Aaron M Yeah, she sounds like almost like she did on her first album. It felt like they compressed her voice a lot in this one so as to not overpower the instruments.
@King Mark it's mariah. since she made the demo for Brenda, she emulated her voice well. You can tell it's her by the style and the slight rasp. Her articulation is very distinct as well. Brenda does not articulate her words like this.
unfortunately we didn’t get any original tracks from the debut on the rarities but we did get “here we go around again” which I adore! I just love the debut era’s vocals, they’re husky and deep but smooth and powerful.
So is Mariah the original singer or the other version when did she record this I heard it years ago and didn’t know if it was her now I hear it especially towards the end her voice was more light I think

I'm a true fan of MC, since 1997. I have all of her albums and I know her voice very well. This is definitely her. Many songs in her first album are sung in this way. Only people who knows nothing about her career and her music or are just haters could disagree.

this demo is old news, by the way, for those trying to dispute it. It's her. She didn't come out of the womb singin' Vision of Love, she had to start somewhere.
@PreciousMariah22 Her prime is definitely 93-96, but I do agree that only true Mariah fans can tell that this is her. Anyone who owns her first album know how she sounded in her teenage years and can trace the similiarities of her voice all throughout her career (deterioriation and all.) There are little thing she does with her voice today that still sound identical to 1990. Anyway I think we can all rest assure that it only matters that the True Lambs enjoy this and ignore the nay-sayers.
It's shocking that she could sing like this at only 17 years old! She really is a prodigy.
Aaron M Yeah, she sounds like almost like she did on her first album. It felt like they compressed her voice a lot in this one so as to not overpower the instruments.
+Aaron M she was 16
+Aaron M Mariah could control and do whistle tones at the age of 9 or something. This proves so much more.
Shottoru 11, not 9.
@King Mark it's mariah. since she made the demo for Brenda, she emulated her voice well. You can tell it's her by the style and the slight rasp. Her articulation is very distinct as well. Brenda does not articulate her words like this.
This may be the youngest that we will ever hear Mariah Carey sing!
Someday demo tape 1986.
She was a powerhouse from a young age...

Melissa Cornwall lmao reconstructive ear surgery asap. but ur not lying abt that love queen forever a lamb
It’s Mariah singing back up
Totally agree dahling
@@jordanelizabeth7401 it's Mariah the whole song
It kind of reminds me of "Prisoner" another song of hers recorded on her Debut album
Eddie Candido I honestly don’t think so. Not even close.
the sound at ''prisoner of your life'' and ''weakness of the body'' part is similar, you are right
Guess the two songs’ beat is kind of similar, I mean like the classic 80’s dance music
I could see that. She even has super instrumental break down and voice over moment in both. They both have that late 80’s early 90 nostalgia too
The same synths and box machines.
This is for sure Mariah. They way she sings is very... I can't explain it... Mariah? LOL!
This couldn’t be any other girl
This is definitely Mariah Carey. Just listen carefully to the demo.
She would have made a great Freestyle singer in the 80's.
What are freestyle singers
e vil listen to the cover girls show me lil Suzy take me in your arms Safire let me be the one Debbie deb lookout weekend freestyle music
I just said the same! imagine a freestyle Mariah álbum!!!! 😩😩😩
I definitely agree, had she came out in the 80s she would have definitely did Freestyle music. Songs like Someday and Prisoner proves that.
You have to listen carefully. When you do, you will realize it is Mariah. Mariah’s voice chances each year, lol.
this mariah carey for god sakes people she 16 YEARS OLD!!!!!!!!!
no wonder, tomy mottola was amazed by her voice at the first time he heard the demo on his limo.
oh ok
I like how you know that 😂
Tomislav Trtica everybody knows that story
With the higher key, it is less obvious than it is Mariah, but here this is clear.
Definitely Mariah. She sounds like she's singing "Someday"
And that's why this song was never released. It was turned into Someday.
This CLEARLY became Prisoner. It has the same urgency, the music is crazy similar and it even has a rap.
Ivan Lampayasen it’s different
James Astles maybe Prisoner was inspired by this demo
Ya It's obviously closer to Someday than Prisoner. The other Trentwood got it right LOL
I love how corny this is, but damn it's so catchy.
Looool my comment flew right over your head. She herself said something similar in regards to it not being her type of music and 'cringeworthy' but ok 😒😒😒

Such a missed opportunity with this amazing song.Had it been released it would of more and likely been a hit. And that voice, wow.

This was demo for other other artist to listen to. It was later recorded and released by another artist, it wasn't written by her or part of her original demo tape give to Tommy Mattola.
Rashaad Perry actually Brenda K Star passed on it, another artist recorded it, I can't remember her name.
@Mike Fernandez Judy Torres. Her name was Judy Torres.
Mike Fernandez JLO
Judy Torres the queen of freestyle
No this was recorded in 1986 and she was 16 look it up
Her voice sounds so amazing in this song.So powerful and fierce. This song could have easy shot to number one on Billboard.
+Double_J_Awesomeness idk it seems to be mixed but id say this was more 1988/87 since thats when Brenda was on top and thats when Mariah got noticed.

"Weakness Of The Body"
I know I hurt you so
The night you heard
My true confession, boy

I spent the night
Of guilty passion, so
I called to say
There'll never be another
To take your place, no
Now I pray
That you'll put an end to

I have the strength of heart
But a weakness of the body
It tore our love apart
Now I'm feeling
Sad and lonely
I have the strength of heart
But a weakness of the body
How can I make it right
I gotta have you
Here with me tonight
(Weakness of the body)
It didn't mean a thing
I guess I needed
To prove my love was true
I had to feel the sting, mm
Of a night in another's arms
Away from you, whoa
Now I'm lying
Staring at the ceiling
Counting my pain, oh
Now I'm crying
I've turned
Our days of sunshine
Into these days
And nights of rain
I have the strength of heart
But a weakness of the body
It tore our love apart
Now I'm feeling
Sad and lonely

But a weakness of the body
How can I make it right

Here with me tonight

Gotta have your love
No, no, no

[Spoken:]
Every morning I wake up
And remember you're gone
I look in the mirror
And ask myself
Why did I do so wrong?
Now I feel the love
That burns
So hot inside me
Just trust me
One more time
And I promise
To make you happy
I called to say
There'll never be another
To take your place, oh
Now I pray
That you'll put an end to

If someone is not sure if Mariah is the real singer, just listen to the spoken verses. It's Mariah's voice, no doubt!
Damn! thats good
she sounds like selena in this, ugh queen 😫🙌🏽
This was originally from Brenda K Starr & Mariah Carey in 1985, Mariah was Brenda’s background vocalist in early-mid 80s. Great song 👍🏻
this demo is old news, by the way, for those trying to dispute it. It's her. She didn't come out of the womb singin' Vision of Love, she had to start somewhere.
I LOVE THIS PICTURE OF HER AND HER OTHER PICTURES WITH THIS TYPE OF STYLE AND TOUCH.. WE LOVE YOU MARIAH CAREY.. :).
omg...it really is her, its amazing, a change of key and we're suddenly all so sure, great job mate!! Great song mariaah!
This is so good 🙌🏻💓
