The strap is to mount the camera to a pole or tree. Bottom of camera mount has two slots, run strap thru and then attach to whatever ,pole or tree. Thanks for the review.

So once I link up my reolinkAngus Eco camera with solar powered with a card does it also pick up sound?
The strap is for strapping the camera around a post or similar. What I don't understand is you make a review, but haven't read the manual well before.
The strap is to allow you to fix the camera to a tree or post or gutter fall pipe. You use the aluminium plate off the bottom of the fixing bracket of the camera.

it this is not a very good strap so instead of screw it in it's not worth using a strap of already tried it
Strap is for attaching to pole or small tree. There is a device included which the strap fits in to.

How does the video get stored if you need to access it? Does it record constantly or can you choose to only record when motion detected?
At 16:31 the details on the resolution say 640x360 which is 230,400 pixels, which is less than the 2 million pixels that defines 1080P, so it is not a 1080P but a 360P camera.

How long would the battery last without the solar panel?
Hard to say really. Mine came with about 42% charge, goes down pretty fast, With 100% charge probably a few weeks, all depends how often motion sets off the sensor and how often you check the live stream. May even last months

Your software interface does not match my iPhone but my main question is there a setup function that can define the area that is primary. If I wanted to block the unit from looking at the street, can I do that.

I bought one from Amazon which arrived yesterday.Reolink says up to 50 feet,but that is a 100% fraudulent claim.Ive tried high and low sensitivity.The absolute maximum detection is 10 feet.And the longer you go without rebooting the app,the longer the delays of detection vs alerts.Good for watching your porch,but useless in watching your vehicle in the driveway.10ft is the max even if sensitivity is on highest or lowest.

No the device has to have a connect to WiFi to access the footage.
You never did a follow up video, is this camera still working?
Can the camera work when the camera is not connected with the wifi ( modem ) ? And can you connect with the wifi of the camera to see live the video ? And playback when er is a sd card in the camera ?

Try turning off 5Ghz wifi then try adding if it works turn 5Ghz wifi back on

I want to put this in my garage, but there's no wifi connection there. Does this camera work without wifi? I don't need to get notifications or constantly monitor it. I just want to have it up for a few weeks and check the film via the SD card. Trying to catch a thief!

You should check the Reolink Go model. Instead of wifi connection, it uses the 4g technology an unlimit you options.

What's is problem
I have been trying to set up my Reolink argus eco cameras as per your instructions. I can only get to the first two steps. When I scan the bar code instead of the next screen you show I get one where one option is " Wifi not configurated " and the other " Wifi already configurated". I have tried clicking on both options without success. Please advise.
It could be if your WiFi is dual band, that could potentially cause an issue. From what I remember it only works on 2.4GHz WiFi.

@@davidbalazik5074 Contact their support see if they can advise. One thing to be aware of is that most routers have dual and wifi 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz. The bulk of cameras on the market connect to 2.4Ghz and sometimes they struggle to when dual band is enabled if you disable 5Ghz it could help resolve the issue. Just a suggestion.

Hi, how do you access to the content on the memory card?
With your phone, or you need to remove the card and read in a more "old fashion" way, like on a computer. If I have read this right, the camera record in a loop, and when the memory is full, automatically replace the oldest video with new one.

I’m a big fan of your channel.
I have a topic you can try that no one had done on RUclips.
Here in Europe it is quite common for thieves to avoid detection in alarms (for wireless application’s) by using frequency jammers . I was wondering how this applies to the security camera world. My hypothesis is that wifi based systems would succumb to the interference and non record anything to the cloud or base station (as in the case of the Eufycam) leaving only the reolink Eco or argus to record to se this crating a safer system even though there is the risk of it being stolen.
Would you be able to do a video to see which systems could better protect under this type of cyber attack.

Hi John, thanks for the comment and support it's people like you that keep this channel going and keep me motivated to make videos. There is an easy way to test this out turn off your wifi and this would be the equivalent or the wifi being jammed so the camera has no signal and then you can test if it records anything. I'll add this test to any standalone camera reviews I do but just to note if you have a wifi CCTV system then you are screwed if a jammer if used the record won't be able to pick up any footage. Hope that helps.

They give you a strap so you can tie the camera instead of screwing the camera in
I have this camera, and I have installed it... and I wish now that I hadn't. Why you ask.. well there's no way to upload the feeds/video to a cloud or even setup a FTP... which makes it easy for anyone to walk up or get a ladder and steal the thing, it's basically a RING door bell... yes you will get a notification that motion has been detected, just like 5+ times that and every other day... which over time you will ignore..
BUT, ignore the theft and no upload option, I installed my cam in Jan, I started to charge it while I was working out to install it and the Solar, it was 70% charge with lots of footage of me installing it, and configuring it on my phone and PC, it was 20% the next day, but I've never had to actually charge it, the solar is great even in Jan going on Feb and with storms (Yes my DIY skills are good the solar didn't fall down)
So I would love to setup a Raspberry Pi to connect to the Camera every time a motion is detected and upload to a cloud storage so that I have all the footage needed, if anyone out there knows how to do this then please let me know.

I understand it uses a microSD card but what size would you suggest to allow a month average recording data before rewriting over old data. I would have thought they would have given a suggested size for approximate recording in 1080P.
