I would love a new Legends game regardless of the region they put it in.
Personally, I think it could be fun for us to get a new Pokemon Legends game that combines Johto and Kanto into one big region; the two regions seem a bit connected, but I think most of that was the Gen 2 games feeling a need to lean on what the Gen 1 games had because they didn't have much that was pre-established at that point. Also, it could be a nice little nod to Toby's theory regarding the lack of Dragon-type Pokemon in the Kanto region. And by doing this, they could fill the entire ancient region that would eventually be broken up into the modern regions of Kanto and Johto with some pre-established Dragon-type, but they could also use it as a bit of an excuse to introduce entirely new Dragon-types we haven't seen in the modern era into this Legends styled region; maybe even have time set to after the event of Mout Moon's arrival and the emergence of Fairy-type Pokemon to the region. While in the modern era, Fairy-type is an established typing that we have a very clear understanding of, for the most part, in this more ancient time, that wouldn't be the case because these types would be so unfamiliar to the region and people in it.
Maybe we could even see what dug out the tunnels in Mount Moon, because it clearly wasn't Diglet or Onyx, Onyx only shows up in Mount Moon in the Let's Go games; in the more classic Gen 1 games, they're in a completely different area where things are much more difficult. Personally, I like to think it was a version of the Garchomp line were the ones that dug out tunnels, and all the dead ends we find in Mount Moon are the places where they first encountered Fairy-types, and their self-preservation instincts kicked in for a retreat after their aggressive territorial tendencies worked against them when they tried fighting Fairy-types for the first time. But that's a discussion for another time, and maybe a video.
Yes, I’d love a Legends Celebi to come in November 2024. Johto shares a connection to Sinnoh through the Sinjo Ruins to link the two games, plus the map could treat Kanto and Johto as one region in ancient times. It’s be especially fun if at the top of Mt Silver was the player character from PLA.
i think it should be more than that add the sinjoh ruins and the sevi islands
that would be perfect cause of the history of trying to put johto and kanto in one game and you know next year is a pretty big year for pokemon so that could be a kind of fun thing to do
I’m wondering if we might possibly be getting a Roaring 20s NY Legends Unova game, part of the thing about that half of the 1900s was extensive organized crime in places like NYC and Chicago, and that opens the way for a gang war subplot that gives us ‘Villainous Teams’ that reference other regions and games from the series.
My theory is sort of based on the idea that "Game Freak likes to keep fans guessing" and doesn't like doing the exact same thing every year, whilst loosely taking a winning forumla and running with it.
I like the gen 2 and 5 themes that have been pointed out in this video. One other thing I will highlight is Paradox pokemon, specifically that they come from both the past AND the future. They've already done the past for a "Legends" game, so with that in mind I think what they may do next is an ILCA remake of HeartGold/SoulSilver and in addition have a Legends: Arceus style game set in 'Future Unova', a region that would be perfect for that sort of setting. I reckon it'd be quite a clever swerve.
Awesome video Toby 😃
I was thinking about what regions other than Unova and Johto would be cool to see the past of, and Kalos I think has potential. but then I got thinking, what if instead of a legends game, we got a Kalos game in the style of Conquest?
I think it’s honestly a toss up between which region gets the next game, either Johto or Unova. But I’ve always leaned more towards Johto since legends Arceus came out and then when SV came out
I have a gut feeling we're going to get a Legends Johto game soon. Where there'll be a bigger emphasis on the Sinjoh Ruins and the Kimono Girls. Togepi, Celebi and the crystal phenomena will likely be key aspects (Pokemon Crystal was a Johto game so Paldea's terra crystal phenomena could likely be tied in here)
Thanks for the shout out bro!
I would say Unova will come before Johto because let’s be frank, heart gold and silversoul WERE the best remakes and you can’t beat them so they’d really have to give us a crazy good gimmick. However it’s well known how the Unova storyline is the most liked storyline.
I think it’s Unova. Since we had enough hints to tell us the new console is coming the end of 2024 beginning of 2025, they won’t be releasing a whole new generation, which means before that happens we either get johto or Unova
I feel like everyone wanting Unova kinda says the reality
Also johto drags Kanto back in and I think we’re all sick and tired of Kanto lol. Even if they did a let’s Go Johto they’d have to add Kanto somehow 😩 we need a break from Kanto for another 3 years please
YES
My top favorite Gen is tied with Johto and Unova and how much those Pokemon have been getting love and attention, and now even a new part of Unova(!), is such a treat. Pokemon is truly an amazing franchise, even despite all the flaws in their system of game output. GameFreak and The Pokemon Company truly love their franchise.
MY preference would be a Legends Johto with Unova remakes (BW2 being made postgame) or BW3. Legends Johto could be set just before the tower burns and so we get ingame lore that connect Lugia to the Legendary birds of Kanto, as well as a plot that gives reason for the Ruins of Alph having a research team while other Unown Ruins simply exist in their regions. Unova we could see all the protagonists and rivals fully established in their roles (if BW3), additional counterpart Pokemon like Toedscruel, we could finally get to see the Village of Dragons too.
How would they do BW2 as a postgame to BW remakes?
"Congratulations on defeating Ghetsis and saving the world. Now we're going to erase all the Pokemon you caught and start you over from the beginning so that you can play the same game again with a few small changes. Have fun!"
I love the gen 5 games, but that sounds genuinely awful.
@@Celestia282 BW2 had more than a “few” small changes, like for example the plot is literally set 2 years into the future and everything has changed within that time span. You’re confusing it as a 3rd version which it’s not either wise we’d have gotten Pokémon Gray.
@a.x.x8184 BW2 is one of my favorites. I've replayed it almost a dozen times and sunk hundreds of hours into it.
You are drastically over exaggerating the changes.
Tbh the Sparkling White and Glistening Black names sound more like we might get a Black and White 3D remake
There is one thing that was kind of misunderstood is that Khu specifically says that one of the characters in the Indigo Disk reveal art would be integral to the lore and even contain spoilers for the next GAME after the DLC (Sudachi referring to the DLC). So Khu talking about the Indigo Disk being the only return to Unova wouldn't make sense since it's literally the same game. That alone would kind of throw out the whole "oh we're returning to Unova but ONLY in the DLC" but there are also numerous leaks that confirm we will be getting something Black and White related. In those leaks they said that the game we'd be getting would be remakes and a new game but it wouldn't be considered as a "Legends" game and they mostly refer to it as Black and White Paradox. I don't think we're getting a straight up new game in 2024 either over just normal remakes, but I still do thing we will be getting it this generation. I would love a Legends Johto since with Celebi the whole time travel thing still works but there aren't any hints really going for it other than the attention to Johto Pokémon. Khu and other leakers have only ever been referring to the Indigo Disk and the next games being in Unova as of late so that leads me to believe we will be getting Unova sooner and then hopefully a Johto game later on. The only way I can see that both getting a Johto game first, and Khu's information being right would be is Khu refers to the "Next Game" as if it's a brand new story and adventure and isn't counting remakes as the "Next Game". So that could mean we'd get a Johto remake, but not a Legends Johto or anything like that. Same goes for Unova games, in that case we would be getting the remakes first and then the very last game before Gen 10 is the new Unova game. It should be noted that Generation 10 will most likely come out during the 30th anniversary so that means we have the potential to get more games than normal in Gen 9 compared to Gen 8 having 3 games come out before the next Gen (Sw/Sh, BDSP, PLA) since there will be 4 years in between Gens as opposed to the normal 3 years.
I can't wait for my sweater!! Thank you Toby! You're absolutely killing these last videos. Love the direction you took it
As a big fan of both Johto and Unova, I would be happy with either region getting a remake/legends game.
Johto had HGSS so its turn is done.

@Bird Keeper Toby
The Blueberry Academy is either in/near Bermuda, or the São Miguel Islands--as São Miguel is still near Spain/Portugal, but between New York.
Bermuda is the perfect shape & size for a floating/man-made School in the ocean--and Terapagos IS the World Turtle/Dragon Palace from Momotarō.
I can't be the only one who thinks that picture of Alder in PLA looks like ogerpon with the orange head and green robes
I'm still not convinced that Lacey is related to Clay. The only evidence people point to are the gems in her hair clips and her name is ALMOST an anagram of Clay. Why would we get another relative of Clay when we just had Lian in Legends Arceus?
Ditto. It seems like Pokemon theorists are all extremely hit or miss. When they make a theory that makes sense, it makes a lot of sense. When they make up nonsense, they try and convince us that Lacey is an anagram of Clay, no seriously! Trust me dude; that e isn't even important.
@@Celestia282 Exactly. Pokémon theorists are either completely right or completely wrong, no in-between. Nice Celestia pfp, btw.
Great video Bird Keeper Toby. I love all these hints to a new Unova game especially with the Indigo Disk Blueberry Academy taking place in Unova. I can see the Blueberry Elite Four being descendants of characters in Unova such as Lacey being the granddaughter of Clay, Crispin being the son of Chili, Amarys being the granddaughter of Lenora and Drayton being the grandson of Drayden. I would personally like to see Black 3 and White 3 where it could take place 10 years after Black 2 and White 2.
This ^ I can see Unova 3 where we are a graduating student from the blueberry academy, going on an adventure! It would give you enough time between the generations that it is NOT necessary to play the past 2 games. It wouldn’t be hard for them to make their own storyline, especially since I feel like indigo disk is a trial for exactly that!
I thought they were reference to Rising Volt Tacklers. There's the nurse girl, the chef dude, the mechanic girl and... Drayton kinda looked like Friede to me with his brown jacket and white hair. Also Friede has a Charizard, which is NOT a dragon type but... It's considered as a dragon, like Lance has it.
@@RowanWolf22 The story ended off in BW2 and it’s be stupid to bring team plasma and Ghetsis back only to lose again makes Ghetsis be the typical Villain getting his ass handed to him.
gen 5 remakes are probably coming in gen 10.
why? because every single remake (after the original) came out at the generation double it's number.
gen 2 in gen 4, gen 3 in gen 6 and gen 4 in gen 8.
so the formula is (only if it's even):
current gen/2 = remake gen
I did not expect the gist of the video to be "Unova? Probably not next actually",
because I fully agree!
To add to the point about BB Academy being in Unova,
they could've easily tied the Teal Mask to Johto in some way, like say that it's a northern part of it or anything,
but they chose to not have it related to it at all.
Meanwhile we are literally going to a place that is said to be IN Unova. It feels more like we're going there because we're not going to more of it in a whole game anytime soon.
As Kalos was my first game I really want a Ledgends Kalos which explores more of Az and the war. But that'll probably be year's away.
Dude I love Kalos it was my sixth gen but I still want a Pokémon Z
At this rate I don't care. Just a game set in Kalos is more than enough that being a sequel, remake or legends.
@@SoulSloth147 same. I think it’s my favorite region and maybe even my favorite gen. I think my favorites are gen 3 & gen 6 to be honest.
O lord😮! I cut the video for that gif & uploaded it. So cool to see it here & that you still like it ☺️.
You missed the context of Khu's tweet. He said whats coming next after Sudachi 2. Sudachi 2 is the DLC. We're getting Unova gamrs next year
Kitakami is also very Johto coded. So all the Gen 2 love might be alluding to that, just as the Gen 5 love could be alluding to the Indigo Disc.
If it's true that they're planning the remake of Pokemon Black and Pokemon White for next year then I'm hoping it's better than Pokemon Brilliant and Pokemon Shining Pearl Games because I wanted the graphic designs of the characters and the scenery to be more like Pokemon Sword/Shiled and Pokemon Scarlet/Violet games.
With Khu’s track record, it f he’s saying we’re getting gen 5 remakes that pretty much confirms we’re not.
As a day one unova fan this brings me joy
Johto (gen2) remakes came out in gen 4
Hoenn (gen3) remakes came out in gen 6
Sinnoh (gen 4) remakes came out in gen 8
UNOVA CONFORMED FOR GEN 10
Also Gold and Silver got remakes in Generation 4, Ruby and Sapphire got remakes in Gen 6, Diamond and Pearl got remakes in Gen 8. All doubles of their original generation. So maybe Black and White, Gen 5, will get remakes in Generation 10
DLC aside, if you look at SV thematically it mirrors BW, most directly. The seasons represented across the map, and then the mirrored elements from Opelucid Gym, with each version either representing the Past in Black and the Future in White.
if there is Unova remake or sequel, I want them to be compiled with Alola together, so it’s 2 region in 1 game, since Unova and Alola are both part of the USA Pokémon regions
Legends johto would be cool but I want a black and white 3 or new adventure in unova maybe you’ll be a student at blueberry academy and it will pick up right after or during the SV dlc - have a red type battle where you fight the player from SV
Shirt ordered! Thank you for doing what you do!
I feel like the Unova games will come out in 2026/2027 as part of Gen X (10). The new Switch is rumored to release in late-2024 so Gen 10 in 2025, then Unova in 2026?
Further kinda proof for Gen 10 being on a new system is. Gen 4-5 was DS, 6-7 was 3DS, 8-9 on Switch
If a new gen is 2025 it’ll very likely have dlc released in 2026.
If we don’t get some kind of unova game that does some kind of conclusion to the ingo storyline I’m not playing Pokémon anymore
Bet we are getting gen 5 remake and gen 2 in Legends style
Love your videos!!!! We will miss you!
I've noticed that all but gen 1 remakes happened on their gen times 2. Gen 2 remade in gen 4. Gen 3 in 6 and 4 in 8. My guess is gen 5 remakes in gen 10
Personally, I think we could get it in gen 10 as gen 2 remakes released 2 gens after their release, Gen 3 remakes released 3 gens after their initial release, and gen 4 released as part of gen 8. But I mean hey not gonna happen cuz like I’m always wrong
I think there will be three games. The remake of black and white. Legends or let's go Johto will the third
I hope we get more lore on the original dragon aka perfect kyurem as the nickname
Yooo Tobyyy, I'm super excited for a new Unova game, whether its Legends or Black and White 3, I'm hyped. Excited for your video as always 🐐.
What I find funny that a GF just did Let's Go ones and Legends once and everyone is thinking they would do them for all regions. I find it more plausible that they would do different things for different regions, like future or villain-won-AU stuff. I think next game would be set in future since the immediate previous game of Scarlet was in the past, it makes the immediate next one to be in future. Since GS has 25th anniversary next year, maybe that would be a good candidate for the future game. I think both Unova and Hoenn are good candidates for villain-won-AU stuff, and they can have both. While the Unova one would be evil empire vs rebellion stuff, the Hoenn one would be post apocalyptic. Though for both we would need 2 versions. In Unova's case, the main difference would be the legendary Pokémon Team Plasma would have while in Hoenn's case the whole biome we live in would be different depending on the version. I haven't thought about other regions though.
That's what I currently think would be cool and maybe that's wishful thinking and one could say they won't do that but hey, did we know they would make Legends Arceus?
It’s so satisfying to know where getting canto, jhoto, unova and alola
Also, until the Indigo Disc is actually released, the Tepig and Snivy lines are not in any switch game, somehow
Minior isn’t also in any mainline Switch title, or at least, not hard confirmed
Leaks confirm it, but still
I like how you made a distinction between remakes and an ILCA game.
Hot take! We get both johto and unova but johto is in the past and unova is in the future!
I think, Legends Johto and black and white remake (hopefully not just a chibi remaster) so ALL THE HINTS ARE RIGHT
I definitely think the next game is a Legends game in Unova, which I personally want to be set in the future instead of the past like Legends Arceus was. The only thing I can see them doing with Johto is "Let's Go" games, since the last one was set in Kanto.
While there may not seem to be a pattern with the remakes, I've noticed that with the exception of gen 1, the remakes happened in a generation that was double the original (gen 2 in gen 4, gen 3 in gen 6, gen 4 in gen 8) i would think unova might get something in gen 10 if that pattern continues. Gen 1 is the only one that doesn't follow due to it being more or less the same hardware as gen 2 (gb and gbc don't have enough differences to remake gen 1, not to mention they weren't expecting a hit franchise as big as it is
Keep rocking it toby
If I were Gamefreak, Legends Johto would make more economic sense than BW Remakes given that the Switch Successor needs a strong game lineup on launch.
Legends Alola could feature more Ultra Beasts, but could primarily show the size of the ultra necropolis or whatever the city is called. Maybe get gifted a poipole as the starter
Legends UK, with Elite Four Toby
It's all a guessing game, which is part of the fun and mystery. The Indigo Disk DLC being based in Unova makes it somewhat unlikely that we get a Unova remake but we do get Unova Pokémon added in the DLC I think. Also a Johto Legends version or whatever can make sense since Celebi being the Time Travel Pokémon they can easily migrate that from a game or multiple games.
There will probably be a Unova game at some point this generation or soon after. If we strictly follow history, a Let's Go game would come first, but the release schedule for remakes has never been very consistent.
GameFreak has to develop games really fast, so I believe they were hinting both Johto and Unova games before they even decided what to develop. They're covering their bases just in case they develop either or both.
Clearly they have plans for both. Let's Go sold really well, and Legends was praised for its new gameplay. There are loose ends in Legends Arceus that involve both Johto and Unova. Even the story of people and Pokemon learning to work together, and questioning the use of Pokeballs is a story straight out of Unova.
I mean that Sparkling White and Glistering Black is actually smart.-- Terrasteralization reference
Hear me out here, we're getting a Legends Johto AND a Legends Unova. Johto in the past, and Unova in the future.
This is probably unlikely but that if we got both a Legends Johto and a Black and White remake if not visa verse
Funnily enough, I kind of found proof in Gen 4 remakes through lack of representation in Sword and Shield: the fossils being excluded in the Crown Tundra, no regional forms of any Sinnoh Pokémon, etc.
The gaps between Gen 2, 3 and 4 remakes has also been pretty consistent with the remake happening every two generations.
I would like a legends Johto for the story of the burned tower, but highkey legends Unova with the original dragon story would be a great choice too.
Either way i wouldn't mind qhat region we revisit, but seeing as i never played a game based in Jhoto it would be cool if that was the next region being revisited
if we are getting a legends Johto game, I think it could be a joint Kanto and Johto legends game, makes sense because whenever we have had a Johto game we also get Kanto so, and it would be interesting how they handle that
Let's GO/Legends Johto will happen in 2024~25.
BW ? in 26~27.
I hope we see some Variants for Hoenn and Sinnoh Pokémon soon.
Legends Johto makes more sense than G2S2 or remakes as learning more about the history of Johto makes sense to me. Maybe they’d get remakes too like BDSP did but the main headline would be Legends Johto.
Legends Unova probably would not be likely since they’re introducing so many new characters and Pokémon associated with Unova. I feel like a B3W3 is on the horizon and some of the characters from Indigo Disk like Drayton will make an appearance as gym leaders or side characters. If we get a Legends Unova in the far past or for future we likely would not see these characters would would then be a waste, why build them up to not use them again in the same generation as when they were introduced. Especially with the addition of Enamorus, giving it another game it can properly appear in would be really cool.
I don’t really care what region it is, just please make legends a series.(unova would be cool though)
If they keep up the trend of when they make remakes, it wont be until generation 10. Gen 1 is the only outlier here. Gen 2 got remade in Gen 4, Gen 3 got remade in Gen 6, Gen 4 got remade in Gen 8. They could also do a Gen 1 and remake gen 5 in Gen 9. Gen 1 got remade in Gens 3 and 7.
Everything we've seen is pretty heavily tied to a Gen 5 remake, even from one of your previous videos talking about all the connections with time travel between Unova and Paldea.
Kitakama is a small location in Japan that is between the regions of Kansai and Hokkaido, the regions that Johto and Sinnoh are based off of, respectfully. Maybe there is a connection there? Sinjoh ruins?
I'm still holding out for a Johto game. If it happens I will (wait to see if it's a functional product and worth the price or if I can get it second hand for less then) buy it. I only played the first 3 gens then Arceus. None of the other stuff appeals to me. Appealing to my nostalgia for gen 2 is the only way I'm going to play another Pokemon game.
I think a Legends Johto - Paradox Unova is what's gonna happen
I just want to see zinnia one more time 😢
I fear that the glistening black and sparkling white dialog is hinting that we will get black and white remakes similar to brilliant diamond and shining pearl. I would hate that so much.
Give us either legends kyrem or legends celebi but dear god do not give us another bdsp type remake!
Is it a little messed up to name games after tragedies in Hawaii? Pearl harbor is a pretty big deal and volcanos are a threat to the people of Hawaii. Pearl harbor was a battle ground where kamikaze pilots fought against war ships and the Hawaiian islands are active volcanos waiting to erupt. It's like naming games "pokemon: twin towers and pokemon: pentagon". Cool sounding names, but it's in bad taste lol.
5:56 lol what does any of the blue and orange marks mean?
I was totally telling everyone they were wrong about Hoenn confirmed in Gen5 xD
8:06 because that doesn't make any world building sense, why would Unova Pokemon have different forms in Unova?
Notice how NO Gen 4 Pokemon got a Hisuian form, because that's WHERE they're already from
I find it hilarious all the Poketubers are focusing on the Unova hints when there are just as many if not more Johto hints and its been longer since we revisited Johto and there's a Johto anniversary next year.
Kitakami is basically just testing what open world Johto would be like
Toby literally talks about Johto as much as Unova here
Johto had its time with HGSS. Don't need another Johto game
@@JamieAlexander18Kanto had Let’s Go. A 2DS remake doesn’t cut it anymore.
to be fair, there is a Johto anniversary every year. that’s how anniversaries works
Whatever we get next, I just hope they take their damn time developing it 🤞🤞
Legit, i think they perfected gen 2 and gen 5 at this point. The only thing i would want really is new battle forms for Lugia and Ho-oh and to finally see the true dragon of all 3 coming back to one.
However, Kalos needs a redemption. Pokemon Legends Z or something. I feel like there's more potential there. More that needs to be explored.
Not gonna lie, I would love any new pokemon game at this point. Just take my money gamefreak.
I just think Johto is more likely to come next because it's been longer since we've been there.
By what a few months/ A Year? BW DEBUTED in 2010 where as HgSs did as well just earlier if not late 2009 and HgSs are remakes idk where tf johto fans think they’re in line for remakes again like no it’s Unovas Turn if anything get the BdSp or Let’s go treatment 💀
As far as EX in Gen 5. It was a revamp of lower case ex. Which came from Gen 3. The return of lower case ex this year is more like the Gen 3 ex. Ace spec is basically the only big thing that returned in the card game that was directly from Gen 5. So I’m not really seeing any major hint’s besides that in the tcg
Has nothing to do with Unova exactly but does have to do with Legends related stuff: been tossing around the idea that the Hub World would actually be in Ultra Space that uses the Wormholes to get not only to different locations, but times. So we could be Paleolithic era for the original fossil pokemon, in Kalos during the War or even a region in the far future. We could see ancestors past, future, and present of characters that may even comment on the Player Character meeting their past ancestors. We can see ‘true’ past and future pokemon not identified as “Paradox” too.
My theory is that they're going to remake BW1 in Scarlet and Violet style, and it's Pokemon Gray, the game that B2W2 substituted. The whole gimmick could be that the game is from an alternate timeline, where there's Terasteel and Terapagos.
Toby missed that the top of the blueberry academy looks like the top part of a Heavy Ball 👀
Toby I'm fairly certain I know how they're gonna do this, and it's based on all the new Paradox Pokemon from the DLC. You see, they've done past forms of Johto's legendary beasts and future forms of Unova's Swords of Justice trio. So I think that's the key. We're getting Legends: Johto and a future version of Unova, we'll tentatively refer to it as "Paradox: Unova", as a complete counterpart to a Legends game, where it takes place in the far future instead of the historical past. So 2024 is Legends: Johto, 2025 is Paradox: Unova, and 2026 is Gen X for the 30th Anniversary of the franchise. This makes too much sense not to be true, that is why this is correct.
While I don’t think we’ll see any Black and White remakes any soon, I do think it’s likely with all the hints that it will come out before Gen 10 in 2025 and very likely will be the first Pokémon game on the Switch’s successor!
can't wait for pokemon black and white 3 :)
I can't explain how much I want a Johto remake done well. I will die happy if they improve on Legends Arceus with a Legends Johto. I will be crushed beyond recovery if they do a let's go Johto. 2D HD remakes I think would be great, for both games.
I think you're right with all the hints you found, but I just feel like Game Freak refuse to announce anything predictable these days, no way I'd have predicted primal legends ORAS, ILCA made BDSP or historic adventure PLA. I kinda want them to stop surprising us and just release a solid legends Johto and Legends Unova games
Thought it was interesting the amount of times you can visit each region that's not got a game on switch:
Johto - 5
Hoenn - 5
Sinnoh - 6
Unova - 4
Kalos - 2
Alola - 4
I know they'll do it based on age, but really I think Kalos is the game most obviously undercooked in the whole franchise. There's so many questions to answer in the region but it could be another decade before people ask for a remake of that.
The ultimate weapon, the empty train station, AZ, the random powerplant doors, WHO THE WAR WAS WITH seeing as we've visited two neighbouring countries now and neither mention a war with Kalos.
Dude piss off you johto fans are annoying Y’all deserve the Secondary treatmeant for actual mainline remakes Unova is next. Just stop you guys had your turn.
I also agree a Unova remake is too soon. Yes we had two generations straight of remakes but that was when Pokémon as a franchise had no formulaic footing yet. Ever since, the big remakes have been Gens 4, 6, and 8. Yes there was Let’s Go as an exception, but that’s actually what I was thinking about. I think the next games are Let’s Go Johto games. They probably require significantly less effort than a Legends game, and if afterwards they’re working on the Gen 10 mainlines, I’d hope they’d be delegating at least half of their criminally understaffed staff to that. In my heart I like to think that the Unova love is just an homage to the shift on perspective of this region in the recent years, where saying that B2W2 are the franchise’s peak is no longer a controversial, or even underrated opinion. Despite how massively corporate they are, I actually think Pokémon have a decent understanding of their fanbase. Their social media pages are actually pretty culturally savvy. So yeah. For Gen 5 love - homage, not preparation. For Gen 2 love - homage AND preparation.
the best games pokemon could do next are: open world black and white 1 and 2 remake (the 2 in the form of dlc), let's go johto and legends rayquaza (maybe helping the draconids from ancient hoenn to put the region in peace as we found it in the present day, with all the main legendaries and reggies sealed away).
I mean, while I more or less agree, you keep saying things like "it's too soon for a new full game/remake"....which is EXACTLY what you said when SV was announced. the big surprise they'd told us to expect just couldn't possibly be the next new region main series game, it was just "too soon" after Legends and BDSP. *and yet* there it was, SV. clearly, they like making a liar out of you and will not stick to a reasonable schedule.
Pokémon Legends: Ho-Oh has a nice ring to it
Honestly, some of these "hints" feel like bigger stretches than many of the "Hoenn remake hints". Yes, Yveltal and Xerneas were red and blue, but no, those were not hints to Ruby and Sapphire remakes, even if those remakes did come out soon after. Not everything is a hint.
I do feel a Unova game is coming soon. It's the next generation up for remakes after all. But I don't think we're getting a Legends Unova game, nor BW3.
Are there hints for Legends Unova? Maybe, but same goes for Legends Johto, and some of those hints feel even stronger. The Paradox forms of the Legendary Beasts pose a lot of questions, specifically based around the fact we don't know what Pokemon died in that fire. The story doesn't even confirm that their resurrection changed what they were, which is part of the fuel for that "imaginary Pokemon" nonsense theory. And that fire is a Johto legend. The Paradox forms of the Swords of Justice don't pose a question, and being future forms kind of goes against the idea of a legend, so it doesn't even hint at a connection there. Besides, most of the Paradox Pokemon are based on Johto and Unova Pokemon, an almost equal split, with both regions also having a Pokemon with a past and future form, Donphan (Iron Treads and Great Tusk) and Volcarona (Iron Moth and Slither Wing), though it's the Johto one that got attention in the story. Blueberry Academy is in the Unova region, and judging by the real world inspiration, Kitakami is near Johto, Kanto, and Sinnoh, though for this point only Johto matters, though I could see a Legends Johto game showing the connections between those regions anyway.
Also, the Duraludon evolution? No way that would be a hint at an upcoming game. It doesn't make sense to design a Pokemon solely to hint at one upcoming game. A reference to the new game it's revealed in? Sure. To older regions? Yeah. But released in one game solely to hint at another? Not likely. If that was a hint at anything, it was at the location of Blueberry Academy, not an upcoming game.
A lot of the other "hints" have the same issue where they might be connections, but they likely aren't hints. Not every possible connection to a region is a hint at an upcoming game for that region
Legends Johto feels more likely for the next game of that series, but a Unova remake is coming as the next remake. And a sequel, BW3, is not happening. The story there is done. But I won't argue against the possibility of a return to a region outside of a remake or Legends game. I want them to do that, return to regions but with all new stories and new Pokemon, and I don't want those ideas limited to Legends. But I wouldn't classify those as sequels unless they actually continued the story of the originals, which I would rather they didn't do.
I think the problem with a Legends Unova game (and every region after gen 5) is that while they have established history, it all takes place 3000 years ago (or 2000 years in Paldea's case). They can't set a Legends game that far in the past because Poke Balls didn't exist. It was well established in Legends Arceus that Poke Balls were a recent invention, and that game takes place, at most, 300 years ago. They could set games in this era, but they'd have to be spin-offs with a different core mechanic.
On the other hand, the Johto region is the only one with established history that takes place after the invention of Poke Balls: the burning of Brass Tower. Johto also very conveniently already has a legendary Pokemon associated with time travel if they want to keep with the isekai story and time-space distortion mechanic, and we all know how much Gamefreak loves making the exact same game over and over again. They could even staple Kanto onto Johto like in the regular games if they want to scratch that Kanto remake itch again, and they certainly can't leave that alone for long.
It just makes the most sense to do Johto. But, they did base the first Legends game on Sinnoh, which had no established history, so who knows? Maybe that means the next will be just Kanto with no Johto attached.
I think the one detail that does seriously work against a Legends Johto game is the starters. In Legends Arceus, we very specifically did not get the Sinnoh starters, and they also did not just import starters from another region. They gave us three starters from three different regions, and it would be only natural to do that again with those same three starter trios for the next two Legends games to give all of them regional forms and a chance in the spotlight. Since Cyndaquil was one of the Arceus starters, that means that the next game (should) have either Chikorita or Totodile and that the next game will absolutely not be in Johto (or Unova or Alola). Given that, I unironically think that Legends Kanto might be the next game, no matter how much I may not want it.
Its just interesting that they showed love to BOTH Gen 2 and Gen 5 in these DLCs..... Can go either way, I won't be mad either way but honestly Gen 2 Legends would be COOL
Really hoping we get a Legends Johto
My predictions? Remakes of black and white. Legends game of Johto
It would be funny if we got legends games for both Johto and Unova
We are getting huge gen 5 love but maybe its because we are not getting a gen 5 remake or such....
