They are fairly common around Aberdeen. Many years ago I chased a ‘faulty’ boiler, a Vaillant if memory serves, which had an intermittent fault.
Couldn’t get to the route of the fault.
I didn’t do one basic check!
After contacting the agent and attending site, we discovered that on light up, the inlet gas pressure dropped to about 9 mb for a few seconds.
I hadn’t checked it previously.
On checking at the meter box, it turned out the breather tube was kinked inside, and didn’t let the regulator ‘breath’ or operate quickly.
This caused the dip in pressure.
I’ve never forgotten the fault.
Stick to the basic rules and follow procedures. Thanks for an informative video. Every days a school day!
Thanks for the video, they’re always put across in a really approachable way that makes it as easy as possible to understand (as easy as the gas industry is to understand!)
All the best Allen.
Cheers for the explanation from you and Russ ....brilliant knowledge, got a few of those MP set ups around our area.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Brilliant video 🔥👏. Thank you Allen and Viva training, very informative and very helpful. Hope to see more throughout the series.👍👊
Glad you enjoyed it!
Moved to Dublin from the UK, and had an issue with a medium pressure system. Had the nicest chap come from the gas board to get me out the preverbial. Turns out we were both avid fans of you. Keep up the top work.
You know how to make someone smile. Thanks so much for your kind words and support. ❤️
Great video and the questions asked at the end really helped to remember the information 👍
Fantastic as always great vids Allen. Mp meters are quite rare down my neck of the woods. So only see them every 5 years in the training center. Good vid to refresh the mind!!!
What a great video really well explained. Only seen 1 out in the field myself. So great to have it thoroughly explained 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Great wee refresher video, thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it
Well done Alan.
Very well explained Russ.... thanks 👍
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you
Really helpful 👍
Great video. Thanks
Thank You
Exelent info thanx
I’m a gas work at Australia under APA
Very knowledgeable video for young workers
Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
I’m on my ACS this week and I know I’ve got to do this tomorrow
Great video, thank you very much. It would be great if you could make a video about testing LPG installation and regulators, i.e. testing UPSO and OPSO, tightness test and let by test. Looking forward...
Great training Vid and explanation of MIV Valve not always fitted i have come across a few old house without them.
Very helpful. Fab video. Thanks
Thank You. When are you starting the training? Thanks.
Allen Hart September 21st 😁 can’t wait
Great vid Allen 👍
Thank you very much.
Great video Alan and co , outside Belfast most towns are mp so great educational video for the trainees and us oldies also lol
Last time i seen one was on my ACS 😂
Really good video good explanation thanks. Been a while since i seen one
Last time i seen one was on my ACS 😂
Good video mate, cheers 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Super Allen and thank you
Thank You
Great video 👍🏾
Thank You
Great video Alan ....I recently seen a medium pressure meter with no toggle lever or button. Just wondering would that be tested as a normal low pressure system? It was definitely a medium pressure meter so got a little confused with it. I do have pictures lol
New towns like cumbernauld, livingston are full of high pressure meters..
Hi thanks for your video,i have enquiry in terms of purging and testing a PRS29/REGULAR ,could you more explain to me thanks .
I thought I'd subscribed weeks ago, but no no! Clicked on ya last night and think your content and work is honest and excellent.
I see you have a future apprentice in your profile pic.... My 4 year old daughter kicked my liquid PTFE thinking it was glue 😜
Just one question please if you get time, just give a reply, please and thanks!!
Baxi combi 600/800 range or
Viessmann vitodens 100 range to heat normal 3 bed semi with 10 rads.... Which one should I go for?
Why are there single and two stage regulators? Also would it be at risk if the carcass enter semi concealed meter box through the rear
This stuff just makes me miss being out on the tools so badly lol. Can’t wait for the test centre to open back up so I can do my refreshers and get back into the industry
What have you been doing?
Allen Hart I used to be contracted to a housing association, I’m sure you know what they are like. I ended up hating boilers so much I went to work In the funeral industry, great job satisfaction but just not the same feeling as fixing an old persons boiler at 9pm.
But with the likes of your videos and baxi, just makes me really miss problem solving.
Keep up the videos mate, I like others truly appreciate them and only wish I had these when I first started learning, would have helped a lot!
@@peterhyatt6751 Thank you and good luck.
I'm looking to upskill to medium pressure with the area I'm now covering has a lot of medium pressure installations.....can you advise how much & how long the training program would be please.
Hi, thanks for this, is there a reset button? thx
Nice video guys my problem is I always blow the water out the garage with the toggle valve surely there is a better way
Electronic gauge?
HIya,I think that gas valve is non compliant as it has to fall off and not on at risk?
It’s in a test centre so it probably a fault they have to identify
I share this with Graham Hill (he works at MANCAT) he find this useful.
Thanks
As a trainee i came across the medium pressure meter. However my engineer didnt want to remove the meter on a install, as he put it could cause problems. Is the procedure the same as removing E6/U6/G4? Even in training the temporary removable for hot works has never been discussed
The procedure is the same as for low pressure. Once the gas has left the regulator, it's at the usual 21 mbar pressure. The meter is just an ordinary meter.
At what pressure do you attach the monometer for the medium pressure test?
Your question doesn't make sense. It doesn't matter what pressure you attach the manometer. It matters what pressure you do the test at.
Forgive the stupid question but what is the difference between low pressure and medium pressure tightness testing? Is it the size of meter and amount of gas coming into property?
The safety features on the medium pressure meter get in the way of tightness testing (Under Pressure Shut Off shuts off at let-by test pressures, so you have to reset it before & after let-by test). Lock-up pressure is lower; if there's no Meter Inlet Valve you have to do the test 2 mbar lower than normal to avoid lock-up.
This was an acs question, what do you do if an MIV was not present?
I had it today on my ACS..I went with contact meter supplier and it was right
@@kevinwilliams1421 thank you
Where is the Temperature Stabilisation test? Is there any reason why this was left out?
He kept saying leave it for 1 minute
Alan correct me if I’m wrong but that main ECV is falling to on 😮
Sorry just watched the rest of the video 😂😂😂
Kenny Donnelly Yes that’s absolutely correct, Well spotted. It talks about it in the video. Thanks
Thanks for watching 👍
That was a distraction for me too Kenny, but thankfully it was explained👍👍
Hi Alan, these are good points, but I work over in NI where (nearly everything) is MP, I'm sure the regulator brings the pressure down to about 26 (ish) mB. Also, did I see it right that the let-by was done at 0mB, or was he just muddled? Let-by's are done at 7-10mB?
Audio a bit low.thank you
Im trying bit i dodnt understand a wordof this hehe
Lots of mumbling!! It would of been great if we could “ just” have test procedure showing from let by to tighten test with and without miv…. And maybe than put in the mumbling.
Time he cleaned that gauge
Always one. 😂
At what pressure do you attach the monometer?
Good video ..
But the mp tightness test is still as clear as mud 🤣🤣🤣
Ciaran Mcgreevy What didn’t you understand 👍
MIV *meter inlet valve
Thanks.
