A great Nottingham Forest versus a once great Ajax. Really interesting to watch. Am an Ajax Amsterdam supporter but Forest is my “English” team (my wife is from Nottingham)
Brian Clough is the greatest ever manager. To take two provincial teams from the 2nd division and win the league is amazing. To win it the season after being promoted with forest then go on to win 2 European Cups is truly sensational. The greatest manager England never had
The Ajax Number three, Piet Wijnberg, did very well to keep Robertson in check for most of the game. But you can't mark a guy when he's taking a penalty.
Enjoyed watching this! Never realised Stan Bowles played in a European cup semi final for Forest. Sadly passed away today. Great player.. Great team. And on less than perfect playing surface!
Great team -- you can see a pattern with Athletico Madrid and Leicester. Great organisation, great spirit, very good players ... and a manager who keeps football simple. No obsession with possession, no overpumped stars who fancy themselves too much, and ball played quickly to feet ... ah, Cloughie ...we remember you..
Thanks for this! Forest were a hardworking side in those days. They never gave Ajax a minute. Robbo conned a few free kicks but he knew how to take penalties.
alfretonred Robbo sure had enough practice taking penalties - that was his 14th successful spot kick with over a month left in the season! My goodness.
Good to see Stanley Bowles playing here. Does some nice touches- one of which leads to the penalty. He was badly used at Forest who completely wasted his talent.

Imagine Aberdeen beating Real Madrid in a European final.
