I was thinking the same thing about the communication his voice sounds like a young man it's crazy a lot of people when they get into their 80s even they stay on like they have a shaky voice but but but but His voice sounds clear and strong at 100 years old What a blessing

That's what I was thinking too. So lucky to still be able to remember so much at 100. I know I will be lucky to get to 55. But greatful I have been alive this long. Greatful your garden looks beautiful. It was so nice watching you both in the garden planting like mad before the beautiful sunset..XOXOXOXO

Edited to clarify: Folks, we are talking about the Piper Comanche. NOT the military helicopter. I was never a military pilot, though my late father was a USAF combat pilot in the 1950-60s. Anyway, thanks for the well-deserved show of appreciation for our veterans!

My brother-in-law, an American, celebrates his 95th birthday this
coming Monday, 31 October. They reside in California. They have been out to visit South Africa a couple of times but I've never had the privilege of visiting your shores due to bad health, especially lately (& am not yet 74).
He makes me smile. Reminds me of my granddaddy. Loved him. Won’t find a generation like that again.
Just think of all of the things he has seen in his lifetime. I'm 68 and sometimes it astounds me to think of the changes I have seen in my lifetime. I was 12 years old when my family moved into a house with indoor plumbing. Just imagine all he has seen.

What a blessing to have your Grandaddy alive and so clear, you will be so thankful you recorded his stories. My Mom passed away from dementia and one thing I recorded was her playing the piano when she was getting worse and we treasure those to this day after loosing her 7yrs ago

I always have enjoyed listening to the older generation tell stories of their life’s adventures! That being said, I’ve lost all of the story tellers in my life and I sure miss them. I loved hearing your grandpa tell his stories. He sure has a sharp mind for 100 years old! Have you ever thought about chronicling his life through stories for future generations? Y’all should show more of grandpa!

Sharon I just now saw your comment about someone writing his adventures and so forth I I had just finished writing in the comments section about this exact same thing because I took care of a man who was 101 years old when he died he was still in his own home in my mobile home park and I took care of him I lived across the street from here so we had lots of time to talk about his life and I experienced some things with him that were fun and interesting and we started to write up things about his life but we never got it finished and I wish that I would have thought of it much sooner because it never got done unfortunately he was a character a steam locomotive operator he was in New York at the time and he was a Dairy Farmer and his mother and dad had a store and they lived upstairs and they sold the cheese that was made from their dairy cows he talked about separating the way from the milk I forget the process but anyhow it all was so interesting oh I so regret not writing it all down as we talked about things I want to have a book made some sort of a remembrance of his life!

Yes isn’t it incredible when they are alive we never think about capturing their stories of their lives on the farm before they came to the city and started a family and how they got to be where they ended up and certainly isn’t always the way they intended it to go but somehow through a lot of hardwork and perseverance they make it happen. I think a lot of us could learn about life if we would listen to our elders and pay them much more respect then we tend to give them. It would be nice to have more time in our days that we could do just that. Unfortunately a lot of us are just living one day into the next trying to grow our own family and wondering how we are going to stretch the hard earned dollars to get to the next month and provide everything the children need and then in the blink of an eye they have finished university and have started setting up a family of their own and we turn into grandparents ourselves and get to enjoy the babies and how absolutely precious it is to become a grandparent you have none of the pressures or worries you have as a parent and it’s just pure joyful bliss! We’ve been blessed with our first grand baby and I couldn’t be happier I just wish life could revert back to the old days where generations of family lived either under the same roof or close by. Who knows maybe one day we will go back to that just because of necessity and survival. It may be the silver lining that we could never predict. 🥰❤️🇨🇦By the way get busy on that book and if you ever publish it let me know id love to read it!!

Happy birthday to your grandfather. My husbands grandmother lived until 108 years and until the last few weeks of her life never saw a doctor since the 1960's . They were certainly made from strong stuff back then.
What a wonderful life he has experienced and the fact that he can coherently converse with you about his experiences is really remarkable. What a blessing to still have him in your lives❤️

Happy 100 Birthday Granddaddy!! What an amazing accomplishment! My Aunt turned 98 in Aug and she still lives alone in her own apartment. I am so glad I we have had time to talk to her about our family history and living through the Depression & WWII.
Almost daily I think about something that I would like to ask my parents who have passed. I still have one aunt left so I better go see her. ❤️

You all will treasure the video of Grandaddy's stories more than you will ever know! I watch the VHS tapes of family reunions and story telling session with all my aunts, uncles, cousins, parents, and grandparents often. Even when they are gone, you have their voice and physical presence with you.
