    Thanks for your elaboration on DEWA Practices. I would like to know, when you have a 32 A TP isolater, and a 40 A ELCB serving the Board, how can the extra 8 Amps be handled safely. Shouldn't they be the same or the ELCB rated less than the isolater?

    • @Electrical_Engineers_Academy
      @Electrical_Engineers_Academy  3 года назад +1

      The 32A rated isolator means that the isolator can handle a maximum of 32A...but it wdoes not have any tripping functionality even if the 32A rating is exceeded.
      The upstream breaker in the SMDB should not allow more than 32A to pass tot eh DB so it should be rated at 32A as it will trip if 32A is exceeded.
      But for an ELCB...it has 2 rating....Ampere and Milliampere...40A rating means that maximum 40A current can pass through....but you don't use an ELCB as an MCB...you are mainly choosing an ELCB for its mA rating...such as 30mA, 100mA, etc.. which will trip in case of the current leakage exceeding this rating.

    • @rajanvarghese2352
      @rajanvarghese2352 3 года назад

      @@Electrical_Engineers_Academy , thank you for the clarification. I understand that the ELCB/RCCB device will trip on the rated millamperes. For domestic supply, depending on the Calculated load, commonly 63 Amp /100 Amp Isolators for 3 phase supply is my observation. Most places in Oman, the load schedule is not available next to the DB. Keep up the good work, and I will be looking forward for your new videos. Alf salaam.👍👏🤝

    Why the maximum ampere rating of 13a Single socket outlet is connected only in 200w each onces,and how many 13a sockets can connect.
    If the load balancing is more than 20% in any of the phases either R or B, how can we balance the load. (Making spare?)

    will you explain why it is 100mA for lighting and why 30mA for power points? also why it is 40A ELCB rating? thanks

    • @Electrical_Engineers_Academy
      @Electrical_Engineers_Academy  2 года назад

      Many reasons :
      1. To avoid false tripping due to current leakage. Nature of the load dictates this. For example, lights, in their operational mode, usually have high current leakage... There 30mA will cause false tripping. 100mA ensures that it will only trip if there is something wrong in the circuit.
      2. For safety and protection of humans. Low level sockets are accessible to humans, therefore you want to provide a small suitable ELCB current rating to ensure that it not permit more than the amount of current that a human can tolerate if anyone get in touch with a live conductor.

      @@Electrical_Engineers_Academy One more thing, how about the lights in the wet areas, such as toilet & bath, why we should use the 30mA and for FCU's should use 100mA.

    1 socket we can take 100w in schedule.. Then 3 phase 32A industrial socket how much watts in schedule?

    • @Electrical_Engineers_Academy
      @Electrical_Engineers_Academy  2 года назад

      One socket load allocation is 200W as per DEWA.
      Industrial socket load allocation is varying, depending on the connected equipment, but typically you can connect up to 5kw.

  • @Vivekvvooz
    @Vivekvvooz 2 года назад

    Till how much load can single phase supply take ?

    • @Electrical_Engineers_Academy
      @Electrical_Engineers_Academy  2 года назад

      A maximum of 2 AC units (window type) are permitted to be connected on a single phase. If more than that, then 3 phase shall be used.
      As a personal standard practice, personally, 8 kW is the maximum that I have connected on a single phase DB.
