When I made this, I squared the HST to 9 inches which takes away the need to worry about being so accurate with the initial sewing and cutting and still makes a nice big quilt.
I LOVE YOU JENNY!!!! . EACH AND EVERY VIDEO ARE GREAT!!! YOU MAKE MY DAY WITH ALL OF YOUR VIDEOS. I AM 54 YEARS OLD & NOW I AM A WIDOW & ALL YOUR VIDEOS MAKE'S ME SMILE BY WATCHING YOUR SMILES. I HAVE LEARNED A LOT BY YOUR VIDEOS. PLEASE KEEP THEM COMING. MY STEP MOTHER WATCHES YOUR VIDEOS, ALSO. I DIDN'T KNOW SHE WAS WATCHING YOUR VIDEOS TOO. SO, THAT IS GREAT TO KNOW FOR ME SO I CAN TALK TO SOMEONE ELSE HOW YOU HAVE TOUCHED MY HEART. HAHAHA. ALSO, SHE SAID SHE TOO ALSO LEARNED A LOT BY WATCHING YOU!! I HOPE I SAID THIS RIGHT FOR YOU TO UNDERSTAND MY THOUGHTS & FEELINGS ABOUT HOW YOU TOUCHED MY LIFE AFTER MY HUSBAND'S DEATH?? THIS IS ANOTHER GREAT QUILT. I CAN'T WAIT TO TRY & QUILT THIS QUILT, ALSO.
I can't tell you how thrilled I am that you made a tutorial about this block! For months I've been admiring this block, but every time I found directions for it, they were so confusing - probably because I'm new to quilting. In any event, I've started my Grand Adventure quilt and it couldn't be easier. Thank you so much, Jenny, for showing us that we CAN do it!
Hi Jenny, I just quilted a quilt like this for a lady and loved it! She told me about your tutorials and here I am watching and loving them all!! I from Mountain Home Arkansas, but maybe some day I'll make it up to see your shop. Keep the tutorials coming---I'm going to watch them all!!!!
I've always wanted a Native American quilt. Thanks Jenny for showing me the mountain block. Your video will be in my file forever as one of my faves from you. I love you. Thank you.
I've been dying to try Delectable Mountain for some time now... Oh my gosh I have some gorgeous fall prints and deep rich colors... I'm totally jazzed now! Thanks Jenny and crew! Outstanding!
This looks like a fun and easy project that I want to make. Beautiful fabric, love the colors. Thank you Jenny. Great tip to mark the ruler with painter's tape.
Cute, cute, cute! Love that your quilts can be made with precuts, or with a few extra steps, yardage you already have! I just love this, and have some beautiful violets that I'm going to use! Thanks for the tutorial
This is a great tutorial! I did get confused when Jenny said that after the squares were cut in half there would be two stacks of 20. Once I watched the entire video, I figured out it would have teen two stacks of 40. Jenny is great and specks so clearly and concise. Loved shopping at her stores! A must see for any quilter!
Jenny here is a great tip. When using the tape put it on the back side of your ruler. The edge of the tape will then act as a guide against the fabric and make cutting more accurate.
This really is a beautiful design, and the added "snowballed" strips on the outside edges just completes the pattern. And those fabrics really blend gorgeously together. LOVE IT! ~Diana from Toronto (p.s. I did some math for those who might rather cut their own background fabric from yardage, and 3+3/4yards ought to do it!)
LOVE this fabric! I think this would be the quilt for my batik cake. I've waited for just the right one. Now, for a cake of white, and I can do this. Thanks, Jenny. LOVE your quilts!
Absolutely love the quilt Jenny!! I can see using Aztec fabric to make a quilt, and I can also see rotating the block to put the diamonds underneath instead of along the sides. This would also be a great design for a miniature quilt and you could also make a runner for your table, a place mate, and a pillow.
Hello Jenny, your new quilt is just so beautiful. I so look forward to each new quilt. Just so exciting to see what you come up with next. I'm putting this one on my list.
This is awesome!! I saw a diagram of this w/numbered strips and the steps from squares to half triangles etc. Being a linear visual thinker, seeing how the numbered strips were organized and sewn together was great, and watching you assemble the squares was icing on the cake. I love it!! Thank you for sharing your knowledge, tips and trick with us. Where would we be without you Jenny? ❤️
Maryellen, I agree with you. Jenny and her team always make quilting so much fun AND easy. I have lot's of quilt block patterns with the traditional way of cutting and sewing them together. Jenny takes those same difficult block patterns and make them easier for the rest of us! Yea for MSQC!!
I have yet to visit Hamilton, MO in my travels, was just thinking it would be so cool, to allow some of your customers into this taping of the tutorials, I would really enjoy it. You inspire so many of us, Thanks Jenny
I just love this block and was hesitant to make a quilt from it. After watching this video, I am ready to try it. I have my layer cakes ready to go. Thank you, Jenny, for helping me build my confidence in quilting.
What a beautiful quilt Jenny! I wish you would of shown the back. I enjoy seeing what fabrics you choose for your backing. I have enjoyed all of your tutorials, you're a great teacher!
So sorry about that. We actually used the Shiny Objects - Jewels Velvety Vines Pepper Grass Metallic Yardage for the backing. Here's the link to it for you: www.missouriquiltco.com/shop/detail/71664/rjr-fabrics/flaurie-and-finch/shiny-objects-jewels-velvety-vines-pepper-grass-metallic-yardage
Oh dear. I just went to order the fabric - and both the layer cake and the collection of fat quarters are marked "currently unavailable". If anyone from MSQC happens to read this comment - any chance this might be available soon? I just checked the RJR website, and it looks like this line was released fairly recently.
I can't tell you how excited I am about this quilt tutorial!! Thank you so much for posting this. Quilting is such a meaningful hobby in my family. So many of my beloved family members create beautiful quilts. You have been a huge help to me in keeping this tradition going for my generation. Quilting is a lost art and you are a big part in keeping it alive. Thank you again for all that you do.
Jenny you have outdone yourself! The only two descriptions of this quilt are beautiful and slick as a greased pig! I have loved delectable mountains but hated all the methods for putting it together. Until now, of course! Thanks so much
This is beautiful Jenny. And so perfect because we are moving from the east to the west buying a new house. Calling it our Grand Adventure. I am going to make this and put this on our bed when we get settled....and one more thing. As we went through Missouri , I wanted to stop and see you, but guess what? It was a Sunday. I was so upset, you were closed....
Oh how unfortunate that you passed through on a Sunday! I hope you get to come back through some day! Best of luck to you on your Grand Adventure move and quilt! :) Happy Quilting!!
Oh my goodness, I made this from my first ever pack of pre-cuts and I love it! My daughter's friend is hiking the Pacific Crest Trail this spring and we are going to document his journey in the white strips, up and down the "mountains" and give it to him when he returns. :-). Also, adding the piece of tape on the ruler was genius.
That sounds like such a fun adventure for your daughter's friend and for you and your daughter!! We would love it if you shared pictures with us on Facebook and Instagram!
Great tutorial, I started something similar without a proper pattern, when I came back to it after a long period of time I couldn't remember how to do it. Thrilled to find this such a great help. Thank you.
I LOVE IT!! What a gorgeous quilt with all of those purples! Would also make a great masculine quilt with the darker neutral fabrics!! Thanks for another one to add on to that list of "must do's" that never seem to end!! Happy Friday! :)
I love this pattern so much just made a big order from MSQC top, batting, and backing. Might say one stop shop.I'm making it for my nephew who is wanting something to remind him of mountains, since he lives in Colorado. So I snapped several picture of different patterns this being one of them and texted them to him.He picked this one out. Can't wait to my treasure chest of goodies comes to start making it.
You are amazing to make this intricate block into something I feel like I can do. I have to say I wait anxiously for your new quilt each Friday! Keep them coming...
When I make mine, I will aim to sew the darker units on the top, and lighter on the bottom so that the darker Mountain appears to be creating a lighter reflection in the water in front of it. Love this design!
You are just so stylish! Love your tutorials. I have made several quilts from MSQC. You are awesome. Just received my material and am ready to go! Thank you for your great instructions. I have learned so much from you. Merry Christmas to you, your family, and everybody at MSQC!
How I love this quilt I must make it. Jenny has anyone noticed how you always seem to co-ordinate you jacket/cardigan to match your colours on the quilt. Such attention to detail
I visited Missouri Star Quilt Co today for the first time. Only 70+ miles north of my home. Two of my friend went with me. We had a blast and everyone was so friendly to us.
Nice quilt!! I can visualize Christmas trees made from various green fabrics (maybe batiks?) and blocks turned upright??? As always, LOVE your tutorials and your fabric selection. Keep 'em coming Jenny!!
I love this quilt! I am going to make this in honor of my great grandmother Minnie Grandon. She was a quilter. I was only a little girl when she passed, so I didn't get to talk to her about her quilts.
When I made this, I squared the HST to 9 inches which takes away the need to worry about being so accurate with the initial sewing and cutting and still makes a nice big quilt.

Beautiful Design and beautiful fabric too.

What a fun quilt! We'd love to see your quilt when it's complete!
I liked that you gave it a sophisticated border with the cornerstone diamonds in the 1st border. So lovely.
Watching Jenny makes me feel like I can do anything even though I have only been quilting a few month.Best wishes from London.
This looks like a fun and easy project that I want to make. Beautiful fabric, love the colors. Thank you Jenny. Great tip to mark the ruler with painter's tape.

This quilt is GORGEOUS!!! I have never seen this pattern before and I love it! Thank you so much!
I love the quilt and I love the fabric line!!!
Oh my goodness, first time watching this, I thought it would be a jelly roll quilt. The cutting is so genius!
Grand indeed....fabulous....thanks again
Wow, sure beats sewing the white triangles onto to the material. So fun

I just love this block and was hesitant to make a quilt from it. After watching this video, I am ready to try it. I have my layer cakes ready to go. Thank you, Jenny, for helping me build my confidence in quilting.
I was wondering how complicated it will get for this quilt and than I saw what you did... I‘m speechless!!! Thank you Jenny 😘
I have so many 10" squares from your Co., and now I have a great quilt pattern to make from them. Thank you.
This is one of my favorite quilt tutorials to date.

I am so sorry about that. We are to have them back in stock late April/ early May. We do however, have lots of the fabric by the yard!
Thank you for responding. I have put it on my wish list.
