I’ve had my High Point for eight years now…it’s super reliable and now seeing these videos trying to destroy it..I knew I made a good choice for the money..hi point stays winning
I've heard a lot of people talk about how ugly the C9 is. My point is if a thug breaks into your house, he's not worried about how ugly your gun is, but how massive that gun looks , while staring him into his face. My C9 always goes boom when the trigger is pulled, that's enough for me!
I have one I took off a friend who wanted the money for something else. I had no need or use for it, but knew the $70 I gave could be recouped if I needed it (he had offered it to me for sixty, but I felt bad giving so little, so I added the only other cash I had on me at the time.) Hi-Point pistols are known for being heavy, clunky, inexpensive, and as ugly as the southern end of a northbound hog. They're not known for being unreliable. ;-)
It's not that hard to field strip it after you've done it a couple times and "MoM" (Hi-Point) doesnt recommend you do it but every couple thousand rounds. CLP the crap out of it, let stand for a few minutes, then brush the chamber and breach face. After 5 or 6 good rips with a bore snake, spray it out with compressed air and apply your favourite oil/preservative and it's ready. Lather rinse and repeat as necessary or desired. I actually like the JHP45 handgun. It's more ergonomic and comfortable to shoot (I have large hands) than my G21, which I hate. Well, all but the well built magazines, capacity, and battery of arms. They kinda look similar to me But I admit that I don't care one way or the other. Truthfully the Hi-Point is a chunky clunky tactical defensive monkey that has all the charm and practicality of a power drill and the trigger used to start out about the same until break in. But dayum if that top heavy lady can't sling an accurate pill. I was legit so impressed back in 05 that I could not wait to get a carbine. I scratched that itch when they brought out the 995ts modernized stock version with last round bolt hold open, but I traded it to a friends Lady who needed a lighter recoil. I think I was on a waiting list for several years for the 4595ts 45auto to be released From the time they announced it's R&D or production, until it finally released in 2011 if memory serves (and it often doesn't) I love and value my Hi-Point's as much as any of my defensive tools.
I just got my 1st high point C9 pistol I won the 5050 raffle at the gun show the tic was $5 50/50 was$120 = hi point = $5 🤗🤗 i am a new subscriber I can't wait to see all of your videos thank you for your knowledge and expertise
The more you shoot the better they get. I watched this video before I bought mine. I used synthetic gun oil and Emory cloth to polished that trigger linkage. Polished the sear where it fits in the frame. Put a drop of oil on sear spring. Polished the slide and removed the powder coating, and dummy rounds to cycle a lot. It works great was a fun science type experiment. Its right beside my Smith and Wesson at the range. I have worn out the firing pin springs and recoil spring due to high round count. Hi-Point sent me 2 replacement sets with firing pins too. It just goes like a champ. Now have the JXP 10 to go with it
The Hi Point is over engineered and the slide's a lot thicker and heavier than other zinc alloy handguns so should be much more durable. Those other zinc handguns like Raven or Lorcan had slides about the same dimensions as a steel slide which is probably why they broke.
I know looks are immaterial to the weapons reliability but that original c9 the "maverick" looks a lot better. I picked up my C9 from a pawn shop when I was stationed at Whiteman afb for the princely sum of $50. I'd never seen a handgun that cheap and asked the clerk if it worked. I had no idea what highpoint firearms were, but as it turns out that 50 dollars was well spent. I've put an ungodly amount of rounds through it and everyone who hasn't shot a highpoint and scoffs at them are usually the first ones who want to shoot it lol. So after 16 years of ownership I can say that while uglier than sin, the c9 is a very reliable gun, oh and ive never stripped it to clean it just some wd40 and a rag every now and then
I enjoyed your review and found it very informative. I love my Hi-Point C9 and have found it to be accurate, reliable and it runs everything I feed it. I'm thinking of getting a Hi-Point 995 carbine.
Sold all of my H&K, S&W, Glock, CZ...Bought one of these. I love going to the range and out shooting all the gun snobs with my Hipoint C9 ! It is complete BS that these are unreliable and jam any more than an H&K, S&W, Glock, CZ..
I have thought about purchasing the new 10mm version Hi Point. I don’t think I will be selling all of my other pistols and just have one. I’m a firm believer that you can never own to many guns!!! My friend owns a C9 and yes it shoots very well & very accurate!!!!!
Love your videos Craig. They are always very interesting and informative and I always learn something new, including this one. All that said, l’m not a Hi Point fan. Quite possibly the ugliest pistol(s) ever produced. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder though. 😎
Thank you. I appreciate the comments. I am glad you enjoy the content. I agree the C9 is not the best looking gun out there, but it works and is all the gun that many can afford.
@@CraigsGunChannel And since some of us DONT carry a Firearm as a fashion accessory,,that is not a chief concern and frankly, one that i find hilarious, when used as an excuse to disparage a particular fire arm, that can be used to defend ones self and is the Chief concern,or should be..
@@chinabluewho it is my understanding that production was just temporarily stopped due to covid impacts. When I last communicated with them they indicated production was to resume in the fall.
@@CraigsGunChannel Oh that is good to hear, as long as even one company is producing a .25 auto someone will make the ammo for it. I thought it was somewhat odd that they would stop making it as they have quite literally a monopoly on the .25 ACP market and one with such a high magazine capacity at 9/10 rounds. It only takes one bad design flaw to doom a pistol design so I wasn't sure if the final nail in the coffin for the .25 had been hammered home. Would be interested to find out if they will finally make a 5 or 6 inch barrel extension like they do for the little .22 so it can be a nice little metal slapper. Also I find it insane that the .25 ACP is struggling so hard to even exist as it gives the reliability of the centerfire with the soft recoil of the .22 plus you get the added benefit of a rimless cartridge so if you wanted to you could easily have a reliable double stack 20 round magazine in a very small concealable package.
If your hipoint c9 doesn’t work 100% perfect its one of the poor quality ones (some of them have poorly molded plastic pieces that need to be ‘finished’ by hand.) i had one with atleast 7 flaws and it was jam city. I polished the parts and that gun runs perfectly now.
Rail or optic ready on this gun makes no sense. The light and red dot would more in price than the gun itself. Also some brands like Canik Stoeger Taurus etc have much better guns that are not much more in price. I wouldnt be surprised if Hipoint is history in 10 years.
I sold scores of C-9 Hi- Points in my shop. In my opinion, it's the best gun in their entire line.
I'm more of a milsurp rifle collector. But i really appreciate that someone is telling the history of commercial firearms. Keep it up!

Agree on that, they do what they are needed to do.
Had one for a while once and it was a nightmare to break down and reassemble but, IT ALWAYS WENT BANG
That is the general assessment most have on them. At the end if the day they are fairly reliable.
