Yeah, in this episode he was really amused with Lisbon's reactions. He has already shown in other episodes that he likes when she gets jealous (when he talked about Hightower as a partner, etc). It's like, he knows he loves her, but he's also aware that she's pretty clueless about her own feelings towards him, so baiting her and watching her being jealous is a small pleasure for him, a confirmation that she cares about him, since he can't really act on his own feelings for now.
It was too early in their friendship/relationship to declare deeper feelings. Jane still had to seek revenge for his family before he could move forward emotionally. So he plays around with Lisbons feelings keeping himself at a distance.
I don't get why so many people think that Jane wasn't into Lisbon at this point. He's obviously more subtle about it because he's tragically lost his wife and he still loves her but I think it was obvious from the start that he cares deeply about Lisbon and not just in a platonic way
I always have a thinking, this episode is not necessary, or Jane didn't need "helped" from Erica to close this case, how many cases did he close? why need her help in this case? is it because she offer to help? then he got her out of the jail??? I really don't like Jane in this episode😔😔😔
I think he has feelings but I don't know how much romantic or companionship or serious. He's amused by a lot. Not just jealousy. Lots of things amuse him. She feels for him more than he does her. Sometimes I think he is perfect for her but I don't know her for him. She is so serious all the time and he is the fun loving guy. I don't know if her personality fits him. I say give them a chance but Lisbon needs to be less judgy and harsh. Jane flirts with everyone, fans take it too seriously though.
Super late reply here, but if you watch Jane's non-work antics, she enjoys them a lot. The paper frog, the pony, the food he buys her, the high school dance, she smiles pretty freely when there's no work-responsibility involved. Sometimes she'll even hide a grin when he hassles suspects she doesn't like.
Even after the amnesia episode when he said they were working towards sleeping together and grabbing her butt and stuff, people still can't see Jisbon.
