As an Evangelical Law Professor from Portugal, I started reading and studying the Church Fathers as I worried about the corrosive effects of new-marxist and post-modernist acideologies and decided to become a Catholic. My wife and 21 year old boy decided to do the same.

    I’m a Catholic Highland Scot..
Yes we had the straw kicked out of by the Anglican Aristocracy.
We were only able to build Catholic chapels were only build after 300 years of bigotry, which has not ended. Yes, we are second class citizens. The fight for our identity goes on . Yet, our faith/ ideology goes on, the light of Christ goes on as it did during our those years of persecution.

if memory serves, the Tridentine Mass was an attempt to unify or standardize the Latin rite Mass which over the centuries had developed all kinds of variations all over the place. Not only the ambrosian rite which still exists, but various religious order rites, not to mention the many dioceses.

I’ve been watching the YT channel “Reason and Theology “. Michael Loftan’s channel. He is working on a doctorate in magisterial and papal authority. Very balanced and hopeful. He used to be a Protestant, then a Radical Traditionalist Catholic, then a true obedient Catholic and not critical of our authoritative Church teachings or the Pope and brings a very balanced and intellectual approach to what people say the Pope says and what he actually says. His insight is invaluable and excellent.

One of the best interviews I've heard in a long time. I'm a big fan of Michael Knowles, and it used to bother me that some of his best talks, like this interview or his lecture on Donte, get relatively so few views and interest, while his comparatively lowbrow political shows get so much, but it doesn't bother me anymore. I realize that to be a Catholic is like being well-read or thoughtful these days, it's puts you in a small group, and we shouldn't aim to be loved by the world. I hope Michael keeps doing serious interviews and talks like this.

With all due respect, both of these Catholics need to take an Ecclesiology 101 course.......Michael Lofton is a Professor and teaches a course on the Magisterium at a college. He would make a great guest on this show. Unfortunately, it's probably not gonna happen.

The councils of the Catholic Church determined which books belong in the Bible. That process wasn't completed until the 4th century A.D.
And it's not the RCC. It's just the Catholic Church. There are over 20 other rites. "Roman" (actually "Latin" is the correct term) is just one of them but they are all in communion with each other and have the same teachings. Unlike Protestant or Orthodox.
