Solar makes sense for EV if you can charge during the day when the sun is up or if you have net metering. If you are out and about all day and get home in the evening when the sun is gone then you need batteries to store the sun's energy. To charge an EV of this size, 40kWh, you will need a huge battery back which is an added cost.@@viveksingh5648

@@nkj9683 > how many years battery will last 7 yrs -10 yrs?
does not depend on time, depends on charging cycles. One cycle = full range of the car. LFP has 1500 cycles. Even if you drive like maniac and get 200km range, it will be 300K km before the battery reaches 80% SOH
SOH = % of original range.
Even then no need to replace battery if that range if fine for your use.
      > Spending 40% more on same car
Nexon Diesel AMT XZ+ and NEV Prime XZ+ have 2.7L price gap before subsidy.
      > now a days long trip on car becoming common
Only 6million VEHICLES (includes trucks and bus) pass tolls daily. Road trip culture in india is nowhere near that of USA/EU. Further, its only in your mind you're imagining no charger present, irl lots of charging infra has developed since pandemic times.
Download plugshare app and see for yourself. Infra in south india is so good you can have EV as primary car even today.
      > monthly running more than 3.5k then only worth
You dont have EV (evident enough from your comment) and when a person who has one is telling you clearly that its feasible to use EV for 1000km per month running, you don't agree.
Who should we believe? You or someone who owns and knows it well?

Nexon EV prime is more value if you don't do lot of highway trips, since it's mostly the same car with slightly lesser range ie 250km vs 350km
The price gap between nexon EV XZ+ and Nexon diesel AMT XZ+ is just 2.7L
In return you get intangible benefits like no jerky AMT, much better performance and silent smooth drive.
Tangible benefits, EV is 1/km, even if you get 15kmpl in cty, at 90/L thats 6/km on top of that 5K for every 10000km of service.
total saving 5.5/km which comes to 50K km
normal person driving 30km per day can cover that in 5y easily
If you have solar like me, charging is free so that same calc comes down to 41K km and 4y.

Car uses 5kWh I use 10kWh in house per day. Still leaves net 5kWh sold to grid.
Other than that, it's making my 3000 per month bill also 0Rs in addition to 8-9K fuel bill (Figo 1.5D)
I'm just counting fuel reduction in EV case

Driven mine almost 65k kilometres in 2 years, great car but a LOT of problems. My car has already had a full battery swap (done under warranty) due to significant drop in range which for me wasn't that great in the first place (180kms on the non max version ofc). My main question is how sustainable is this for the environment as I know another person who has also had a battery swap in just over a year of ownership. I agree the drive is good etc etc but as a main primary car I don't recommend it at all, as a secondary yes maybe, but don't buy it with the expectation of saving money as that is not the case once you factor in the cost premium over ice cars because you will really have to cover a lot of kilometres to actually make some savings and then it must be remembered that an ice car over 100k kilometres will work just fine if maintained well whereas a batter pack will degrade no matter what, so by the time you have finished using the car, I doubt these electric cars will have a good resale value which if factored in might make the total cost of owning ice actually cheaper.

I know its about ones comfort. But you should definitely try moving your seat a little more back. It will definitely help you to use the pedals more easily. At this position you probably have to raise your ankle even more compared to what you actually have to. Also your body is awkwardly too close to the handle. Move your seat half a feet backwards and you will definitely enjoy driving at that position.

Hey Ranjit. Now that you have a good amount of understanding of EVs through tata, maybe you can test drive other EVs like the kona , xuv400 , etc to get a better understanding of all EVs and to give more credibility as an EV user.
For example, the kona has regen paddle controls which makes the regen experience completely different from the tata version since it can brake harder at higher speeds and hence remain more efficient while saving drive time. Also the button system on the kona I found easier than using the round dial on the Nexon.
XUV400 has much faster charging curve which makes a difference on highways. Also it does have better space , despite lacking a lot of features that Hyundai or tata provide.

Charging costs are even lower in Nepal. I have TOD meter, and I charge mostly during off hours (11pm-6am), it costs me less than 4 Indian Rupees per unit that way !!
And there's a 12V supply outlet for rear seats, so there's no issue for charging mobile there !

    Hi Ranjith,
I completed 60000 Kms in Nexon prime Lux model Jan 2021 with extended warranty. I planned to sell to upgrade for Max recently but people ask for peanut price. I paid 17lakhs and people are negotiating upto 5lakhs, 7lakhs etc 😂.
May be a video on resale fair price on ev would be helpful in future.

3 years into it and 60k kms, ur car value has gone down shitter. In next 3 to 4 years the new owner will need a new battery and that will cost him upto 7 lakhs if not more
Why would anyone buy a vehicle from u at the price u expect when a more expensive item needs to be replaced in just next 3 years or so?
Its like me asking someone to pay 30 lakh for my fortuner i bought for 40 and expecting them to then drive it on a poor engine which will surely need replacement next

Ranjit Sir if I'm not mistaken you have 330i M Sport right!!
Well i do agree that for everyday commute NEXON EV will be far more suitable and Actually Fun to drive, but for joyrides i don't think Normal EV's are there yet. There is something about BMs that put a smile when you put that vehicle in a corner which EV's for now coz of their sheer weight can't imitate 😅
Appreciated your honest review and would actually love More Content from you in Automobile channel 🙂

    • @Holy_Demon
      @Holy_Demon 9 месяцев назад +1

@@sanalkumarvg2602 yes i have driven EV that too for an extended period. EVs are fun coz of their torqy motor and incredible straight line acceleration. And that's what MAJORITY of people consider FUN drive
But these Germans especially the BMs knows how to put smile in Curves. You can have a Tail happy turn or a sharp turn in these machines. Whereas EVs tends to have a flat turning coz of LOW CG and heavy weight.
So I would say if you consider just the Acceleration as FUN you can't beat any EV. But If you consider the OVERALL FUN well the EV have time to catchup...

Myths and doubts about EVs only exist in people's minds until they use one themselves or until someone they trust tells them otherwise.
Thanks for the in depth review. It feels on par with a car review since you covered each and every point.
I hope the myths in mind of viewers will be alleviated now.
One point about charging you should've mentioned is the existence of PlugShare app. Its known only by people who are in the loop ie exisiting EV owners or prospective ones who are in owners groups or team bhp or such platforms.
Still I see lot of people unaware about the actual charger situation in comments. Its much better than what they imagine.
    edit 1
12:30 there's a 12V socket on the top left corner of the rear bench where the seat belt restrainer is on my nexon EV prime, I'm sure there must be one in yours as well. A more logical location would obvisouly be the rear AC vent module to put USB points but 12V socket is very much present for rear seats.
Sucks, but at least better than having no point for rear pax
