Yours is the FIRST video I’ve seen that actually showed me where the ports are located. THANK YOU!
Did yours have them? News is reporting newly delivered Y’s are no longer including USB ports due to the chip shortage…
100% agreed
Yes. Thank you
what is the use of these C ports? use just for charging?
Thank you! Just got my Model Y yesterday. This video is super helpful!❤
After a year of not finding these ports I gave up and found this video instead. You def. earned like/sub
Just got a Model Y on June 5th.
TY for your informative video, it was perfect for learning the USB ports.
Glad it helped
@@ThumbsUpStuff would it be the same 4 USB-c ports & 2 USB-a ports for the newly updated 7 seater model y??
Thanks, picking up my '23 Model Y tomorrow!
Ty so much I was only able to find the 2 in the back vents but couldn’t see the ones in the center console
Wow thank you so much!
Thank you very much!
LOL I’ve been looking in the FRONT of the center console for a week now‼️ Thank you 🙏🏻
Trust me, I know! It took me 2 months to realize that you can move the air conditioner vents! lol
@@ThumbsUpStuff loll
Thank you so much!
Thank You So Much!
Thank you!
Thank you!!
Thanks a million! 😎
Thank bro 😊
Thanks
Had my my model y for 3 month and never could find the front one. 🥂 cheers
Thank u sir
that sucks! thanks for the information!
First, thanks for the video.
I live in the Tampa area too and I am looking at purchasing a Model Y.
I intend to purchase a Model Y Long Range due to purchasing a towing package for towing my 2000 lb. boat. From what I have looked at the range drops to about 1/3 when towing. This should give me the range I need for local round trip fishing trips without the need for using a supercharger. At the $0.12 per KWH Teco rate I should???? be able to make a full charge on the Model Y long range and get approximately 275 miles of driving.
FREE TIP
Don't know if you have and audio CD's that you enjoy listening to around the house, but you can convert the audio files to MP3 and copy them to a USB stick and listen to them on your new Tesla Model Y.
I tried this yesterday at one of the local Tesla dealerships as I was not able to get a comprehensive overview of how the USB feature worked.
I had 2 USB sticks along with me. One had all the MP3 music files on the main directory. I also had another larger USB large capacity mini stick with a bunch of folders on it that contained a variety of music. Using the controls on the music/USB selection in your audio section of your Tesla I was able to look at and select any of the folders and select any of the MP3 files within those folders for listening. There is also a selection icon at the top of the menu near the right side that will allow you to random play the songs. You can also play the songs as recorded on the USB stick or replay any song you select by pressing the appropriate icon on the top menu in the USB main screen. You can also play any MP3 songs that are on the main root directory. Furthermore, you can make selections on the left side of the screen to see listings of albums, artists, etc.
If you need any further information just let me know and I will try to give you a helping hand.
John
Hi John, thanks for the tips!
Any Model Y has a 3500LB towing capacity. So, you'll be fine. Yes, the question is how much will your range drop. But unless your boat is a monster, and you're already close to the water (Tampa Bay) you probably shouldn't see that big of a drop in mileage. I am going to do a trailer video soon and get my Kayak to the water. Thanks!
@@ThumbsUpStuff What type of kayak do you have? I own a 2018 Hobie Pro Angler 14. I presently carry it in my Honda Odyssey van. I have the rear seats folded down and the middle seats removed. I can load it the van without a trailer.
If you would like to use my boat to demo the trailer towing capabilities of the Tesla I would welcome the opportunity as I currently have no way to test the actual range on a Model Y towing my boat. I would be glad to pay for the Tesla Charging associated with the trip. Even take you for a boat ride and a little fishing if you are up to it.
Here is a link to the video on the removable tail light bracket that I attached to Hobie during transport.

If you look at the videos section of my youtube channel you will find more videos on the hobie including an electric trolling motor enhancement.
great video! but also if you have the 7 seater (which is really 5 adult seats and 2 child seats) then you have 2 more in the back row as well!
Good to know!
We just got the 7 seater model y and there is none usb c at back row
That child seat, looks very spacious, could u share info on brand?
Does anyone know the specifications of the ports? Amps ? power only or power and data?
Those two ports are power-only. The ones inside the console are data and power.
Thank You lol these are really hidden
I have a Q for you. Got my '21 Y 2 weeks ago and I'm trying to use the USB-C port(s) in the console for music. I've tried a USB(A) thumb drive with a USBC adapter, and a multi-port USBA/USBC thumb drive, and both of them show the music on the screen, but when I go to play any/every song, it says 'Loading Error'. Any ideas?
If you get loading error while using the drive on both a USB-C and USB-A port, then I would think that the problem is with the drive and not with the car. You have to ascertain whether the problem is the car or the drive (most likely the drive), and most likely the way that you encoded the music.
@@ThumbsUpStuff Hope you're right - Thanks! The USB-A works on other cars, but when I plug it into the (USB-C) Adapter, it doesn't work in my Y. I'll figure it out eventually.
@@MH-so9oz I think I remember reading that the back seat ports only work to charge things, not to connect to the media console - and for some reason I think it said that was true of cars after Nov 2021
I buy same USB-C hub you mention in link, and I did exactly the way you mention but it did not play or do anything. How do we play through the media player? what to do to get media player? is media player is Tesla?where to get media player to plat music? Please guide me.
OK so I just found that I had the same issue today. I went out to my car and the USB icon was missing from the display. I fixed the issue by doing a soft reset ----> I held down the two left and right buttons on the steering wheel for like 30 seconds until the screen went black. When the computer reset, the USB icon was once again visible, and I was able to open the app and play the MP3 files from the USB-C hub. I hope this helps.
@@ThumbsUpStuff There is no such feature in Tesla. After I try every thing you have been mentioning, I talk to Tesla and they told me there is no such feature that USB-C Icon will appear and you can play music from USB-C. Unlike Honda CRV Hybrid, where it is useable and friendly software, very visible and contain many features that are in Tesla.
Just picked MY 2022 yesterday. The paperwork that comes with the Y says it has 6 USB ports. I can’t find number 6?.
If you remove the cellphone charging pads, I thikn there are 2 behind there. But why would enyone want to remove the cellphone charger?
what do i buy to plug into my glove box to do recordings?
A high speed USB memory stick.
How do we use usb C, How we get date on the screen, can I listen mpe music when recorded on usb C and use the port to listen to music?????
You need to buy a USB-C hub. And then you can connect USB sticks or SD cards with MP3's into the hub and they will play through the media player.
@@ThumbsUpStuff what is USB-C hub? is it the place where I will insert usb-c? There is already 4 places in Tesla where USB C can be inserted. But it did not show on screen. Honda CRV has a simple beautiful insert where when USB inserted, and go to screen and click on USB, and it started playing mp3 music. But nothing on tesla shows anywhere. I am not sure how do we get it work with media player. Can you please make a u tube video and show us how it works. I am disappointed with Tesla that is double the price of Honda CRV hybrid but do not have this feature.
@@maroofqurashi7622 This is a USB-C hub amzn.to/4chEvUX
@@ThumbsUpStuff Thanks, I will try.

There's also a usb 1.0/2.0 (Type A) port underneath the wireless charger. SO there's actually 2.
How do you get access to it?
Yes, thank you. But who wants to remove their wireless charger to use a USB port? That's kind of like saying, "there's a USB port behind the headlights, so if you remove a headlight, you'll have an extra USB port." :) there's probably lots of USB ports if you start removing parts!
@@ThumbsUpStuff I am not sure about all, but for me the wireless charger is attached to a usb 3.1 (type c) port and the usb 3.0/2.0 to the right of the usb c po (type a) to the right of the usb c port attached to the wireless charger is left empty. Again I am not sure about all but I have a standard 2020 tesla model y.
@@HeyoChris Via centre console or you can flip up the wireless charger, flipping up the wireless charger doesnt go all the way up and is restricted to half.
@@ThumbsUpStuff Also for reference 1:13 of the following video: ruclips.net/video/X1UNC1LvDfQ/видео.html
Why don’t mine work???
Where are usb in 2020 model y? Because there’s nothing in my glovebox.
There is no media player in Tesla car as oppose to Honda
There is a little icon that looks like a USB drive. You click on that one. That app will play the content in your USB or SD drive.
@@ThumbsUpStuff Tesla told me there is no such feature except USB A in glove compartment and that is for event recording not for music from USB C in Tesla, please read my other comment. Thanks.
The ones in the back is not working!
The ones in the back are only for power, they will not communicate with the car's computer.
