Not really. Characters like that aren't as common as many people make them out to be. Simply because that stereotype exist most people actively avoid it.
Some day someone in this industry is going to attempt to invent the concept of adult men being attracted to adult women and then be taken out back and shot for their heresy.
The worst part of the whole thing is that the concept isn't... Bad? Like, a vampire who helps a magically impaired girl by turning her into a vampire and having to hide that fact thanks to the circumstances of the world where the story happens is a decent concept! You could wring a lot of drama out of it.
Well I did recommend the manga for this series, since it is FAR better than the anime, as there is much more needed info, world building, and character development, and people were like "naAAaH n0 thxXx..."
I thought that too. This might just be my preferences, but like imagine if it was told from the girl's perspective and the vampire dude was just there in the first episode! They might actually have to invent some plot to make up for the lack of harem! It could be a story of her learing to control her new weird powers, trying to cope with her family's expectations, making friends and growing as a person. It could even be a cool mystery about why he helped her - he's an assassin and she doesn't understand. It was such a good idea and they did... this.
@@Alias_Anybody At first I honestly thought it was cool because i thought the character was mute or deaf, and i was like Oh, yeay representation, magic subtitles sounds great.... then it turned out its just some cheeky little brat who can talk but wants to be edgy.
That would have been a few magnitudes too clever for the creators of the masterpiece that is MoRBoE. How would they be able to constantly talk about how great Onee-san is?
@@ankokuraven Yeah. When she was 1st introduced I thought she was this badass, mysterious character She was hyped up as being Kufa's equal but... yeah it turned out to be shitty
My two thoughts: (1) Forcing girls with flat chests to wear uniforms with cleavage cutouts should count under "cruel and unusual punishment". (2) That scene where the main character was glowing blue with power while revealing that he was a vampire took me back to Twilight. "This is the skin of a killer!"
Kufa is absolutely one of the least professional assassins I have ever seen. Becoming romantically attached to your target in typically not what you're supposed to do as an assassin.
"Ya see Kufa Vampyr is a strictly one woman kinda half man, half monster, all samurai and also assassin all the time. And he only has eyes for his 'Little Lady'... Gross."
I never saw Fate but all these tropes do take me back to those cringy animes or animes that used some of these tropes and were kinda good and are mostly nostalgic now...aside from Fate cuz i heard its a great series...
@SoulReaper 85 he does warn her in the anime that it could kill her. But yeah any side effects (aside from her having Samurai type mana or whatever) were totally glossed over
i competely agree that this seems like a HS boy's self insert fantasy, however, the basic plot-line on paper also gives me mega sailor moon vibes. like if the show was from the girl's perspective and had an art style face-lift it could absolutely pass as a 90's shoujo. just think, youre a powerless 13 y/o and suddenly you get a hot bodyguard who gives you superpowers and promises to wait for you when you ask. im NOT saying that type of dynamic is in any way good but like... 11 year old me would be all over it lol
Yeah I get it. Hot, powerful, cool, tall older guy who is also at least a little inhuman and mysterious and very, very dangerous? Who sees little old unspecial you but thinks you’re special because of some internal previously unnoticed value? And then not only does he dedicate him and all his dangerous hotness to you, but he gives you powers so you can also be a total badass? It’s a romance and power fantasy all in one for teenager girls.
Christopher Brown I mean sorta I guess, but it’s also about power being given to the girl. Throughout Twilight, Bella has her agency stripped away. At first it’s because she’s a very weak human among bloodthirsty vampires who display a lot of creepy possessive behaviours. Becoming a vampire isn’t a power fantasy either, it’s an Edward fantasy. And once she has the strength of a vampire, she never gets to indulge in it and she’s still very passive. (Plus, Twilight as a concept is hardly terrible. It’s just really poorly written with some terrible morals) The fantasy proposed here is very much more about having a hot powerful guy devote himself to you, yes, but also having sick ass powers and overcoming problems using your new strength. It’s not too apparent in this anime because it’s very catering to a male perspective, but if it were from the perspective of the girl it would probably more closely resemble Sailor Moon and the like (a group of pretty girls with an older male love interest for the main character) rather than a harem.
I really hate this show. The main reason is that none of the characters operate under any sort of logic that makes any sense. And yet, I can't stop watching it.
When the character called her "Princess Pina" I thought "If her name is Pina Colada I'm going to shit myself and die". I owe that series 1 shitting myself and dying. I should make that promise less often.

I tried watching this a month or so ago. I got to him introducing himself as 'Kufa Vampir' and I broke. I had seen him dressed as Kirito, using a sword to fight people with guns (and winning), and basically just acting like the kind of person who knows exactly what to say to a girl to make her like him. The thing on the train where they said the same thing at the same time (if I recall correctly) seemed like a set-up for an agent and a handler meeting up with each other. Code phrases and all that. Nope. Just coincidence, and meant only to demonstrate how suave he was. And then he gets to his house which is owned by his adopted family (because it's basically a given he's an orphan, right?) and has servants and that's when we hear his name. I couldn't. I really couldn't. My eyes rolled so hard they almost fell out of my head.
@@TheDwarvenDefender I saw that show a long time ago...subbed though... for I remember liking it but it being like...a guilty pleasure, I was like 12 XD ...But I dont regret it.
I actually like the premise of the story; Powerful assassin/magic user is hired by shady noble family to train their child, and to kill her if she turns out to be a failure since it implies she's illegitimate. That has a lot of potential and is ruthlessly enjoyable. It's something I would totally buy a powerful noble family doing in an age of magic and fantasy; keeping the family's reputation secure by only producing scarily strong magic users, as well as eliminating any "impure" blood from the family line if she's not actually theirs. Hopefully some other show will tackle that idea better.
I will be honest, same here. I noticed the name but in my head I went "Nahh no way they are gonna go wtih something that silly now that they made that his name, it's just meant to be a light jab to the edge" An episode later the madmen went and just fucking did it anyway.

The premise, an assassin teaching a young girl who is also his mark who he decides to protect, sounds like it could be pretty darn good in a better show that took a more Geralt and Ciri approach to it. Or if the girl was a young woman rather than a child they could go all Phantom and Christine with it. Frustratimg I can't see that premise orchestrated in a better story now.

Commercial break at the part about the teacher/student relationship immediately gave me the Black Christmas ad where the lady's screaming "no, no, no" throughout the entire ad. Mood, lady.
What I want to see is a show that looks like a harem anime at first glance, but it’s quickly revealed that none of the girls are romantically interested in protag-kun, they’re actually into each other and have formed some kind of complex love polyhedron, but they can’t openly pursue each other for whatever reason: homophobic parents, being royalty/nobility and thus under pressure to marry a man and produce an heir, et cetera. Protag-kun is a close friend of the girls, knows their secret, and is happy to serve as their cover story, perhaps even helping or hindering their romantic pursuit of each other as the plot demands: “I can’t let Sakura confess to Ayano; that would break Rin’s heart!” As a bonus, perhaps protag-kun is also secretly gay and in a relationship with the guy who would be the annoying male friend who only exists to make the protagonist look better if this was a normal harem anime.
Sort of. The plot kind of subverts that. He wants her to essentially become the ruler of this society and change the rules, if that means that he has to die he’s willing to do it. So his goal isn’t to get romantically involved with her. He probably does notice that she has feelings for him though and is using them to keep her motivated toward that goal.
So he's technically still letting her on manipulating her well he wasn't really into her in the first place as he has another girl his "sister" not by blood that he loves i guess.

Who sees little old unspecial you but thinks you’re special because of some internal previously unnoticed value? And then not only does he dedicate him and all his dangerous hotness to you, but he gives you powers so you can also be a total badass? It’s a romance and power fantasy all in one for teenager girls.

@@xxgirl101xx So Twilight
Christopher Brown I mean sorta I guess, but it’s also about power being given to the girl. Throughout Twilight, Bella has her agency stripped away. At first it’s because she’s a very weak human among bloodthirsty vampires who display a lot of creepy possessive behaviours. Becoming a vampire isn’t a power fantasy either, it’s an Edward fantasy. And once she has the strength of a vampire, she never gets to indulge in it and she’s still very passive.
(Plus, Twilight as a concept is hardly terrible. It’s just really poorly written with some terrible morals)
The fantasy proposed here is very much more about having a hot powerful guy devote himself to you, yes, but also having sick ass powers and overcoming problems using your new strength. It’s not too apparent in this anime because it’s very catering to a male perspective, but if it were from the perspective of the girl it would probably more closely resemble Sailor Moon and the like (a group of pretty girls with an older male love interest for the main character) rather than a harem.

Powerful assassin/magic user is hired by shady noble family to train their child, and to kill her if she turns out to be a failure since it implies she's illegitimate.

"this show has the pacing of a hummingbird heart on meth" made me lose it
Twilight, 50 shades: I have the higher ground
Assassin’s Pride: You underestimate my power
Difference is Twilight is for tween girls, 50 Shades is for House Wives. Assassin's Pride is for Middle School Edge Lords. Funny enough it's audience is bigger XD
Maybe it has such broad appeal it breaks demographics? :)
Fifty Shades of Grey was originally at twilight fanfiction that got published
I could believe this was a fanfic of something else
While I was watching this, my sister peeked over my shoulder and asked me "oh, you like Assassin's Pride too?"
When I told her I thought this anime was hilariously awful she got all defensive and told me the main protagonists in these type of anime are her type.
Unlike her my standards are a lot higher. For instance, my type is those with emotion and an actual personality.
Edit: Also adults.
Be cautious, if she comes home and you hear something resembling a "m'lady" by the door, you better RUN THE FUCK AWAY!!
@@henriquemesquita5692 then they'll be in your house, so call the cops instead
@@awesomegaymer5786 Don't forget the Helsing organisation, Alucard needs to come over and show her what a real F*cking vampire looks like!
You're just not smart enough to watch this show lol XD
Lemme guess... as soon as you said that, the rest of your family clapped?
It really is a pretty damn cool world though. The aesthetic is amazing, if only theyd actually explore it! I want lore!
This is garth marenghi personified as an anime "I know authors who use subtext, and they're all cowards"
Divorced from reality? More like annulled from reality.
I used to legitimately think assassin’s pride was knockoff sao
jwangton but nope it’s something way worser 😂
I’m more surprised he didn’t say that... I mean fuck the main characters both have the same color palette
The phrase “secret childhood friend who has forgotten him because: magic amnesia” DID make me exhale rapidly from my nose, and has cemented this series in my post-final anime hatewatch list.
Before I seen this video I thought this was going to be an anime with a "new" cool story
But I didn't know it was going to be a sword art online remake
SAO makes a little more sense and has more of his love interests being his own age.
Other than that, yeah.
SAO is better than this....i managed to watch SAO fully. i couldn't go past episode 2 of this crap
"Malida Angel" That's almost bad enough to be the name of a Gundam character.
Needs a sex reference in there to complete the deal. Maybe Bajeena
Alotta Fagina
I think it's supposed to be Melita, because that would mean he literally named her "sweet angel" and that's the kind of super subtle name this guy picks
@The Blue Wayfarer that one IS REAL?!
Tetha Gemelas
Commercial break at the part about the teacher/student relationship immediately gave me the Black Christmas ad where the lady's screaming "no, no, no" throughout the entire ad.
Mood, lady.
Can we have one of these shows were the guy is genuinely hated by the females l
Oresuki sorta
School days
@@ajbaisley99 lmfao you caught me off guard
He's totally grooming her.
Onision... excuse me, I meant Onii-san
@@xxJing thermian argument
And that's a good thing.
So he's technically still letting her on manipulating her well he wasn't really into her in the first place as he has another girl his "sister" not by blood that he loves i guess.
"...because what kind of show did you think this was?" lolol killed me
Watched this roast... twice. Had to come down here and thumbs this up, cause I am also die.
The way Geoff says it is so great
The title describes my feeling for the show so accurately it’s insane
3:26 look how skinny her arms are. Did the artists look at this and think this is ok even in an anime art style?
Nooooodles
CAN'T UNSEE
I feel like every anime could be improved by having the age of every underage girl above their head. To mock all these degenerates to shame.
What about the "she is actually 5000 years old" crowd? Wouldn't that validate them?
@@gokbay3057 You know how google and facebook etc are all trying to get facial recognition software to estimate all sorts of shit based on looks ? Like age, mood, sex, etc.
Let's just display all the character's age as estimated by an AI. That way, no matter what their cannonical age is, they still will have a "13yo" hovering above their heads.
@@readyforlol Except then a bunch of "13" year olds will be shown as much older. Since so many of them are drawn as older.
That would only make me harder.

Nah nah nah no way not happening.
When I heard that in the show I just stopped watching. Forever.

I physically cringe every time I rewatch this roast. My entire body reacts even after hearing it now like 3 or 4 times
Worst part is, that scene is used as an ad on crunchyroll
@@kreatona4219 YES. Holy shit. It's literally the only ad they run. That line is BURNED into my mind.

Kufa - adult version of Kirito but 17 years old
Melida - loli version of Asuna
Elise - Oragami Tobiichi's lost sister
Okay but like, this OP is literally the best
Yeah, and the song just slaps.
I bet the characters slap each other too...*looks to the side*
My words
DID YOU FORGET ABOUT JOJO! THIS IS BLASHEOMY
Kimetsu no Yaiba begs to differ
why do they look like the sword art online protagonist that’s annoying lol
was about to say the same
Probably to attract people who also watch SAO unironically
This is what kirito is doing in his mind in the new season
Because every LN has to be as much like SAO as possible.
Because...they are a trope...because people can find solace in 2.0 Nosferatu Kirito and 2.0 Palladin Wannabee Asuna.
Finally a show I can watch and say "Its a better Love story than Twili-" I mean "Better harem story than SAO".
The "Milady" thing really seems to me like a Shoujo trope, I've spend the last few weeks cramming a lot of 90s Shoujo, it really increases one's understanding of Utena. I think a genuine attempt to appeal to both audiences is at play here. Angel really does have more of the typical LN protag origin story also.
The female lead and "dangerous edglord that only **I** can tame" thing is pure shoujo.
@@nlb137 Indeed, G0ff could have just as easily made this video about Assassin's Pride being the Twilight of Anime, but instead he's obsessed with seeing everything through the lens of SAO.
I mean. Is both. For me the first chapter was like "so this is how shojo powe fantasy looks like" but then all the focus on him feel like a shonen power fantasy. That is just 1 chapter. I love myself enought to no see more of this
@@leonardobianucci6218 There's no shortage of Shoujo that gives a significant about of POV time to make protagonists. Clamp sure did it a lot.
I felt like turning myself in to the authorities after playing Nekopara...but man, that feeling is even stronger after watching this show.
