[OPPO FIND N3 FLIP REVIEW]
Back in February, Oppo shook up the flip phone landscape with a little clamshell that packed a big standout: a cover display that, for the time, was the biggest you could find on a flip. When I factored in the better-than-average camera and the huge battery, the Find N2 Flip convinced me that Oppo had "found" its place in foldables.
But that, as they say, was then. Scarcely eight months after that phone launched in Europe, the Oppo Find N3 Flip adds another camera and a new side switch to a familiar, similarly slippery chassis. But the one thing Oppo could have done - the one thing I think it had to do, to face down its 2023 competition? It hasn’t yet.
[ABOUT THIS VIDEO]
This review was produced following several weeks with a Find N3 Flip review sample provided by Oppo. The review was based on ColorOS software version CPH2519_13.2.0.103(EX01). The device was tested on T-Mobile and Tello Mobile in several states across the Eastern US.

Sometimes I wished that LG is still making phones, imagine what they could do with foldables!
Man I miss that G Flex!
LG made more money just selling parts.
Exactly what I thought
If they couldn't hit on a slab why would this be any different?
@@theoneandonlybosablebut they did. If I'm not mistaken they sold very well in the United States only falling behind the likes of Apple and Samsung. Their biggest problem was software support and timely updates.
The B roll after the video is pure gold! Michael you are a hysterical person and I am here for all of it!
Almost missed the oppo-tunity to watch it...😂
Took a note from David Cogan @TheUnlockr there! 🤭😆
The timing of this upload was very OPPOtunistic.
🤣🤣🤣
Not a review, a beautifully crafted and narrated story! Keep up the good work! 👏🙌
Honestly i think this is the best flip, by keeping that cover screen size theyve managed to fit a much more capable camera than others, the battery is great and watching tiktok etc on the cover screen is cool
Looks beautiful this one. Flips evolving nicely. Its 2 in 1 practical form- compact + huge screen if needed. Love it.
I can't wait to see what the next couple of iterations of flip phones brings. They're progressing pretty nicely in the last 3 or 4 years
Agreed; the pace of innovation is encouraging!
Android should adopt standards for "Mini" screens the same way it did for large screens in Android 12L.
I'd argue mini screens are probably more important than the larger ones, given these flip-style phones are proving to be the most popular foldable format. Also because the worst-case for an app on a small screen is complete disfunction, but the worst-case for an app on a large screen is just awkward bezels.
Google needs to enforce tons of standards they currently aren't, like unfortunately not requiring treble or ab updates
I love my flip 5, and being able to use any app on the cover screen is a REQUIREMENT. It is so nice replying to Snapchat or WhatsApp/text app and using all of Spotify without opening the phone is awesome. And putting the small size in my pocket is so nice. I don’t think I can go back to slab phones
100% on all that. It's tough to convey to non-flip phone users how important a versatile cover screen is.
What's so hard about opening the phone? I understand basic functions of the cover screen but the need to run full apps? If your that committed to using an app on the cover screen just open the phone. Using Twitter on a 2 inch display? So dumb
@@jackmckay894 it's a hassle to open the phone for simple task sometimes, like a quick reply to a message. Then repeat that all day and it is quite annoying, I'm using the Find N2 Flip and I find that to be the worst drawback of the phone, they let you see the message and reply with speech to text or preset text but won't let you type the message yourself which is very limiting
@@jackmckay894it's actually about 4 inches
@@jackmckay894 its not about hard, its more of, if you just need to take a quick glance, or just a small press of a button to run or stop. Why use the full screen? Besides, holding it squarish fully in your hand with full grip feels nicer too.
Edit: Anything bigger, such as shopping apps and such, of course we would flip it open to use it. Since viewing the images is nicer. But for small action need. Able to use the front cover screen only is a big plus. Problem with Brand like OPPO, they limit the function of the cover screen. You cant press the corresponding action you wanna use on the screen, since you have to open the full app to get it.
i like that mini vertical display on the front, good potential, too bad it's not unlocked fully
Michael keep them coming love your reviews. Honestly is the best.
Its so cool to see 2 of my fav youtubers sharing an office!!
Thanks for the blooper reel at the end Michael! Even your bloopers are nicely done! 😂❤
Those bloopers at the end are hilarious! Never have I heard you swear as much as you do in 'em :) Great review!
Captain, make these bloopers a routine.
Agree
I remember being a kid and learning that Alex Trebek swore a lot off-camera. I'll never be the legend he is, but I like to think I'm paying homage to that fun, odd bit of his legacy 😄
@@TheMrMobile Bloopers are fun! You should do them more often :) Definitely helped to 'leaped frog' my sleepiness and start my day better!
@@TheMrMobile by chance will you be doing the review for Google pixel 8?
Excellent review. Really enjoy your review walk-arounds. I'm still leaning towards the Motorola razr 40 Ultra; but I love the effort that Oppo have put into this.
I love the outtakes! More please!
More stellar content. Thanks for your hard work keeping us informed.
I really like that you record clips filmed through the phones cameras and onboard microphones.
Another great review and the outtakes are a must watch.
Day-one fan and I’ll tell you what, that B roll is my favorite bit of humor you’ve posted thus far hahahaha. Keep on keeping on, Michael!
absolutely LOVE the outtakes!! Reminds me of your Pocketnow days :D
Love the canned laughter for the pun. Excellent!
I always like your videos but the outtakes at the end are pure gold. Leap frogged
I'd agree that the color science from the Hasselblad cooperation is doing wonders. Here's hoping that the Oneplus variant next week will be better.
Man i am buying it whatever u say, i was waiting for ur camera review!
The lockscreen apps not working on the cover for me is a feature not a bug, i want to not use my phone as much as I can
This seems like a perfect solution!
Really enjoyed the bloopers at the end ❤
I actually kinda like it if I'm being honest. As someone who does not own a flip phone, I would be happy to have this. The photos could be better, however, I think if taken properly they could turn out okay.
I watched this review video a little late, but once again, I would like to mention that your review videos are the finest.
I would love to try out the new flip and fold phones ...but sadly they are too expensive.
Please make the outtakes a regular segment. That was golden
11:30 shifting the blame are we now Mr. Mobile 😂
lol - I was just surprised to find out that I was the first to use it in a headline!
Amazing review! MrFoldable! 😄
Great video!
Ahaha I liked that bloopper. MrMobile video's has such a personality. I loved it.
great video as usual 👍
As others have said, that B roll after the video was fantastic..... Great review as always....
love the outtakes
I disagree with the opinion that cover screens should be able to run everything on the phone. I don't have a flip of any kind but I think they should be able to do basic functions as to keep the user off the phone. I prefer the cover screen of the flip 4 over the flip 5. That's just my opinion though. If i wanted to use more than just basic functions, I'd just open the phone.
I highly doubt you'll see this message. However I've been a long time viewer even before you went solo. If you ever wanted to continue your "When Phones were fun" series, I highly suggest the Nokia 5610 Express Music and its Sister devices. My first phone was the 5610 Express Music and that's also when I first discovered you on RUclips. Made me the mobile Tech geek I am today! Thank you for being a formative part of my life! Always a joy seeing your content and will always support you!
Thank you for the great reviews... would you be reviewing Jelly Star?
I still don't understand why the reviewers complaining about the cover screen which is not very useful. Basically it only displays notifications, it's the same as on a normal cellphone, we can only read notifications from anyone, we can't reply from the screen lock. I myself don't complain about that on the Galaxy Flip 3. And I think when the Galaxy Flip first came out they thought maybe what I thought 😁
Love the AUX SCE switch at 2:27!
Wow, good catch! You sir are a steely-eyed missile man.
What such a great video. Very well put together. hahahaha How unique it is to find tactical buttons on technology now. God Speed Sir.
Mad respect for the shot of Hometown BBQ (09:03) my favorite place in BK for Texas BBQ. Bonus points for the bloopers at the end 👏🏻👏🏻
I m big fan of your phone reviews from back in BB days
The title made me smile. Nice start to my day.
The mind boggles over what LG might have done with a Flip or a Fold.
😂😂 another good video and loved the ending
the outer screen not being big is a massive win for people who love clamshell phones, the whole reason is to protect the inner screen.
Those outtakes are hilarious 🤣
Great review, as always! Hope Oppo takes your feedback and comes back stronger against all the Oppo-sition. 🤪
You sold me on buying a Hasselblad camera. Those pictures look amazing
Now to find a cheap phone
I like the bloopers. Keep them coming 😂😅
I actually like the cameras separate, the N2 looks better imo. Just a huge circle next to an even bigger rectangle.
"Banana phoning" 😂😂 never heard that in my life until this minute.
Glad to see RUclipsrs with a huge audience also take a lot of retakes🤣
Great video, as always.
Never heard you make a Monty Python reference. Literally laughed out loud!
Omg! This is so cute!!
Please do more bloopers in future videos :)
I shall, but only if the humor leaped-frogs today's! 😄
Curious how it is going to go with OnePlus launching their Fold style device in the US market. It'll be good to see more competition for sure. Though I wonder if they're going to be too late to the game to get attention over here.
I don't think they'll be late to the game. From the sneak peaks so far, it's looking like it'll have better hardware than all the competition in the US
I have the oppo flip n2 flip.. I really love the camera but u r right about the opportunity lost for the screen on the front. I can't fully use the screen and the keyboard can't be used as well even with the new widgets. It's quite fustrating and I end up leaving the phone open always on my work desk.
Just had a data breach so thanks for the sponsor Michael I just signed up
I am shocked by those cameras because I genuinely think that they're better than a lot of non-foldable photos. The video quality looked pretty poor though.
Bloopers love em 😂😂😂
I need ur background on a wallpaper. The blue and purple backgrounds are nice
You are a king of folding phones review!
Can't wait for OnePlus Open review. Maybe your new daily folding driver...
I have the Find N2 flip, do you know if there will be an update to be able to use the front screen the same as with the N3? Thank you
8:14 But do you also snapseed iphone photos too? Please reply 🙏
I'm with you - give me the Razr with the Oppo's camera, then I'd seriously want one
You've taken a leaf out of your roommate's videos with the bloopers at the end, nice!
Thanks for the review
If you could only choose 1 device that provide THE BEST selfie photo and video result , what would it be
thanks you
Jonathan from montreal city
Ooh, I spy an 8-Bit Brew watch at 8:21. A man of taste - but after following you for well over 12 years, I knew that already ;-) Cheers! //Rick
Is it possible to get a custom firmware that treats the outside screen as its own full screen?
It's interesting to see Oppo find flip 3 to possess a third unique form factor with a smaller but workable external screen. A third additional flip option to join the two other top tier brands with a big external display are making the flip phones market more diverse. A diversified flip phone market will make competition very interesting. 😎💯💪🏾👍🏾
The more flips the better. I still have my eyes set on the Razr + but not at that price point 😢
I have the non plus Motorola razr 2023 model And I love it very much and it is a foldable with a bigger battery than the razor Plus brother with a better camera! And it's a couple hundred dollars cheaper! 😎🙌
I hoped you had reviewed the Oppo Find N3, and I hope you do review the OnePlus Fold
More bloopers please please please please more bloopers!
Mrmobile is one of the best gadget reviewer for years
Yeah when I saw leaks I said nah with RAZR 40u or edge+??(moto stop with Xiaomi namings!) There's no space for this. But if it's cheap with bright promises of it will be...I must say we kinda need these weirdos cause if not every flip will look exactly the same.
As always top quality show!👑
I am really happy with my 😊😊find n2 flip, and prefer Flip above no flip
I enjoyed the bloopers, I'd welcome more in future videos
Thanks; it was fun to include them! They don't happen often because I don't speak directly to camera, but I'll include them again where I can!
Hi Micheal have you got to see the new Motorola flip yet?
put more blooper on next video. it hilarious 🤣 🤣
When are you gonna do a pixel watch 2/ pixel 8 review?
Gotta love outtakes that include a mirage of swearing yourself out 😂
I like it and I hope that samsung keeps growing because I'm a galaxy guy but I'm not against going to a pixel or other android phone
Take this angry thumbs up on your video for that smooth sponsor message transition
The bloopers remind me of the rush hour movie bloopers 😂
The 1st film was the best 😎😄
how about the stablity when filming?
Good video nice title lol
@8:48 Shark!
For someone supposedly into folds, how come you haven't done a review on the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3?
Can they release that tiny front display as its own phone?
As a satisfied customer of Oppo software, I think they should be focused on the software and UI/UX more. Don't get me wrong, the hardware is good, but not good enough to be distinctive among the vast market of foldables.
Also, the camera bump really looks like an afterthought, almost like they designed the phone without cameras and put the bump there on the last minute.
God bring me back to 2005 and the Motorala Razr ................good times
Why they won't put the outer display on the side, where there is no camera?
What's your daily driver right now Mr M. Not a review phone that you are testing out but your actual daily driver OR go to phone this year?
I’m so jealous of the Lcars skins in your phones that it tempts me to switch to Android.
in a post Razr 40 Ultra world, I don't think foldable phones can get by with curated cover screen app selections anymore
Especially for people who live in a country who's most popular apps are only available and/or relevant in its own country (for example I live in Indonesia and by far the biggest ride-sharing app here is Gojek, not Uber), the phone manufacturer can't possibly attempt to make a customized implementation for every single popular app in each country.
how do you get one of these in the US 👀
Oppo is the only company that makes phone names sound like math questions
