I was pretty impressed by Hamburg, surprised they did not at least score in that final with the amount of chances they had. But sometimes the luck isn't there.
Thank you Forest. Liverpool would probably have 2 more european cups. They don't need how much they brag about it. Yeah english football was brilliant that area. Before the ban..
Forest didn't do much in an attacking sense but after scoring early, they were happy to sit back deep and soak up all the Hamburg pressure which they did masterfully thanks to Peter Shilton.
Feckin magic 🎵we all agree NOTT'M FOREST ARE MAGIC, at that final despite being the current European champions, the famous team still weren't favourites, had these clowns no heard of clough an Taylor?well they huv noo, UUUU RED'S FTID.
1:40 - this was a correct offside decision (i doubted it at the time because opponent shilton had knocked the ball directly out to him wherever the hamburg player was) - but he was already offside by the time the previous hamburg player had kicked the ball into shilton and had not got back onside in time.

@@Diddy1970AD Is this where the trophy was actually lifted? I thought maybe McGovern had already received the trophy and was taking it over to the fans but the fact that the officials are behind him and McGovern is facing someone in a suit makes it look like he received the trophy right there. I thought they would at least have a makeshift podium so the presentation could have taken place in the centre of the pitch.
Hamburg were probably the best team in Europe at the time, but Forest got through it thanks to Shilton and a great solo effort by Robertson.
The Shilton final.

Peter Shelton, one of the greatest English keepers...outstanding performance

Tactical masterclass from Forest. No way they should have won this game.
Shilton GOAT! Pele couldn't believe it in the WC
8:18 Hamburg are the champions of Europe again?
💎⚽️
Cloughie is the greatest British manager of all time.
Hamburg was unlucky but way better team
surprised that Stan Bowles was not playing for Forest. Im sure he played against Ajax in the semi final
He'd been banned from the squad by Clough for playing in a testimonial match without permission.
Le but de Keegan est valable.
Keegan diving all over the place as usual!
0:28 That could be a red card today.
That was in the Bernabeu?
Yes
The days when grounds had unique goal nets. All much of a muchness now. One size fits all. Why is this I wonder?

8:33 What a stupid place to lift the trophy.
Yep totally agree, the camera hardly captured John McGovern lifting it.
