He knew from the start what dangers his family were going to be involved in and attacked his eldest every time he said good morning both to heighten his son's reflexes and combat instinct as well as to reinforce the already-present desire to protect people. And NOT doing the same with his daughters only puts even more pressure on his son to be the family protector. All the while hiding his and his wife's past from his children and doing his part to keep in contact with Urahara if Ichigo ever needed a "mentor". There's even a scene where Isshin and Ryuken argue over who's been the more neglectful parent as they both let their sons embark on an extremely dangerous journey to Hueco Mundo and opt not to go with them.

As a parent who's kid has separation anxiety and superhuman rage, I found this hilarious. As an older sibling it is entirely possible to achieve a similar effect if you feel like your parents aren't doing a good job at neglecting your sibling. Simply kill them and everyone in you family exept for your gifted sibling. For greater effects it is generally advised to take on a villain role from there on out only to let them discover your true intentions after they've killed you. This will lead your sibling to be second best, but it's better then having them be the looser they would have otherwise been

I've read that the combination of a saint-like mother who believes you can do no wrong, and an emotionally distant father that you can never quite please is the classic formula to create an insanely competitive child.
Yeah makes sense, because you’d start to think that if your mum loves you but your dad still thinks you’re not good enough, then your mum must be wrong. It would basically make you unable to believe anyone’s praise and think that anyone who thinks you’re good enough is either lying or making a dumb mistake.

As a parent who's kid has separation anxiety and superhuman rage, I found this hilarious. Perhaps someday they will let go of their resentment that I gave them the love and support they needed to have a relatively normal life when what they craved was to grow up to be godking. They both have amazing amounts of potential, but without Sakura being forcibly turned into a Lesser Grail by Zouken, Rin has a clear advantage from both her magecraft element (Average One is more generally applicable versus Imaginary Elements) and a personality that's better suited for carrying on the legacy in the first place.

As an older sibling it is entirely possible to achieve a similar effect if you feel like your parents aren't doing a good job at neglecting your sibling. Simply kill them and everyone in you family exept for your gifted sibling. For greater effects it is generally advised to take on a villain role from there on out only to let them discover your true intentions after they've killed you. This will lead your sibling to be second best, but it's better then having them be the looser they would have otherwise been

Quick tips to be an anime dad:
1- Always be either scowling or looking depressed.
2- make your child hate you.
3- you can be dead if you want, you don’t matter much anyway.
4- show only for a few scenes to give your child some daddy talk and then disappear for a long time.
5- don’t be, anime dads are awful.
6- Your child doesn’t need you because he has the power of friendship or will get it.
Very important, if you leave the family to protect them or for some greater good, make sure to not explain yourself and give your child a cold, judging look just before you go, to make them feel like it's their fault.

For maximum growth, try to do these things while they are young so that it festers in their mind like a tumor. But be sure to get your affairs in order; your child *will* kill you.
