They roll the eyes, cluck the tongue, hiss the teeth and slam doors and then do what you tell them, we are coaching them to sin and into delayed obedience. Pastor when I was a psychology major we were taught that no matter the attitude and the delayed response, the fact that the children 'eventually' complied was what was important. I disagreed with my lecturer, partly because at the time I was a mother of five and was not allowing those types of behaviour and the other reason was because I was a Christian and everything in me rebelled at that type of teaching. Now, counsellors teach clients and children these things and the sins have spread like a virus, even to places where children were brought up to obey their parents. We ought to obey God rather than man. Thanks so much for your spiritual guidance and insight I had to repent of a lot after hearing this message. Thank you Lord.

Wow, what an amazing sermon! It really made me think and evaluate my parenting. My problem is, I wasn't raised in religion by my parents. My grandparents were catholic and took me to church as a kid. When I got pregnant before marriage at 23, I decided I wanted to try to go to church because I believed in Jesus and wanted to raise my kids that way. But the church people were very cruel because I was a young, unwed mom, and I didn't go back. Fast forward to now, I am a born again Christian and my kids are 17, 13 and 5. I am finding it hard and I don't know where to start since I neglected this very important part of life. I realize how important it is and I want to raise them to love Jesus. But I'm not sure I really know how or am qualified to do so. And my daughter is 13 and it's much harder to try to get her to go to church and take it seriously. Prayers and advice/wisdom appreciated!

@melissadavis796 It's never too late to pray for your children.
My situation was similar to yours - and as a single mom, I tried to raise them to know Jesus Christ, and to read their Bibles for themselves before following anyone's theological doctrine.
But I wasn't always consistent, and I didn't always set a good example.
I cannot blame my own upbringing (my mother was abusive), nor can I blame the unkindness of people in several churches that my children and I attended throughout their childhood years. I can only admit to God and to them that I could have set a better example by doing God's will instead of just doing my own will, and to ask for God's forgiveness as well as my children's forgiveness.
They're now 43, 41, and 35 and have families of their own. And I pray for them that God will keep them close to Him.

My children were raised as pagans. I am a recent born-again Christian, through God's grace. Listening to this sermon has me reflecting on how badly I messed up. It's regardless of how my parents did. My mother was an alcoholic who slept around and had multiple divorces. My father married after my mother, and his second/ current wife was abusive to my sister and I. My choices are mine alone, not theirs. I'm now praying for my children and trying to guide and teach my 2 youngest. My 18 year old son has a horrible attitude problem, and it's moving to his fiancé's parents' house, 2 states away. My 11 and 16 year old are more receptive. I'm working on becoming a better mother and being more consistent through praying for help and guidance from our Heavenly Father. I pray for my husband constantly also, as he's not Christian, and he's kind of absent as far as the family goes. He's checked out since the beginning. I'm praying hard, because that's the most important.

Please stop all screen time until your child is at least 2 years old. Also NO toys that run on batteries or electric because it way overstimulates a child and they don't develop enough imagination. Screens rewire babies' minds and connections. Also consider homeschooling and finding a church that is Biblical.

I don’t want to discipline him for something he can’t control and I struggle to know if his autism is showing up in certain “bad” behaviors. I know discipline is important and raising him up in the Lord, just don’t know how. I’m trusting that the Lord will lead me in those three things Voodie mentioned. Pray for me also.

I'm on the autism spectrum. I don't know if he's high functioning or not. But for me, cutting out any artificial foods such as dyes, flavorings and sweetners made a massive difference for me and my autistic niece. Cut down or preferably cut out sugar. Get rid of any non natural carbs. Buy organic if you can afford it. Get a water purifier too. I use zero water. Make sure to add a bit of electrolyte drops back in since the water is too clean and it needs minerals. You should see a big improvement with this changes. God bless

As women we all would love to have those types of men you mentioned above. The problem my sister, is that like US, men are sinful and prone to erring. All our righteousness are as filthy rags and its only as we draw close to Christ and repent of our sins as they are revealed, then and only then can men and women become more like Christ and begin to reflect his character through ours. In our sinfulness, even when we are being corrected through the instrumentality of anyone that God chooses to use we will reject the correction. A heart not right before the Lord will not accept correction or leading down a true path. Blessings.

I didn't have children because i wanted a Godly man. My church had 5 old men, that was it. I dont know if I'll get married, forget about kids. That's not happening unless i take matters in my own hands.

As an old woman I didn't learn these things. An unmarried priest who spoke in Latin...my parents only argued, my mother worked so I thought that's what women do, especially in the women's lib era. I messed up.

Talking about qualifications and responsibilities is one thing. But talking about getting married like we can just wake up one day and go apply for it like a job is just unbiblical and stupid. You get married when God says it's time for you to get married. And it's time to get married when you find someone who God clearly wants you to marry.
