Good for you, man. Its a really impressive transformation, and I think the touching on things like body dysmorphia is really important. A lot of people dont even realize they have it, and mentioning just how different someone can look in different lighting or on a highlight reel like social media is so insanely beneficial for people to hear. Especially considering this is something (especially from guys) that is rarely talked about.

I started dieting and gyming in November. Unlike the recommendations to go slow and make gradual changes, I threw myself in the deep end by going 6 days a week and completely switching up my diet from total junk every day to learning how to cook and eating clean no matter what. Things were going great until last month when my gym was forced to close for renovations for a week, followed by myself getting (man) flu which put me out of action for another 2 weeks. I know deep down I've only been making excuses but it's been really tough for me getting back into routine and I've definitely slipped back into old habits. To try keep it short, I just wanted to say thank you. This video is the sign I needed that I've taken advantage of this break long enough and it's time to get back on the grind. Best of luck with your future goals and I'm looking forward to seeing what you post on your other channel!

    • @TorvestaRS
      @TorvestaRS  5 месяцев назад +1

Like I said. When shit gets tough, take it easy. For example your gym shut. Even if you did 2 home workouts a week with bodyweight or homemade weights even for 20-30 mins. Cut back when things get tough, the best thing you can do is stay consistent and don’t take big breaks. Keep it going. Thanks a lot

Congrats dude, I’ve gone through a similar body transformation in the last 3 years; it feels good to be comfortable with how you look.
As a piece of advice to others, I took up climbing in inside gyms. I would really recommend this. Go there, climb, meet people - they’re insanely friendly - and just enjoy the sport; the fitness will come.
I genuinely think a lot of people would find it a more relaxed, perhaps less likely to become physique-obsessed alternative to going to a regular gym.

I've recently started doing just that, where i started eating slightly better alternatives, whole wheat tortillas, olive oil ranch, real butter with a good ingredients list and I felt like it wasnt really enough but like you've shown me that yeah im doing something right and that feels so good. Good for you ❤️ agree with every thing you recommended.
I think maybe I'd say for beginners, an upper/lower split is good. Upper, lower, rest, upper, lower, rest, rest.
But yeah awesome. Happy to see more gamers taking physical and mental health seriously, especially the whole foods etc.

I'm already seeing results and am motivated to keep it going, I still need to work on my diet to maximize the gains, and this video keeps that fire lit under me to go all in. Wow Alex. When I first started watching this video, I thought you got hacked or something. But as I continued to watch, I was left speechless with the amount of honesty and forthrightness you put forth. It was very vulnerable, and I applaud you for being so genuine and brave, sorry to hear about your father. My dad got cancer, diseases suck. Thank you for trying to help so many people, I think my few criticisms would be to go into a bit more detail like you did with some of your shots, for exanple explain a bit as to why someone would 'train till failure' and what that would look like to a complete gym nooblet. Explain that they should probably rest a bit between sets, especially when they're just starting. I like the bicep curls exanple you did a lot, very through and well documented with video, looking forward to future videos on your new channel further detailing your diet, myprotein explanations and exercise tutorials.

Amazing video, great tips. I've been in the gym for the last 5 years and built muscle but have not been training hard. The last few months I really pushed myself..
1st set to warm up and get blood flowing, 2nd set to make me struggle, 3rd set to make me fail. I've seen massive strength gains, and I feel phenomenal as result.

Awesome video man, I just started on my gym journey. I was kind of the opposite of you. I've always been a runner and just did push ups, pulls ups, and sit ups as a work out. I liked it, kept me cut and lean. Now I'm going to the gym, lifting weights and gaining muscle. I met you at Twitchcon 2017 and you've made huge difference. I'll keep on my workouts and maybe Runescape can be the fittest gamers soon.

Torv, this video came in at the right moment for me. I'm about to be 30 next month and ever since I was 15 I have been struggling with keeping discipline, I got a month or two and then I stop for a couple of years. This week I came back and I feel different this time, my mind seems to be in another place this time around. I have a feeling I will actually be able to keep it up this time. When I look at you I feel very much identified, you give me this feeling that you are the friend I never had that walks a similar path to mine. In another universe we are best friends man. Cheers brother, I'm excited for your fitness content.

Really good video for people wanting to get into their health/gym/exercise journey. Sure you could argue about some things you said not being the most 100% optimal but for people starting out it doesn't need to be. Just realistic good information that people can actually use. Alex you are spot on, on literally everything in this video. Every single piece of advice you've given is solid, sound and worth listening to and that's coming from someone that has lost over 110lbs and been in the gym consistently for about 7 years as well, alongside studying to become a dietitian. I've enjoyed your videos for many years now, but this is one, if not the best one thus far. Many of us are in our 20s and 30s, which is exactky when taking care of your health starts becoming important to prevent all kinds of ailments later on in life and this video is an amazing motivator to anyone doubting whether to start or not. THIS is the positive masculinity the world needs more of. Well done man, I'm genuinely proud of you. ❤

Been underweight my whole life, then at 20 was struck with surprise health problems, became extremely sedentary and eventually became severely underweight. I was 23 under 100lbs. My weight is much healthier now though my health issues aren't exactly gone, but man being sedentary for years wrecked my body. I mean my muscles became so weak I couldn't even do one solid pull up, when at 19 y/o I could clear fifteen granted I didn't weigh much.
Now I follow Hybrid Calisthenics (great channel) routine and it has helped a lot, but I've been so inconsistent. Torvesta, I found this video super inspirational and did my routine right after watching it, lol. I need to think deeply about my reasons for improving and become consistent. I just started ordering factor meals last week so hopefully a better diet will help me keep pushing. I want my 99 str cape irl

Let's go dude! Hyped for you Torvesta, super grounded practical advice. I found for me just going to the gym for myself to be boring af so I stopped for a couple of years and didn't play too many other sports due to where I was living. Some friends convinced me to try crossfit 3 years ago and I'm still doing it to this day. I absolutely love it and have started getting involved in some comps. I always encourage people who find working out to be boring, uneventful, etc to try class work outs whether its pilates, crossfit, orange theory, etc. The community you build there makes you want to continually go and I love that they have the workout already planned out for you. I could talk for hours about how everything you said is spot and gas you up further how motivating it is to hear. Just good job bro keep at it and hyped for you!!

My only critique from personal observations is try to be self motivated and don't rely on a workout partner too much. I've seen and talked to plenty people who take really long breaks or completely quit because their workout partner got busy and couldn't make it to gym. The most consistent are usually those with self motivation who can workout alone or those with many partners, almost a small group.
Everything else is spot on. We all started from somewhere. DAY ONE> one day.
    Love to see it.
DO NOT LET A DOCTOR SEND YOU TO THE GYM. Go now if you can!
Personally I need to start cutting soon but I'm worried that I loose some gains but it is a must so lets see how that goes hah.
PS. Gratz on 99 str =D

It doesn’t have to be a specific goal. I’d think of a deep motivation. For example; being fit and healthy for your kid and family. For me like I mentioned, I don’t want to live life with regrets. And I know if I didn’t push my body I’d live with regrets. So much to achieve. Dig deep, what’s your reason for wanting to better yourself. Best of luck
