I have already made several hybrid guitars between Gibson and Fender. I know how difficult it is to create a coherent and unique instrument. I must say that this guitar is particularly well done. A real inspiring and versatile musical instrument. The kind that you don't want to put down and that can replace all the others...
Have a goal and stick to it, try new things and don’t get hung up on the specks. Classic meets modern to me means it looks like 69 camero but acts like a lotus evija! Ok I’ll just take the lotus
Thanks man! Yeah design is so subjective, it's pointless to argue about it. 😄 I really like the headstock, to me it works really well with the body size and shape. But I get it, it's not a "safe look" that will appeal to everyone. Cheers man!
I owe one of those, and I absolutely love it. The look, the feel, and the sounds ... just if it was made especially for me. Just fits like a glove. I am a little bit sorry for my beloved Tele ... she's somehow jealous now that my backwing has become my number one ... nice review btw.
I do believe that is one of the nicest sounding guitars I’ve heard in a long time Personally love the shape but dislike the step along the body But the tones are just everywhere !!👍👍 Ps that’s a massive amount of guitar for £1400 !!(GBP)
Well said mate! It's a lot of guitar for the money. And what an inspiring one too. The main melody of the intro track is literally the first thing I played when I unboxed the guitar. I liked it so much that I knew I have the intro jam sorted out already, haha! Cheers!
I agree regarding the faux neck-through body step. I was surprised when he flipped the guitar and I saw a bolt-on neck. I asked myself 'why feature a step if it's not a neck-through?'. That said, the guitar sounds wonderful.
Love the vibe and surprising warmth in those mini humbuckers. Amazing jamming as always, Kris. I ordered the same model in the "Ocean Mist" color and the Bigsby wobble stick. Can't wait to hear it and experience the playability live.
Thanks! Well it’s clearly inpired by the firebird but man is it far from that design. Except for the body shape (roughly) and the 4 knobs everything is different on this baby. And I‘m really liking it.
I believe when the time comes...I will get a Baum for my dream purchase. Sometime between now and when Haleys comet returns. Maybe my 110th birthday? Maybe sooner. Thanks for the video.
I made so far 180 turn in my guitar taste (so far). So from all the super carved and shaped awesome ergonomic guitars back to traditional "pieces of furniture" like Les Pauls, 335s, Teles. Even to that degree, that I find Stratocaster to be too "shaped". I dont know, like Les Paul or Tele sits exactly where I need them to, I feel where the guitar is and how to orientate around. Even with Strat, I have that feeling like "Where is my guitar? I play thin air" :D So far, visualy, brands that are original and yet take my attention are Duesenberg and Novo (Rivolta, for that matter). Sadly I had not the opportunity to try them out, but they looks super cool, both classy, classic and also fresh to try out. So yes, it is very difficult to create new guitar, that takes attention from the traditionalist. This Baum, has certain vibe, some of the models are looking cool.
Yep! All our guitars, including VEGA, come to Denmark for QC and set-up, so we know that they rock right out of the box. Kris is absolutely on point about how important a good set-up is :-).
I preordered a Baum Wingman. It will ship in April and I’m very excited. But I 99% will change the pickups for some custom Sunbear Pickups with Sunbird in the neck and PAF in the bridge 👍🏼
Looking forward to get it in your hands, Thomas! And please let me know how your mod will go. Sunbear makes epic stuff and that sounds like a unique pickup combination! Cheers.
@@Loudmouth69 I definitely will do that but these are single coils wich I like. But I realized a couple year ago that I really love the Humbucker / Singlecoil ish combination. Still haven’t found the holy grail for me but I love the sound of my mini humbuckers in the neck from my harmony silhouette so I’ll try the sunbird in the neck cause these have a bit less compression then a mini humbucker so I’m excited to try that out. Funny that after I wrote Stuart from Sunbear, he said that this is one of his absolutely favorite pair of pickups 😁

It's tough to be original, yet feel classic. They definitely pull it off. Great playing, as always!
Thanks for an awesome introduction to the Backwing, Kris. Need to learn a few licks from that intro jam ;) Cheers from Denmark!
Rock on guys! 💪 Sure thing, let’s talk licks, riffs and guitars any time. 🤗
I think I found a good thunderbird alternative😍
*firebird I mean😅
Nice guitar, clunky headstock design.

That is one AWESOME guitar!
I absolutely would buy one - if I was not to renovate my house....but if they're still around when I'm done....
Oh man I cant wait for mine!! Ill be getting it in November! :)

Thanks, Jens! Sorry for your tele haha, but it's nice to hear that the Backwing is in good hands with you!
That is a sweet instrument. I love the look, the tones, everything.
Same here, thanks man!
The Vega Series do not have QC and Setup in Denmark?
I do believe that is one of the nicest sounding guitars I’ve heard in a long time

Do you constantly hit your hand on the bottom wing when playing high up?

@@tito.tarantula thanks so much man! Enjoy this beast!
Tasty intro! The guitar looks great, the playing was awesome.
that ending on a major 9th chord 🔥
Classy, isn't it? 🤣 Nice job spotting it mate! 👏
@@KrisBarocsi 100%. the 1st inversion maj9 is my fav chord!
Shut up and take my money!😉
Baum understands the importance of lines, much like Freddie Tavares (father of Fenders, he refined Leo's designs), that makes them very cool.
Thanks, Christian. Gotta admit... We're obsessed with lines. ;-)
Mega tone from this Firebird clone.
Thanks! Well it’s clearly inpired by the firebird but man is it far from that design. Except for the body shape (roughly) and the 4 knobs everything is different on this baby. And I‘m really liking it.
After watching this video like 5 times, and many other Backwing videos, this last year I finally ordered a Backwing today. Super excited!
@@magnuslervikmusic That’s awesome, congrats on the Backwing purchase! Enjoy that beast!
Mine is arriving today!! Been 3 months and well worth the wait. I cant wait to play it! ROCK N ROLL
Looks and sounds great. I dig it, Kris.
i give it a 10 out of 10
Yep, 🎸💜🤘
Hardest thing is to think of something new and not to mess with copyright.
It’s a balancing act indeed. 😆 This one is dope. 🙌
As a Les Paul Deluxe player, I love anything w/ mini humbuckers! These look great guitars, might have to check 'em out
I believe when the time comes...I will get a Baum for my dream purchase. Sometime between now and when Haleys comet returns. Maybe my 110th birthday? Maybe sooner. Thanks for the video.
Are there any videos comparing the batwing to the wingman side by side
Lawyers be like, that’s not an open book headstock, that’s an open magazine! lol

Wahnsinns Spielerei @kris, absolut genial.
Ciao!
You are a fantastic guitarist Kris. So musical.
Thanks so much Nikolaj!!
That's a great looking and sounding guitar.
Its a waste of a tree! i must be honest arrrrrgggghhhh!
good tone :) vintage style awesome :)
Guitar of Alpha...
It looks cool but a seems a bit chunky... Or is it just the video
It only looks big because I’m not a big dude. 😆 Also it’s not a heavy guitar at all if that’s your concern.
Wow. That guitar has tons of mojo. And you really let it sing.
Those viby blues tones are awesome!
Thanks a ton buddy! Yeah those warm bluesy tones were my favorites too. 🤤
Beauty !
Very nice!
do the vega series guitars also get the same treatment as the original series?

But give the PU's in it a chance first... Baum makes awesome pickups! I'm truly blown away by the ones in my Conquer 59.

This one is on loan and has to go back. But who knows 😜
@@KrisBarocsi You Do A Great Job Thanks
Very good review and fantastic playing, as usual! Thank you.
I'm in love with their Wingman! I wish I had design it myself!
Glad you like it! Yeah man, same here. The Wingman is probably my favourite Baum model. This one rocks too though with those sweet mini humbuckers.
