Hi there, Kartikeya here! Adding info to some things Shumi and I spoke about in the video and some extra fact nuggets you might like: -The 7.2KW charger cost was Rs50,000 pre-facelift. The range has gone up by about 30kms. It adds up. 😊 - Weight distribution is 50:50. Quasi BMW! - Eco mode is capped at 120kmph. City mode went past an indicated 140kph. Thanks for joining in the conversation!
I think in the past they have claimed a LRR tyres on the nexon, but mine has the same ecotread tyres which is shared with the ICE. I don't know why they claim that.
ev to ev charging is an welcome thing. This comes in handy at places where fast chargers are not available or further away from the location where you are at but you have a fellow ev owner who can then top you up just enough to reach to the nearest charger.
I feel that this is their strength. One will be a listener for bikes and the other will be a listener for cars. THAT gives us the feel of being involved in the conversation with this listener's POV. Superb combo❤
I love the fact that Kartikeya is like a little child, so excited when talking about a car and Shumi is like that no-nonsense uncle who just can't wrap his head around all these new gimmicks these manufacturers provide. As I grow older, I can empathize with Shumi more and more. 😂
His insights(sarcasms) are sooo on point! Sometimes it feels like - Hmm, why didn't anyone mention this before which was right infront of everyone's eyes! 😂 And then karthik also gives that - "Whaaaat?! I DUNNO" reaction! So funny and beautiful! 😂
I am convinced that the idea of separating the ICE and EV videos was the best. So much to learn. Tata EV is on a great heading and their efforts show. The 12 inch brilliant screen that wowed Kartik would also be appreciated a lot by the folks stuck in traffic jams 😊 Wonder if this was the inspiration behind it ?
Watching the World Cup on Hotstar would be a nice use case when stuck in Pune/Bangalore traffic. On the condition that it would stop the video bit and continue the audio as soon as the car moves 😊
Just a thought: This format of MotorInc First for older vehicles would be so cool. I feel a conversation between these 2 covers so much more about the vehicle than a review story does. And I can listen to them endlessly. ❤
This is सत्संग for automotive enthusiasts! And the USP of this is absence of sudden and loud music in between. Just clear sound and discussion and that’s it. You guys are doing it great. 👍🏻
This series and the conversation is just fantastic. I'm sure most of us wouldn't mind a little bit longer episodes as well. Splendidly put together and presented. Compliments to the whole team.
Using nexon max from past 6 months as a primary car. Doing intercity every day about 220 km. End of the day left with 35-40% with avarage speed of 75kmph. The game is all about speed vs range. Highest i travelled 280km with 13% left with 75kmph speed. On other hand covered 152km in just 32% with the avarage speed of 58kmph. When you are using continuously you got to know better about your vehicle.
Unsurprisingly fantastic. I am a car guy. I dream about motorcycles, but I know I can't risk my life on two wheels whenever I drive out. But I love Shumi's expression of exasperation at all the fussy car jargon, "personas", and minor features made out to be life-changing.
Even by Tata Motors standards and their penchant for special editions, they have taken it way too far this time. I agree with Shumi. The bosses at Tata Motors slipped up, they could have curated this far better. Too much meaningless choice makes it difficult to select the variant you want to buy. Nexon crossed that line and just kept on running, with someone sleeping at the wheel😅.
These discussions feel like a breath of fresh air for the hungry mind! Gamechanger! One suggestion- Time availability is a real constraint for most of us. 3 formats- Long(30-45min), Medium(10-15min), Short (your faq style series of shorts) should serve a larger audience!
@@ashiqshajoos378 Kerala, booked two weeks before. They had 2 vehicles in transit during my booking, I arranged funds and confirmed one of them. Actual waiting period is 1.5 to 2 months .
In city, a range of 120 kms is good enough to become a primary car! Here in Bangalore, there are several charging points and there’s no reason for range anxiety.
Large Cities like Bangalore, Mumbai Delhi etc will build charging infrastructure, for smaller tier2 and tier3 cities, range is not a problem as people don’t drive 120kms a day and can always charge at their homes. It’s only for long distance travel, range becomes an issue.
@@motorinc we live South of Electronic City, and have 4 x 100+ JioBP-Pulse charger parks as well as multiple Statiq/Shell and others within a 10km radius. I think the range debate is a deflection on the real issue, which is simple - investments made for ICE engines/cars will have to be used up & purveyors of fossil fuels fuel our elections too.
What Shumi said is absolutely right here that the regen is designed for the engineer's goals rather than user's goals in any other vehicle. To add to it, back when I was working with the team doing regen part (not in tata), we had asked this question but the need to provide regen in a vehicle to showcase as a feature is much higher than giving a usable feature. The 7% number can be practicle although the theory suggests more than 10%, but even the testing team really struggled to reach that number. If you so aggressively focus on getting the highest regen possible, you will end up degrading your driving experience for sure.
There is something really magical about review from Karthikeya. Would recommend this channel to everyone who wants a funny quirky and on point review. Keep up the good work
Hey guys, what’s really amazing is that you are sitting on comfortable couches and we viewers can be anywhere with our phones, tablets or laptops… yet your conversation makes me feel that we are travelling together in Nexon EV.. ironically we don’t get same feeling with those cameras installed in cars at different angles in other RUclips reviews…. it’s probably the in depth knowledge and clearer intent of its transfer is striking gold for you guys. Kudos team MotorInc, Kartik and Shumi.
Recently discovered your videos. Reminds me of my days on TV 25-30 years ago, and trying to get truth past the door-keepers. There wasn't much innernets then! Onwards with my views on the Nexon EV, a car we both love, the spouse & I, the previous car we both loved almost 37-38 years ago was the MM540DP which we could take anywhere/everywhere btw (though the Nexon EV is mostly for city driving and 150-200kms around so I guess we may have grown older), and shall use our Nexon EV till the day it stops or the warranty doesn't work (after which I don't know but by then am very hopeful that the neighbourhood garage guy will by then figure out how to use the batteries/modules/pack for solar energy storage purposes, which is a work in progress, btw, on a damaged EV of another make lying around); and may be the last Tata Motors EV we buy if they don't sort out EV dedicated workshops in Bengaluru and Goa (though the Nexon EV ground clearance is its USP for us) 1) The older Nexon EV Prime had 4 lug-holes/bolts on the rim, the newer Nexon EV has 5. This is important for me for multiple reasons. Odd number vs even number. 2) The older/newer alloys are what they are. I would prefer steel rims on the front 2 wheels. Higher torque & SUV. 3) The various personas are confusing not just for us. Try talking to the sales staff. 4) If the Nexon EV is the "flagship", then a visit to a Tata Motor workshop may help in sorting out that part please. 5) The blue sash helped/helps get early recognition at KIAL/BLR for the EV discount. 6) The biggest benefit of any EV is no more worrying about adulterated fuel, crappy lubricants & pump forecourt sales clowns. 7) The white roof we have on our Nexon Prime EV was inspired, have no idea why this has been removed from the repertoire; and yes, both of us do not like sunroofs. 8) Range can't change magically, presumably the buffer on both sides has been changed. 9) Drive feel - let me put it this way, on our Prime Nexon EV, I do not use the S mode anymore & would like to have it blocked, I don't dare hand over the Prime Nexon EV to a valet forever; while in the new Nexon EV, I can use the S mode, but would still not hand over to valets. 10) ReGen 3 in city & ghats/hills, ReGen 1 on highways or maybe even ReGen zero. BTW, ReGen kicks in at about 94%-95% in the Nexon Prime EV so I presume the upper buffer is wider. Is it predictable? Well, you may look at stronger/stiffer tyres in front with 2PR or even 3PR instead of the stock 1PR tyres. (to be continued)
Hello @malikveeresh6751! Thank you for joining us. And for the very detailed opinion on your Nexon EV. Your comment about the Tata Workshop has made us curious about the experience that you've had with them. Could you share more about your particular experience as an EV owner?
@@motorinc - there are two separate dealers involved. - Delivery Dealer (showrooms and workshop within 3-4 kms from our place) - Servicing Dealer (workshop about 15kms from our place) a) Delivery Dealer - Paperwork was hand-written, with consequent errors across documentation, I'm still trying to sort that out. 21 months later. b) Delivery Dealer - Home charger installation - gave up. Hardly use it now. Neighbour has a 3.3 installed professionally. Public chargers nearby with ample AC slow/DC fast. Could write a book on the subject. Shall write a separate mail on what to look out for. c) Delivery Dealer - We probably chose the wrong dealer for delivery. They may have been unhappy with us because we did not need finance, we came to the table with 50% NCB carried forward from a previous car, proof of address/identity was in order. It also appeared to us that they were not too keen on selling EVs vis-a-vis ICE. Should clarify this in advance before paying advance money. d) Delivery Dealer. I was unhappy with the fitted tyres. All the "new" tyres were minus vent spews/sprue nubs/tyre nibs/gate marks or nippers. Also had to remove the OE tyre valves which appeared to be whatever, and fit new Triton valves - which should have been OE. Shall write a separate mail about tyre games with new cars. Had to change both front OE tyres within 2500kms - and this is a tyre brand I trust implicitly for my ICE vehicles. e) Delivery Dealer - Sales person interacts for delivery and orientation, instead of a workshop person, I know about those online training modules for EV delivery. Feel sorry for the youngsters there. Had to depend on the EV community to figure out stuff. fi) Delivery Dealer - Mixed workshop at delivery dealer, where service advisor and mechanic are allotted by turn, and I do not like an EV being hoisted on a single ram platform. EVs are better examined over a grease pit, with weight on the wheels/tyres, and if to be lifted for any reason, not more than a few inches off the ground. Unless there are EV specific hoists. My take is that battery pack problems start from here, too, the way the EV is lifted. fii)Servicing Dealer - The (authorised) other workshop I go too, inspects our Nexon EV over a grease-pit - and hoisting an EV is done ONLY by specific senior mechanics, the higher the EV goes on a hoist designed for an ICE vehicle, the more the risk. Not the correct forum to explain CoG and HoM. The fact that the EV fleet guys trust this particular workshop a lot says a lot. Even the tyre dealers and local mechanics know this - which authorised dealer is best for TaTa EVs. g) Servicing Dealer - Some authorised dealers have figured out that EVs are the future. This is one of them. A buyer has to figure that out in advance by going to the workshop, or to fleet operators, and not just the showroom, and/or look for word of mouth. We probably got unlucky with our delivery dealer and lucky with the service dealer. h) Manufacturer - There is very little in an EV that can not be diagnosed at home, if there is enough space, and we had been promised home service. By the dealer and manufacturer. Nothing came of that. i) Delivery Dealer. For the extended warranty, the delivery dealer made me jump from showroom to workshop, till I got fed up and bought it from the servicing dealer workshop. The critical person at all dealerships and workshops are the 1st points of contact - the gate guards and the reception lady. The delivery dealer failed us on both counts. The next critical factor is - who drives the EV when inside the workshop, a mechanic or any random person? Again, the delivery dealer failed on this head, and the servicing dealer passed. Hope this helps.
I was actually considering buying a CURVV EV & didn't get much good videos out there. But this conversation solved all the questions I had although its about the NEXON EV.
Hi @vishnuashokkumar1782! Thanks for watching this one but we actually have a similar one for the Curvv EV too, check it out here: ruclips.net/video/vzfeTQmW1gw/видео.htmlsi=Sm2DmGm9qBgwfW1R
Must admit that I cannot believe the fact that I watch two persons talking about cars sitting on a chair for 30 minutes. Very engaging and informative!!
The XUV4OO felt like a unfinished project in comparison to the older Nexon EV and now with the Nexon.ev (dotted for extra pleasure?), they seem to have take the game 2-3 inches.. err.. notches above the existing XUV4OO and I think its a good thing. One, competition is always good. Customers are usually who benefit from it and secondly, the XUV4OO facelift is still in testing phase, so we can expect a lot of changes to either keep up or outclass the Nexon.ev. Offtopic, but I am wondering what Mahindra was doing after acquiring Maini Reva. They had the EV tech much much before Tata probably even started with the Nexon project and they just chose to just sit on it. They could have had the first mover advantage. But anyways, I think Tata did a fantastic job with the Nexon and even more so with the Nexon.ev. I feel (or rather assume) that the single pedal driving can still be achieved via a software update. While you talk about emergency braking, I think since the physical brakes can work in tandem with the regen braking, that shouldn't be a cause for concern. They could anyways limit the single pedal driving feature to say something below 40-50kmph. That way the issue of safety wouldn't be a concern at highway speeds. Did you guys get to check the headlamp performance of the Nexon /.ev? LED lighting seems cool and all but in almost every practical case its just overrated (Though Shumi's Ferocio could probably light up a concert). Its more to do with the color temperature than tech itself. it causes eye irritating for oncoming traffic cuz they use high beam as low beam doesn't really illuminate the road well. May be manufacturters should move to 4300k LEDs. Nexons has had the issue of being immovable if they break down (not sure if it is the case with other EVs too), have seen a few blocking apartment exits, roads etc. Has Tata done anything to address the issue?
Hey LWM! Didn’t get to check headlamps. Will keep that in mind for next time. Regen - just software won’t cut it - because the higher regen charge can’t be channelised to the battery. Will check about the lock issue.
Car brands should feel completely at ease with their naming choices. Shumi and Kartikay are just waiting eagerly to shower them with endless praise and admiration for their impeccable taste in naming the variants.
Great video per usual! But partially disagree with one point here. That is with respect to single pedal driving. Having had a Nexon EV Max , for a year now, i agree that single pedal driving is not intuitive. Its a slightly longer learning curve. I do 60 plus kms everyday of ORR driving, west BLR to east BLR, and after about 2k kms on the ODO, the regen is good enough that you adapt to single pedal driving automatically. There have been days where ive done the 30km to office without touching the brakes apart from the need to engage autohold. The previous gen Nexon Max blew my mind to the extent of sophistication that was on offer from Tata. And the fact that my previous car was a Indica Vista for a better part of a decade, it felt very natural when i shifted over to the EV max. And this iteration, is gonna be even better! Great car for what you get for the price IMO. Only thing i would have liked would be the option of turning off creep mode, then absolute single pedal would be possible with a bit of practice. On the range front, 280 to 300 km is easily possible with sedate driving. In my ownership experience, the worst that i got was 250km to 8% soc and the best ive had was 322km to 2% soc(range anxiety was real that day). Keeping the soc between 85% and 20% should give 240 to 260km on a regular basis once you get used to the car.
I have a bone to pick with the Nexon. The charging is just too slow. Having it as someone's only car, you will end up doing some long distances some time over your ownership period of 5-8 years, and having to wait an hour at a desolate station to get back home can get really irritating very quickly. They need to fix that in their future models. Once you have enough range, which this does, charging speed matters a lot. And Tata have stopped the ball again
Given the limitations of the charging infrastructure and batteries in general, speeding up the charging process won't be easy. Also, electric vehicles cannot serve as single vehicle garages if long distance road trip duties are expected. Also, no matter how quick the charging times become, one will have to wait for an hour, which also depends on whether charging slot is free or not.
As a country, Bharat needs a national EV technology mission. To develop all software, hardware design and battery technology and rare earth free motors, batteries, and design charging network. Companies can then license this technology and build their own cars.
@@motorinc I would argue that India should stop FAME2 subsidies and PLI schemes and use that money for developing core EV technologies. This will spur industrial development and value creation.
Hi Kartikeya/Shumi, Your channel and specifically these 101 conversations are just another level. Your content, knowledge , humor, delivery & everything is just amazing..Kudos!! I drove the Empowered + and I am very positively surprised. It's a great package I feel. Just a query - Why everyone discusses just the math when it comes to comparison between EV vs Petrol/Diesel?? I drove Seltos ( IVT and DCT), Creta, City but none of them comes even iota close to the kind of drive quality Nexon.ev provided. Especially the Sports mode was just so much fun, the acceleration and then smoothness. None of this I saw in other mentioned cars, but still in all reviews it concludes with number of km you need to run to make this economically viable. Is there something a miss here?
The problem with EVs in this price range is that the premium one pays against the ICE counterpart takes nearly 1-1.2 lakh km to set off against the fuel cost saving. This, on an average, would take 8 years (@12000 km/year driving). Coincidentally, 8 years is also the time when battery warranty expires, and if anything happens to it post warranty, thats 5-6 lakhs worth of replacement. Given that we have zero clue about resale value of EVs and accounting the battery factor, I feel EVs desperately need a price cut as value proposition isn't very clear. Is a price cut even possible? No. Feels like EVs are just a transitional placeholder till we find a viable gasoline substitute. Hydrogen fuel? Only time will tell.
Fearless+ Petrol DCA is 16.4L and F+ EV LR is 19.4L EMI Diff is around 5K (19k vs 24k), if you spend more than 60k per year in fuel + servicing then it makes sense to go EV, if not then use petrol while prices drop This difference halves when you compare XZ+ tiago LR and XZA+ tiago AMT to 1.5L so technically, so does breakeven. All these prices are without subsidy.
@@shresthsonkar9207 At what point does EV make sense completely depends on in how much time one wants to retrieve his extra initial investment (on EV over ICE). In Nexon's case and for an average user, it is 8 years (so it doesn't make sense). If someone wants it in 2 years, his driving should increase by 4 times which translates to roughly 50,000 km per year, which is extraordinarily high even for commercial purposes. For Tiago EV, an average user will get ROI in 50-60k km, which is decent enough. Now what companies are doing is, in order to reduce the ICE-EV delta, instead of reducing EV prices, they're increasing ICE prices especially at the top end!
@@vardanrathi7777 60K difference per year for Nexon EV comes to 5y for 3L premium The one for Tiago will be barely 2.5y The 60k is worth only 600L of fuel per year ie 9K km of driving in a year@15kmpl, a reasonable mileage for Nexon petrol. For everyone above 9k, it’ll be cheaper to go EV provided they have the budget. Regarding price hikes of ICE, it’s natural that newer pollution norms, safety norms and engine tech will need price hikes. I’m not advocating for the companies but even they have to run a business and pay people working for them. At the same time, these norms are also important to keep evolving in terms of safety and emissions as well.
The subjective content quality consistently impresses, and the audio and video maintain a satisfactory standard. The audio, in particular, offers a soothing ASMR experience, complemented by your great voices.
I love your channel!!! Indeed it is underated rn my gut feeling says this channel is gonna be a big name in future ❤ keep going we love your mature and on point conversation
Thank you for the clarity. Please would you suggest nexon ev for a daily commute of around 80-100kms. Which is financially more viable ice or ev. If ice which one petrol or diesel.
What an incredibly tight set! Thanks guys; was waiting for this specific video for quite some time. Might make the switch to EV with this facelift. Cheers!
Here is the deal, India is yet to reach the charging infrastructure penetration for 200km range even though the Metro city folks see charging stations regularly. . We need a real world 300km range for this thing to take off. I am talking about an average user like me who doesn't mind not having AC intermittently over my journey. . Pune Mumbai is okay but Pune Solapur or Pune Kolhapur or Pune Nasik is not there yet. Plus apart from Gujarat, other states don't have that kind of infrastructure. I have driven from Pune to Indor and it doesn't inspire confidence in me that EV would be feasible for such travel. There are such large patches all over india
Perfect time , yesterday on the way to office I was listening to ICE episode on Amazon, and I get to see this. By the way I have seen so many episodes even while just listening to it in the car I could imagine the facial expressions and shuttle non verbal communication between two of you.
Shumi go soft on K! Also show a few longer videos of the car as well when specific points are being discussed, makes us want to look at the screen more. Love the way Shumi looks at the camera to drive a point home! Kudos!
Karthik maybe forgot about a cool feature. Understandable. But the DRL in the front of Nexon EV indicates the level of charging. Which is pretty neat for this segment.
Neat, but a gimmick. As the light doesn’t stay on. It comes on for a bit at the start of charging. Unlikely you will be able to make use of it after walking away since the car will be facing toward the charger in most cases.
If medium range Nexon is used 1,60,000 Km in eight years how much it will save compair to ICE Nexon with same Km running.(Add approximate maintenance cost of both.)
About 16lakh if you consider 10 rupee per km for petrol Nexon... ev with 1..2 rupee per km. I suggest you to invest in solar if possible to save that bit also ..
Guys, I'm still waiting for the videos on the Jimny.... Are there any on the way? I thought there would be a more detailed one involving a comparison with the Thar
I agree to what Kartikeya said and wanted to add something about Shumi's remark of one pedal driving on the Tesla - based on a 13 month long ownership and 20k kms driven on a Tesla Model 3 Long Range in the US. One pedal driving is predictable for the most part when it comes to braking but it is not as accurate as using a mechanical brake which becomes like a 2nd nature to you. One pedal driving can alter its behaviour based on the battery / motor temp, outside temp and also the state of charge. I have had experiences specially during the cold winters of Eastern United states that the regen brake felt way too weak and even though tesla compensates it by using friction brakes automatically to give you the same feel as that of regen but it still feels off at times. All in all one pedal driving is still a must have in EVs because it adds to the ease of use.
Ioved the nonchalant attitude that Shumi showed with the ice episode plugin. If you have time " the episode", if you don't a verbal " RUclips short" kudos.
Lovely as always. Initial I was skeptical about such long format videos, but you make the discussion interesting, and 30 mins go by quickly. I think TATA's decision to give Sunroof as an option is brilliant. I hate it that we cannot buy the top model of Brezza or Exter without sunroof.
@@motorinc lol. I wonder how all these new tech will age on tata cars. Don't trust the service guys will handle them with care. I can already foresee the steering panel coming back from the service centre with a lot of scratches. Please do ask the tata management at the new harrier/safari launch if they can upgrade those glossy black panels to scratch resistant material.
A thought about the aerodynamic wheels on EVs and ICEs. On ICEs, most of the braking is done by… well… the brakes. With all the heavy lifting they do, I think that these brakes need better ventilation than their EV counterparts whose brakes, while dealing with more mass/momentum, are aided by the regenerative braking by a large degree. Hence, with EVs, aerodynamic alloys suddenly become a viable way of making the car more slippery and thus more efficient while this is not possible with their ICE counterparts.
Minor correction: All Nexon EVs get 7kw OBC (On Board Charger) standard. This is not to be confused with EVSE (the slow or fast AC charger outside the vehicle, that we plug in). What this means is that even if you bought the variant without wall mount 7kw charger, you can AC charge at 7kW power from a public charging station (useful while waiting) or can buy 7kw EVSE later. My recommendation: Buy the variant without AC fast charger, use it for few months and if you absolutely can't deal with 10hr charging time, buy an AC fast charger later at far cheaper price.
Here is a wild guess.... Every Indian car and motorbike company key people have been asked by their bosses to subscribe to motorinc and never miss any of shumi's and Karti's videos.
Hi guys. You missed a point. Unlike the ICE, the EV gets a front center position lamp end-to-end which lights up in a nice animation upon vehicle start. It also shows the battery charging level as the vehicle charges.
Really appreciate you talking about single-pedal driving. 😊 I have one question, when it comes to aggressive regen, how important it is to engage the break light for safety concern ❓
Such a wonderful video between two passionate people.. Kudos to the quality work.. Keep it up 👍🏼.. One thing I felt is this Q&A session almost breaks the rhythm.. Maybe a podcast-ish less formal approach with the free flowing puns and banter would do a world of good.. Either ways cheers 👏🏼 Eager to check your next work.. 🙏🏼
Having an small tv in the car while charging is all good. But how about the Aircon? How does it influence the charging time if the the aircon is kept on while watching the movie?

Harrier with 2 Ltr ICE and a good battery pack which will be fun with added independent suspension which they miss still or may be i am just trying to fit all good things in one car @20- 25 lakhs :)
Glad you enjoyed the video. A hybird Tata would also make a lot of sense and we hope they are on to something. As the Grand Vitara and the Toyota Hyrider have demonstrated, hybrids are a big success.
@@motorinc Recall seeing a video clip of a journalist asking Tata Motors about hybrids, and they suggested that car makers who don't have competitive EVs may need hybrids for compliance with CAFE rules, and said that Tata Motors don't need hybrids and their focus is pure BEVs. It is possible that it is truer of their passenger vehicles than LCVs.
We are not ready for full EV's yet till we have the grid setup everywhere :) Hybrids are the way to go atleast for me is what i think , hope we get better hybrids @@dgupta42

Hi there, Kartikeya here!
Adding info to some things Shumi and I spoke about in the video and some extra fact nuggets you might like:

- If you were wondering about the digital real estate on offer - The Empowered gets - a 12.3” (centre) + 10 (driver), its 10” + 10” on the Fearless and 7” + 7” on the Creative
- Motor noise is 3dB lower, which helps with the quietness

Kartikeya, how do you feel about the iMT gearbox of the sonet? Comparing it with the 1.0 manual of fronx.
I think in the past they have claimed a LRR tyres on the nexon, but mine has the same ecotread tyres which is shared with the ICE. I don't know why they claim that.

😂 The two of them, we tell you....
I am convinced that the idea of separating the ICE and EV videos was the best. So much to learn.
Tata EV is on a great heading and their efforts show.
The 12 inch brilliant screen that wowed Kartik would also be appreciated a lot by the folks stuck in traffic jams 😊
Wonder if this was the inspiration behind it ?
Not to be used in a moving car!
❤️ That could be the case!
Watching the World Cup on Hotstar would be a nice use case when stuck in Pune/Bangalore traffic. On the condition that it would stop the video bit and continue the audio as soon as the car moves 😊
Just a thought:
This format of MotorInc First for older vehicles would be so cool. I feel a conversation between these 2 covers so much more about the vehicle than a review story does. And I can listen to them endlessly. ❤
Thanks for the recommendation! 🙏🏾❤️
This is सत्संग for automotive enthusiasts! And the USP of this is absence of sudden and loud music in between. Just clear sound and discussion and that’s it. You guys are doing it great. 👍🏻
Thank you, Prathamesh.
This series and the conversation is just fantastic. I'm sure most of us wouldn't mind a little bit longer episodes as well. Splendidly put together and presented. Compliments to the whole team.
Thank you! We will pass this on to the team.
Thanks for sharing! Will be super helpful for others here!
Thanks for this.
Unsurprisingly fantastic. I am a car guy. I dream about motorcycles, but I know I can't risk my life on two wheels whenever I drive out. But I love Shumi's expression of exasperation at all the fussy car jargon, "personas", and minor features made out to be life-changing.
😂
Even by Tata Motors standards and their penchant for special editions, they have taken it way too far this time. I agree with Shumi. The bosses at Tata Motors slipped up, they could have curated this far better.
Too much meaningless choice makes it difficult to select the variant you want to buy. Nexon crossed that line and just kept on running, with someone sleeping at the wheel😅.
These discussions feel like a breath of fresh air for the hungry mind! Gamechanger!
One suggestion- Time availability is a real constraint for most of us. 3 formats-
Long(30-45min),
Medium(10-15min),
Short (your faq style series of shorts)
should serve a larger audience!
Thanks for the recommendation GS!
Thank you for the feedback. We will take that into consideration.
Happy to contribute😊
Shumi's subtle expressions breaking 4th wall are SO DAMN GOOOD!! Reminds me of kevin spacey in House of card s!!
😂 Thanks!
Prebooked without a test drive and my empowered plus LR delivery is day after tomorrow. Happy for this positive review...❤😁😁😁
Have fun! Congratulations!
Bro when did you book and where is your place.
Bangalore is one of the cities where the charging infrastructure is pretty good!
So minimal. So professional. Absolute gold. Love how you guys discuss and present.
Thank you for the kind words @AakashSingh999!
Noice! Glad to have an expert’s take. So how do you get around this? Because others have done it.
@@motorinc I would be happy to share once we do finish the right and usable solution, the process is still on.
@@pratiq7 Look forward to your update here. When you say 7% to 10%, does that include the top-buffer, please?
Thank you Anand! Good to know we are travelling well with you! 😁
Recently discovered your videos. Reminds me of my days on TV 25-30 years ago, and trying to get truth past the door-keepers. There wasn't much innernets then!
Onwards with my views on the Nexon EV, a car we both love, the spouse & I, the previous car we both loved almost 37-38 years ago was the MM540DP which we could take anywhere/everywhere btw (though the Nexon EV is mostly for city driving and 150-200kms around so I guess we may have grown older), and shall use our Nexon EV till the day it stops or the warranty doesn't work (after which I don't know but by then am very hopeful that the neighbourhood garage guy will by then figure out how to use the batteries/modules/pack for solar energy storage purposes, which is a work in progress, btw, on a damaged EV of another make lying around); and may be the last Tata Motors EV we buy if they don't sort out EV dedicated workshops in Bengaluru and Goa (though the Nexon EV ground clearance is its USP for us)
1) The older Nexon EV Prime had 4 lug-holes/bolts on the rim, the newer Nexon EV has 5.
- Delivery Dealer (showrooms and workshop within 3-4 kms from our place)
- Servicing Dealer (workshop about 15kms from our place)
a) Delivery Dealer - Paperwork was hand-written, with consequent errors across documentation, I'm still trying to sort that out.
We have driven nexon ev max on eco mode for 230km using 64% charge. 36% remaining and to our estimate we can run for more 100kms.
Woke up to this. Great start to the day💚

Must admit that I cannot believe the fact that I watch two persons talking about cars sitting on a chair for 30 minutes. Very engaging and informative!!
Thank you and we are so glad to see that you like this format of reviews.
@@motorinc Thanks :)
Car brands should feel completely at ease with their naming choices. Shumi and Kartikay are just waiting eagerly to shower them with endless praise and admiration for their impeccable taste in naming the variants.
All good things must be appreciated.
I am nexon prime was a nice touch. 🤖↔🚚 As always an engaging conversation!
Glad you liked it!
Thanks SV! Appreciate you sharing your learning’s! Will be super helpful to many!
Fast charging? Have you been using one?
Given the limitations of the charging infrastructure and batteries in general, speeding up the charging process won't be easy. Also, electric vehicles cannot serve as single vehicle garages if long distance road trip duties are expected. Also, no matter how quick the charging times become, one will have to wait for an hour, which also depends on whether charging slot is free or not.
As a country, Bharat needs a national EV technology mission. To develop all software, hardware design and battery technology and rare earth free motors, batteries, and design charging network.
Companies can then license this technology and build their own cars.
Interesting point!
@@motorinc I would argue that India should stop FAME2 subsidies and PLI schemes and use that money for developing core EV technologies. This will spur industrial development and value creation.
Being a resident of a tier-3 city, I am not very enthusiastic about EV 4-wheelers but I love listening to these guys. Keep up the good content.
Thanks so much for making us a part of your world! 🙏🏾
@@motorinc I don't see the reason why not so welcome.
Hi Kartikeya/Shumi,
Your channel and specifically these 101 conversations are just another level.
I fixed guys , the way both of you explained is cool , Tata will get one new customer, I will come back with my nexon ev soon
Well said! Thank you VR!
Fearless+ Petrol DCA is 16.4L and F+ EV LR is 19.4L
EMI Diff is around 5K (19k vs 24k), if you spend more than 60k per year in fuel + servicing then it makes sense to go EV, if not then use petrol while prices drop
This difference halves when you compare XZ+ tiago LR and XZA+ tiago AMT to 1.5L so technically, so does breakeven.
@@vardanrathi7777 60K difference per year for Nexon EV comes to 5y for 3L premium
The one for Tiago will be barely 2.5y
The 60k is worth only 600L of fuel per year ie 9K km of driving in a year@15kmpl, a reasonable mileage for Nexon petrol.

Thank you for the clarity. Please would you suggest nexon ev for a daily commute of around 80-100kms. Which is financially more viable ice or ev. If ice which one petrol or diesel.

Thanks Nirmal!
What an incredibly tight set! Thanks guys; was waiting for this specific video for quite some time. Might make the switch to EV with this facelift. Cheers!
Awesome! Thanks for keeping us posted! 👍🏽
Hullo! Thanks for zooming into that. Guessing you are based in Pune?
Electric version gets rear disc brakes also, front connected drl
Yessah! Rear discs were there on Max too. The LED indicator doesn’t stay on. It goes off after the charging process gets going.
Perfect time , yesterday on the way to office I was listening to ICE episode on Amazon, and I get to see this. By the way I have seen so many episodes even while just listening to it in the car I could imagine the facial expressions and shuttle non verbal communication between two of you.
Hahah Awesome!
Shumi go soft on K! Also show a few longer videos of the car as well when specific points are being discussed, makes us want to look at the screen more. Love the way Shumi looks at the camera to drive a point home! Kudos!
Thanks Ankit!
@@motorinc Oh I didn't read that part, you're right then it's just a gimmick.
Thanks Ashiq!
Absolutely fantastic video. Kudos to both of you.

Thanks!!
🙌
This video length is very good, the ICE one was a little long. This length is perfect.
Noted! Thank you.
I love the intro music!!! 🖤🖤🖤

Thanks for the suggestion! We wouldn’t mind that at all. ❤️
You forgot the charging indicator on the front led strip.
It’s forgettable. More of a gimmick.
Love the conversation..... Keep it this way
❤️
Ermm.. last para.
@@motorinc I meant variant without ac fast charger

Thanks for in-depth and clear analysis of the delta that has come in the gen2 of nexon ev.
Hey Sumit! Thanks for being here with us!
Hi guys. You missed a point. Unlike the ICE, the EV gets a front center position lamp end-to-end which lights up in a nice animation upon vehicle start. It also shows the battery charging level as the vehicle charges.
Yes it isn’t all that useful - as the light only stays on for a bit when it starts charging. So you can’t really check charge status using that.
@@motorinc Oh well.
Really appreciate you talking about single-pedal driving. 😊
I have one question, when it comes to aggressive regen, how important it is to engage the break light for safety concern ❓
The brake light is engaged when regen braking occurs. 😀

Thank you!! We will try and see what can be done about this.
I would like to point out the DC charging speed for the Pre Facelift.
They advertised 50Kwh, however its 30Kwh.
Love watching you guys ♥️
Thanks for sharing that ❤️!
7:55 to 9:09 that was amazing. If you know what’s I mean. 😜
Such a cool intro!
Thank you, Samuel.
Hey folks,
What about the new 45kw version, does it make the Nexon unmatched now?
I love the intro song of this channel
Having an small tv in the car while charging is all good. But how about the Aircon? How does it influence the charging time if the the aircon is kept on while watching the movie?
Can all those cameras act as a Dashcam to record and store footage?
Like Tesla.
Just front and back or 360⁰ possibly?
Back after few days.. Loved the conversation...
Thank you!
It would be nice if this convo go for more long!!! It was so interesting
Thanks!
Great conversation
Binging your channel
Glad to hear that! Any feedback?
Kind of an unrelated question but what are your thoughts about Verna getting 5 Stars GNCAP rating?
We think that's great but one should not take that for granted and drive irresponsibly. That's true for every car, star rated or not.
@@motorinc what do u think about 5star ratings at 64km/hr with UNSTABLE BODYSHELL? Good enuf to pass the 5star exam but a killer in real world? Verna Safe or unsafe at 70km/hr or above?
(Yes, assuming driving responsibly but accidents happen)
With that a kind of summarising skill Shumi can be a motivation speaker
We wonder if he's on the TED talk panel 😂
Like you said in nexon ice videos, which variant would be the one to go for in your opinion?
I have a suggestion for your next Thisconnect podcast (waiting for Season 2 btw) ... The topic : Different Road Conditions in India (and otherwise) Expressways, National Highways, State Highways, Town/Village Roads, Bypasses, and how one should safely navigate while on them, w.r.t speed, alertness, type of cars/bikes being ridden, traffic density etc.
Thanks for the recommendation BR! Good one!
@@motorinc and one more .. a podcast on what many would call the most iconic motorcycle .. the Entire Bonneville series . 🙂 just coz i own both the t120 and my wife rides the street twin.. would really like to see what Shumi's take is on this (fingers crossed )
Both videos are very informative and specific, got me more clarity on the EV. Any chance to get a Hybrid for TATA ?
Tata wont bring hybrids as of now.
We are not ready for full EV's yet till we have the grid setup everywhere :) Hybrids are the way to go atleast for me is what i think , hope we get better hybrids @@dgupta42
Hey
Thank you so much for this. I was eagerly waiting.
Could you also please comment on the headlight performance. No one else is talking about it. It was just a small worry I had.
Love all your videos. ❤
We didn’t drive it in the dark, so we couldn’t really test it out.
Whenever Shumi says "I Understand" in reply to Karthik.. it just reminds me of some interviewer who plans next question based on your answer just to trap you. 🤯🤯
