Great goal to have! So many films, so little time...

Some great watches! I have quite a few of those I am more likely to get to now. I added 'Stranger Than Paradise', 'Quadrophenia' and 'Husbands' to my collection today.

Hi James, I couldn't get thru SLACKER either, just not for me. Glad you like RIFIFI, THE HEIRESS, IKIRU, PICNIC AT HANGING ROCK, all great movies.I'm taking your recommendation on THE LAST EMPEROR, to try it again (saw it in 1987, couldn't get into it then). I love A SPECIAL DAY too, maybe try that one again, you may like it more. Wow, I was waiting for your #1 and YES!! COLONEL BLIMP is a flaming masterpiece!!!

Glad you got to through most of your films. Ill join in on the October watch and list mine in your October list teveal. Of the ones of ive seen from your list Picnic at Hanging Rock and Ikiru are my flippable top 2. Picnic is not for a viewer who wants a nice tidy wrapped up story at the end. Ikiru is a masterpiece of a human study of character.

Really enjoyed this format--this could be a monthly feature.

Always heard about Heiress and Col. Blimp, good things, but have always passed, but now I'm really interested to investigate more seriously. Picnic at Hanging Rock, have seen twice on Criterion Channel and really liked, but too soon to buy the disc. Rififi, on my buy list for a few months now, glad you enjoyed, excellent reviews about how well the heist scene was filmed and you definitely agreed. Slackers, tried to watch on a streaming service a year or so ago, quit about half way in, so disappointing because I had high hopes. Enjoyed, thanks James.

One of my all-time wishes is a Powell and Pressburger set of films in 4k. The cinematography with Jack Cardif is breathtaking. I already have The Red Shoes and Tales of Hoffman but the others in 4K would be great!

Good work James and love the format of this video. I couldn’t agree more on your 3rd and 1st place selections. I am excited to check out the Heiress given your strong comments. Looking forward to the next installment. Take care.

I watched Slacker in high school and it helped open my eyes to what's out there. I saw Picnic at Hanging Rock last year and it really did nothing for me, I was quite bored. I'll have to revisit it sometime, I feel like I was missing something.
totally unrelated but I watched Aki Kaurismäki's "Match Factory Girl" last night from the Eclipse series and it was incredible! Beautifully shot, dry, deadpan humor, bleak vibe. Really interesting and I can't wait to check out more of his movies. Definitely recommended if you like Jim Jarmusch
