People don't understand, vocalists can have off days, off weeks and months, doesn't mean they can't sing. It shows they are human despite of their incredible talent.
Well this was more of an audio issue vs vocal fatigue imo. Or she paused because she thought she was faster/slower than the instrumental. We see why it didn't make the cut.

It's said she did preform this and never liked how it turned out. Which is why we never got to view it on any tapes or re-issued videos of the show. Same with "I Don't Wanna Cry", which it's also said she preformed.
There were issues with the performance. Here and there her timing was wrong and she had microphone problems. Mariah won't release anything less than perfect

Ummm it was literally her debut she had done hardly anything so no not tired. The band messed up about 4 times here and I hear some other sound issues. She did her best to figure out why bars were skipped completely and still do well. A d it was still pretty good. She's a queen!!

I would say the audio technicians made mistakes on this number. Mariah is so good that she recovered from their starting the song too early.

Tbh a lot of her 1990/91 performances she sounded nervous. They are hard songs to replicate live. There are good vocals here though.
