I hope that people who have made negative comments here come to appreciate the skills and imagination of this guy someday. Those are the hallmarks of any good inventor. If you happen to dislike the project at hand, move on. He's not in the business of pleasing you. He's in the business of finding the limits (if indeed there are any) of what is possible. This person is one of the rare people who not only thinks outside of the box, he doesn't even think there IS a box. I admire him no matter what he works on.
My friend, when you get off your pulpit stick your suggestion where sun doesn't shine! Everyone should speak their minds without sensor. Just my opinion. Ps. You can get a air pump at Walmart for $10.99.
air pump walmart= couple uses and straight to trash passing down a handmade air pump made out of an old shock= priceless cant expect everyone to get that though.....
Yes, Yes, and Yes INFINITY! JOE WOODCHUCK, your comment is Genuine TRUTH! Thank you for posting just the message WE ALL need to be reminded of from time to time. Blessings to everyone watching. May this crafter continue to work with his mind and hands and create only the best and brightest which could only be influenced by God, the one and only Heavenly Father.
You ever think these videos aren't made to save a few bucks or to get something done quickly and cheap? I think they are made to stir the imagination and innovation of the viewer. To encourage vision which takes time. I can only imagine how many of our greatest inventions started off as "Big wastes of time" to the general public, when something quicker could have been done. Why waste a bunch of time developing the light bulb when you can quickly strike a match? We know the benefits now after the story is complete. Visionaries see the ending at the very beginning.
At first I thought that’s a crazy amount of work to make a simple pump. The more I thought about it, being a pump is immaterial, the Joy is in the making. Beautiful project, and yes I liked it.

Great skills and innovation! I enjoy watching your transformations. A great way to show others how to re-purpose things - especially where there may not be the retail choices that others have. Thumbs up on your work!
I absolutely did not see that coming. Brilliant use of the materials. I was expecting legs or some kind of cabinet hardware. You might have inadvertently turned me into a parts hoarder, and opened up some creativity in myself.
Absolutely amazing. I was actually thinking while watching this, I could adapt the same idea and make a replacement hydraulic ram for my horizontal bandsaw using 90% of the same ideas as you
Till today i didnt know whats Inside shock absorber. Very creative and I would say delicate work. The way you dealt with small cuts and parts is really creative. I will wait for more videos.
Dear HandCraft, The first thing I saw was your hands and I thought this is my dad! No fooling! Both parents raised 9 of us and both had a work commitment. How many 8 y/o's in '67 and today learned how to wash out diapers in the toilet then rinse and ready them for the wash. They really had it tough growing up pretty much like the rest but family stuck together and almost lost dad in the WWII twice. Near misses...A Jap torpedo went under the bow of the gasoline ship he was on as it raised up in rough waters and another time he felt the heat of a Jap snipers bullet pass his head on deck while writing to mom. He decided to finish letter down below...Nother words, I wouldn't be here a writing. But anyway, you sir are amazing! I bet there isn't anything you can't tackle? Dad taught us all but though I'm close to symmetrically equal I do not have full use of my right side. But I can sure think things through and even better when my hands are on it...Remember folks, whether or not it is out of necessity, there's a special love for hands on creating, we all catch up sooner or later in that department. It really is fun! Apprenticeships must come back in every field...Thank you. Sincerely, Don Suiters Clearwater Florida USA
I'd love to let you loose in my workshop with access to all the equipment one could wish for. Fantastic skills with minimal tools my kind of bloke big thumbs up
This trick is also great for building captured nuts, I’ve built several for applications where you cannot reach the back side (such as manual trans swaps where a bracket bolts to dash support
I had no idea where this was going...but im glad he is using his skills to make something. Need more people like him in this world to inspire people to build and not just buy. Recycle re-use
It is not about $5 or $10 item, it is about a creative ideal. It is about a father, an uncle... who is able to make a bike pump for his son or his niece/nephew... if someone had made me this pump when I was a kid, that would have been one of the best gift of my childhood. Thank you for the video my friend, you are such a skillful person. I wish I have a guy like you in my shop
My Dad had the same revelation about growing vegetables. When he realised it took about 200hrs labour to produce veg for about two months consumption. That is with the hope the weather and crop is favourable. He found it cheaper to buy. He found other things to do with his 200hrs freetime.
Owen O'Neill Aspiring fruits and vegetables producer here from home. We can of course buy all we want for less but there is a sense of satisfaction to use that quality free time with you family to work with your kids on growing your own potatoes, cucumbers, tomatoes, strawberries and cranberries then see the results of that joint little project coming to “fruits”. Much more satisfying adding some skills to your and your family’s repertoire than just buying & consuming. And... it tastes much better!
I recently discovered your channel - well RUclips A.I. did by putting this in my recommendations - and am super glad because I'm really impressed. Beyond your skills and amazing creativity, I really like that you aren't explaining anything and videos are immediately showing you building something. Not only am I learning things, it's really fun trying to guess what you're creating. This pump blew me away, had no idea what type of pump you were creating until you screwed on the hose! Anyone that dislikes your videos doesn't get the point and frankly are the people that will be first to die when a great apocalypse hits. Yourself and those of us with skills will survive in the under world.
Brilliant work...when the apocalypse arrives your skill will be much in demand. You should work for NASA making rockets out of old sewer pipes and rocket parts out of old car parts save them billions perhaps trillions of dollars. Love your ingenuity!!!
That is an incredible amount of work for something worth so little. Maybe in a post apocalyptic world this would make sense, but this is just a waste of your obvious talents.
@@spangy8405 that’s money unwisely spent. I suggest a generator, a fridge, lot’s of your favorite icecream and one bullet in a slam pipe to end it when things gets too rough. Enjoy!
Grinding away & cutting on a gas-charged strut - a really for real excellent way to end up at the local ER or county morgue. Between removing the highly compressed coilspring & dealing with the gas pressure, it's just a Darwin award in the offing.
You amazing 🙋♂️❤Build a self-defense device with the same equipment that can deliver one or more strong blows. For example, you can use a small pcp air cartridge cartridge for the source of the impact force and a spring to return the striking arm.
Very clever. You won another sub. I had big ideas a few years ago of making a suppressor out an old steering shock...then I found out that it's illegal.haha.

Match/lightbulb
Cheap airpump/ridiculously expensive air pump
Try again pal you make no sense
Yes, true but not in this case. Nice try.
Exactly! I can use the same technique, with small modifications, to make a linear actuator or a pneumatic actuator for example.

Abby Babby Yes you would have to consider it a hobby because that is not time well spent.
Abby, its like the old adage, "It is not so much the destination as it is the trip along the way". Always enjoy the ride, no matter where you go.
