One of the best lessons ever. Not only did you show the notes but you explained the picking patterns and the song structure. And all without wasting a word.
Thank you for the lesson!! Great Job!!! I was a guitar player from the 60's. Always loved The Hollies back then. I quit playing guitar 50 years ago and went into playing Pedal Steel Guitar for over 40 years now. Still active at 70. Picked me up a Les Paul to play at home. Get back into it for home fun. My current Pedal Steel is a Sho Bud Super Pro D10 with 8 floor pedals and 6 knee levers. Been a nice pass time playing a 6 string again.
I used to play this (my version at least) years ago and found this. Didn’t play in a while so I wanted to relearn this. I wasn’t sure on the intro hammer-on so I put this on my ASD app, slowed it down and looped it. Sure enough its there. Its so quick you almost miss it. Excellent tab
Great lesson Howard. I am a little younger than these guys but I grew up playing all over the north of England the same clubs and pubs as them before they went on to much deserved fame and fortune. I hadn't played this song in forever and you are one of the few people to play it exactly right, at least in my humble opinion. A shout out to Tony Hicks a player for whom the term underrated was literally invented and also the great Bobby Elliott on drums. Look forward to following your work.
My hobby is to watch these kind of video and play the songs and I have watch hundreds. I belong to a paid subscription to lick library and I need to tell u that you are one of the best. Love you teaching technique
I have dabbled with this tune before and it was lacking, with this lesson I picked up the things I was missing. Thanks for shining a light on it like you do and keep up the great work!
After getting my first electric guitar, this is the first riff I learned, and I still love playing it. Good lesson Howard! I never saw anyone teach the harmony part before with the boogie pattern. Thx. GT
That was excellent Howard. I always wondered how this was performed correctly . Your demeanor is great on these videos . I needed these types of lessons 40 years ago. Thanks again
always wanted to learn this, what an awesome ,patient teacher you are and a fine musician also! thanks so much for sharing your talents so hacks like me can learn from you sir!!
You’re an awesome player as well as a teacher I have played this tune a while back but couldn’t figure out the harmonic part of that riff I got close but it was higher up on the neck, mystery solved. Thank you!!🎶🎶🎸🎸
VERY cool lesson! I know I'm a little late to the party, but I just wanted to mention that I noticed the Jethro Tull "Living in the Past" T-shirt. Awesome!
Why haven’t I seen your page before ? I just subscribed to your page. You are a great teacher teaching at an easy and understandable pace . Thank you !
Cool video!!! your technique to play is so beautiful!, with 3 fingers on the guitar, I try it, I can put so far only one!, but im working on it! Thx for the lesson!
There are many tutorials on this song. I've seen at least 4, and I rate this one the highest in terms of clarity and technique, including the hybrid picking in what is basically a guitar solo equivalent for this song.
great lesson as always Howard. I have a request, it might seem a little odd, but Last Train to Clarksville, seems simple enough but the Picking pattern in the intro as well as the solo, (those quick triads) I just can't seem to nail. Thanks
One of the best lessons ever. Not only did you show the notes but you explained the picking patterns and the song structure. And all without wasting a word.
