      You are 100% correct!!! This is clickbait for fans. The lawsuit hasn't even reached discovery and these guys have already order B1G patches for the new uniforms. The ACC won't settle until they absolutely have to maybe 1-2 years from now.
      Secondly, I read where 11of the B1G chancellors and presidents won't vote in any institution that doesn't have AAU accreditation. We've all been told it wasn't a requirement to join the B1G. It isn't. What is required is a majority vote by the chancellors and presidents. So, basically, it is a requirement.

    The SEC has a tradition of spurning and spitefully treatment of FSU. Before joining the ACC, it was a long standing desire to be in the SEC by FSU. Unfortunately, the SEC continued to ignore the Seminoles until after an offer was made by the ACC. A counter was made by the SEC and withdrawn once the Seminoles chose the ACC. Only the influence of ESPN could likely sway FSU to go there based on contractual obligations. As a longtime alum of FSU, I never want to see my school in the SEC. I have no respect for the SEC conference despite all the championships. Likewise, I despise ESPN who has orchestrated this scenario.

    @DanRagoo 27 дней назад +1

    Yes ESPN is the one paying for the rights but it’s the ACC is the one that receives the money and then divides it among its members. So going to SEC doesn’t solve anything, the ACC would have to ok it, if its claims are correct.

  • @Donovan_Williams
    @Donovan_Williams 28 дней назад +1

    With all due respect, I think Jake has it backwards. If we go from ACC to SEC, then ESPN just moves money from one pocket to another, and there is no new money to pay the ACC for the exit. However, if FSU goes to the BIG, then money goes from ESPN to FOX. If SEC was interested in helping us, they could have done this 2 years ago before any litigation was filed. Now that we are on the doorstep of the Big they are going to help us? I don't think so.
    The Clemson/Nelson Mullins legal argument on the GOR - that it only applies to games played while we were a member of the ACC - is very persuasive and threads the needle and is likely to be how the case is decided. So FSU's "liability" on GOR is probably zero. ESPN might have helped with the GOR if we go from ACC to SEC, but FSU won't need that help.
    What remains is the $140 million exit fee and whether its enforceable. Its probably not and FSU will probably sue ESPN/ACC for antitrust violations for trying to enforce these unlawful agreements against FSU. We lost about $30 million a year for multiple years, and we can triple that in antitrust.
    Its still possible that we go to the SEC but considering Feinbaum came out a few weeks ago saying that the SEC didn't want us, I think the SEC knows we already picked Big. They did the same thing back in 1992.
    Also I think BIG and SEC have already carved up the ACC. Most likely scenarios is that the Big got the big prizes, FSU and Clemson, so SEC got next pick which was NC. Its possible in my mind that Big also takes Miami, GT, NCS, and or VT/VA. Those are some interesting recruiting territories and new TV markets. GT and Miami are schools with great geographies that could do a lot more with a little more money.
    As for a superconference, yeah that is likely to happen. Big will rename itself the National League. If the SEC can add a team outside of its region it can use the name American League.
    As an aside, a superconference will be a vehicle for the big boys to not share money with the Vanderbilts and Northwesterns. They won't kick anyone out. They will just set up a new league and not invite those guys.

    I will say, I do think those teams have potential but they’re in the bottom half of the league not Tennessee, LSU, Kentucky. Just saying.
    Just like those bottom teams having upside, so do some of the ones in other leagues you mentioned. Michigan state just got a great coach and made some good moves. I do agree with the Big12 mentions but I also think the Big12 is smart and made some intelligent moves to stay around for a while. Now, maybe there is something that ESPN could offer The ACC in return for lowering the cost of exit for a school that leaves for the SEC but if he wants to talk about lawyering, now you are talking about market allocation. You guys make a big deal home field advantage in the SEC. There is an advantage, but not for the reasons you think. A study was done across multiple sports. What was shown is that the fans don't affect the performance of either team. Yes, the crowd can cause false starts, but they don't affect how a team performs. The one thing that was identified as the major factor was referee bias for the home team. It was shown to exist across all sports in the study. The home team fans are influencers on the referees. That's it.

I don’t think travel expenses are the issue, it’s exposure. We become a cast in stone national product when every region gets to see us play. That will change the opportunities for recruiting and additional revenue. The SEC is attractive only in a few teams that are close enough to drive to if you live in Florida. I see a lot of talk about how much tougher the SEC is over everyone else week in and week out. I just do not buy it. Statistically, the Big 12 has had the highest scoring dog fight games week in and week out. I am not saying that the big 12 is the best conference at all. I am just saying, the defense will not have as much high pressure defensive battles against high scoring offences week in and week out. It is like those big 12 defenses are playing 2 games in one in terms of plays. Something that the SEC for sure cannot say and are probably 4th on the list of all of the conferences? What if it is a welcomed change for OU to not have to be in a dog fight aerial battle every week and they end up doing very well due to their experience? I just think that there needs to be a wait and see attitude instead of the pretentious, we are the best attitude that most SEC fans have over other conferences. ESPN is not going to blowup contracts and burn down ACC revenue stream just to prop up the SEC when it could have both SEC and ACC. ESPN will lose money. ESPN needs FSU and UNC to generate viewers.
