k? 240hz? or maybe a 8k by 5k ultrawide? i would gladly pay early adopter fee if it provided high quality to go along with the high price!
There is no PC that could run 240 frames at 8K lmao
@@S.V.23
Yet.
It's actually fascinating thinking back on when they first showed off 4k back in the day with games hitting single digit framerates but everyone was still blown away.
Only a matter of time till 8k becomes that new actually usable high end, very exciting
When you're comparing the brightness to the qd-oled version of this monitor, which mode did you have the qd-oled set to? You don't have that listed which could be misleading.
video design feed back. As you transition from feature to feature can you keep the same type on the same side of the video? An example would be moving from the up close pixel configuration @4:27 with QD on the left and W on the right to font clarity @4:46 with the W on the left and QD on the right.
Thank you in advance
Hey Tim, could you please consider making the "more advanced calibration guide using Calman" you mentioned in the "How to calibrate your monitor" video on HUB? Thanks in advance!
How goes the glossy coating compare to an LG c2?
I have an older LG 32" VA monitor, G-Sync, Matte, non HDR, and I love it. I only game at a maximum of 85hz, but I'm really looking into OLED. Just not sure what I want to get
please release a guide for this monitor OSD settings, color profiles and other things.. thanks for the review, ordered one for myself today.
Any plans to review any of the KTC brand monitors flooding Amazon right now? Their price makes them very attractive.
I’m so torn between the M and P models I’m not sure the 1080p will look good enough to make the higher frames worth it and prefer the glossy display.
Same here man. I think I’m gonna lean towards the M because there are better sale prices going on with that one.
@ ended up buying the M and it’s incredible!! Glossy screen is what I really wanted and the 480hz looks terrible at 1080p
The very few of us that use Tobii eye tracking have to somehow convince Asus that Tobii is fren and they need stop putting their controls bottom center so we can stick our eye tracking there.
any moniter make Netflix smoother frame rate ?? same oled TV
please review some of the INNOCN mini-LED monitors. They look interesting.
It’s Asus, it has to be the best. Presumably with awesome HDR just like the PG27AQDM and the PG42UQ. Not even mentioning the legendary customer service.
Please if the risk of burn in of this is real if I use it almost only for music production ?
Please help me
@Doctor0Who well if it happens in 5+ years I’m fine but does it ?
If this was glossy, this would have been my choice.. Even though I would like to try out glossy vs matte myself. But when paying so much for an oled monitor i would like the full potential of oled to be apparent
Does this do BFI at 240Hz UHD? How does the Ufo look like with that?
Does this anti flicker version of that monitor come to the pg 32 ucdm?
would elmb reduce burn in rate since the display's only on half the time?
The LG 32GS95UE has received a firmware update since your last review. Can you do a revisit?
How is this monitor with banding?
asus pg32ucdp support dolby vision or not ?
what are the thougts for pricing ?
