God the music for Final Fight 3 is ear-splitting. Also thank you Jeff for the retro videos this year - I’ve been on maternity leave since September and had a lot of late nights/early mornings and these videos have been perfect for those, or to help fall back asleep at night after feeding the baby.
I scrolled down just to see if anyone had mentioned that god-awful skull-piercing flute(?) bit that repeats for fucking EVER in what seems to be one of like three tracks total in Final Fight 3. Right there with you!
I think they were trying to replicate the lead synths of early 90s hiphop, in which you'd use a synth with a tunable filter and pump the resonance to maximum and pretty much play the overtones ... and in this case they don't quite nail that sound.
You may already know by now, but just in case: Popo Team is straight-up Anteater, an arcade game that has you snake an anteater's tongue through a mound. It's pretty rad. I only learned about it a few years back during an arcade expo.
@jeff you should look into that pretty nifty Mister OBS plugin that has the capablity to change the scene and game title based on the title. Not that hard to set up really.
It's funny when you said FInal Fight 3 came out in 1995. That's the year I got my SNES. Being the kid of Mexican immigrants and us being broke made me live my gaming life a generation behind for a while. I got my NES in 1992, but it got lost in a move later on and I got a SNES on Christmas Day 1995. Looking back at it now, it's wild to me that I would get a system effectively at the end of the generation. And I actually used to rent Final Fight 3 quite often from the local video spot. I have fond memories of that game.
40:50 Final Fight 3 was released on '95. Street Fighter 3 New Generation was released on '97. Callman looks like Dudley. Is there an official link between them? Am I crazy?
My family's first ever computer was a Tandy 1000 ex. That we bought from the Radio Shack down the road. It was kind of a technical Marvel at the time, having EGA graphics and the three voice sounds. It was a complete Beast compared to my buddies CGA PC
merry christmas jeff, final fight 3 is indeed the best one. that soundtrack is absolutely incredible, i always wondered why it didn't reach the same legendary status as turtles in time or mega man x
Hi Jeff! Next time do the SMB Special rom hack by "frantik" It's an extremely faithful conversion of the game to the SMB 1 engine. They even kept the oversaturated sky. Works on MiSTer of course ;)
Limited continues were the worst part of console beat-em-ups. I know, the games were short and they had to find a way to make people think they were getting more value for money than they really were, but when the difficulty was also as cheap as in a quarter-munching arcade game, it was a very bad thing.
I want a game called Final Barrel where you're the maintenance person above these levels trying to contain barrels that have gotten loose and are now rolling below.
Jeff, I'd love to see you cover some of the Neo Geo core hacks for artificially increasing the CPU speed to reduce slow down in games. Apparently there is a rom hack of metal slug that anticipates a faster CPU and, in combination with an overclocked 68000, runs very well.
The palettes are under the Audio & Video settings for the gb core and the filters are in the Video Processing section. If you are missing either the pallet or filter files they might be available in update_all
@@steve43ful Thank you for pointing me in the right direction. :D Found a setting I feel is good. Trash Uncle DMG_Clean filter with Screen Shadows set to ON.
I think after 30 years, it's OK to judge a game on it's own merits instead of where it released in a consoles life cycle or even in relation to other games in the series. And playing beat-em-up's alone is serial killer behaviour. A beer and an old pal are required.
Oh hell no! I see that thumbnail, I'm not falling for that again!
I came in because of that thumbnail. In for the music choking on itself and Jeff dying between screens
Jeff, you're helping me keep sane while I wrap hundreds of Christmas presents. Thank you, sir.
Mega Duck? I have no clue what you're talking about. I'm over here enjoying some games on my shiny new Cougar Boy.

First I've heard of it, sounds neat!
Can I request that the time be in the same font that time would be on shitty anime rips?

Sound effects and voice samples as part of the music. You can really see the Ballz 3D influence

Could you possibly do a stream of all the Bonk games?

This is quite the Genesis ass soundtrack in Final Fight 3.
Is Super Kong based on any game? It's actually pretty neat
Based on a true story

The dmg filter for the Gameboy core looks so amazing. I never knew that existed for the MiSTer! Anyone know how to get that?

Put Fat Jack in Street Fighter 6
Wow my memory of Final fight is a little off. In my head there was only Dean. Cody never existed. Oops
when will we get an msx flavored g fuel?
I Prefer Final Fight CD's Ost than the original one's. It's the best. When's the last time you played Saturday Night Slam Masters?
Thank God, people out here waiting for Starfield for months when us normal people have been waiting for Sex With Hitler 2

Put Callman in Street Fighter 6, you cowards!
Could you reduce the number of ads? Right now it’s literally every 2 mins. 😅
