Every single test says I'm neutral undertoned. My entire life I've been applying makeup for cool undertones purely because I have very light skin; no wonder I looked so washed out! Thank you for such a clear, concise video!
You are the first person who has ever been able to really help me with this. Thank you! I always thought I had olive undertones, but when I would talk to people about it they would disagree, and this is probably from the redness on my face too! However, my skin responds very similar to you in many of the situations that you described.
I have the same. I have a pale Cool Olive undertone but a yellow skintone. I can look very pale, almost white but can turn rose-gold/golden in sunshine. My liquid foundation looks banana/lemon yellow! Lol
I have been frustrated for several years now with warm vs cold being the only options I was seeing for undertone. Even once I found the idea of neutral, it just didn’t seem right since I actually cannot pull off any color. Cream, khaki or yellow tones make me look sick. But something about various shades of blue don’t look right either, it gives me a less sick, but strange washed out look. I think I must be olive? I love the way turquoise and deep hunter greens or burgundy and dark plum purples look on me. I’ll have to do all these tests to know for sure, but it makes so much sense as to why I’ve been so stumped.
Listen I went all over the internet to make sure I was correct with my undertone. I'm Italian and Brazilian and I want to make sure mine is correct. You were the only one that gives actual information and explain. Amen to that!
As a more cool toned light olive, it took me years to figure this out, too! Glad this info is finally getting out. Well done. Most color analysis completely ignores olives, esp. paler olives.
@@pinktastic6159 yes, I know what you mean. Its really difficult to find light olive foundation. I don't wear foundation too often anymore but a few years ago I bought the blue and the white LA Girl mixing pigment and it helped with that issue a lot, so you can tweak your color. I think they still make it. It wasn't expensive and worked great. If you haven't tried it, you might give it a shot!
@@caravanrose @Pinktastic615 i think I’m neutral olive. Color analysis leans cool and i like silver jewelry better but other markers lean warm. I have a yellow/green skin. No pink at all. Veins all 3 colors. Foundation had been a huge issue because nothing ever really matched. I didn’t wear it for years. I finally found Root Pretty makeup and they have a Cool, Warm, Neutral, and Golden line. The Golden is perfect! I’d highly recommend trying a Golden foundation for Olive skin tones!
I've taken sooooooo many tests and still had no clue until this video. Thank you so much. This has been the most helpful in helping me understand my undertones.

You look great with your make up on, as most of us do if it is applied tastefully, as yours is. You also look great without make up, but how many of us would go completely natural these days without trying to improve something! Really good video, best I have seen on undertones.
Im only 5 minutes in and feel compelled to congratulate you on your honesty and transparency. OBVIOUSLY you are attractive, and yes you do your make up well to enhance your features but after watching you strip down to nothing, I have so much respect for you. 🙏🏽 How many would do such a thing? Thank you for your advice, im hoping I can find mine because ive worn black for the last decade because I've been completely perplexed to understand. Im born in 🦘 to Sri Lankan parents and im lighter than the average SL. But I blueish green veins 😂
Thank you. This was very helpful. It is a more comprehensive test than just the veins and draping. I had my season and colors done at one time when that was popular. I am drawn and have always worn the bold colors of winter, the girl told me I was a spring. These are almost polar opposites. I stayed in the cool palette and I am happy. I do have blue veins. I think you just have to hold things up as you did here. I do that whenever I make decisions about clothing. To find the right shade of foundation is I think more intricate. I'll have to watch this video over again.
I'm so glad it was helpful! Yes, I think all the tests together give the clearest picture. I agree about holding colors up. I do that with clothing, too! And I'm working on a video for foundation right now, so that may help with finding the right foundation shade. ❤
Thank you! This makes total sense as to why I typically match well to neutral undertones. Whenever I visit a makeup counter or places like Sephora, the sales person will always match me to warm undertones. It’s either too peach or too yellow. I have blue green veins, hazel eyes, dark ashy brown hair, and I get burnt before I tan. So many boxes checked. Having said that neutrals are so varied. It’s a challenge to find the right neutral.
What’s happening that you do not make more videos? You really have amazing potential to carve yourself a phenomenal following and path. This video was super informative off the bat.

Oh my god! This was so helpful! I finally realized I’m warm undertone. I thought I was cool an just didn’t get why some of my foundations didn’t work. Tanks for the great and detailed video🙌
Excellent video! As a neutral it can be so frustrating to figure out what’s best for me. From experience I know that all colors don’t work for all neutral toned skins. My skin is actually peachy, and I finally figured out my best colors when I use the color wheel and look at what colors compliment peach, but with the level of saturation I need. Most jewel tones tend to look nice with a peach skin tone, but not yellow or pink. Olive greens, rusts and navy are very flattering with peach.
I haven't finish the test yet but half of the results show that my skin undertone is Neutral and I have I already did a different test before and also the result was that my skin undertone is Neutral but what I don't understand is that my skin doesn't look great with a lot of colors. Many make me look so sick which in fact I am. Cuz I'm too skinny but I really want colors that make my skin look a little bit healthy. I wear a hijab so I also want to figure out the colors that can go with my face.
This is a great video! After all these years I was wrong about my undertone !I always thought I had a warm undertone, but it turns out I have a cool under which explains why I ALWAYS get compliments when I wear jewel tones 😮

It was easy for me to determine my undertones -- with coppery orange hair, fair skin(with freckles), green veins & dark turquoise eyes, I literally scream WARM! However your tests will be very helpful to those who find their undertones are not so easy to analyze. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and time.
Until today, I've had issues figuring out what colors were best for me. Thank you so much sweetheart!!! I'll be checking out more videos from you, girl! 💞
I think I finally know what I am! I think I am cool edging toward neutral. Thank you for being so clear and easy to follow in this complicated subject!
I am pale olive with cool undertone, but I enjoy wearing bright tomato red (it makes me happy and vibrant wearing this color, but I do look a bit yellowish...) and camel (I solve the problem of the color being unflattering on me by wearing a blue/ green/ purple/ cherry red silk scarf close to my face).
You're great! I've been color typed as an warm. I flush easily. I burn first. I'm green and in some cases, I'm gray. Those expensive color analysts give me colors that are so boring. You know, it's not easy being green!
I have been struggling to figure out my skin tone. I have some blue veins , but greenish veins on my warms. I think the clothing test really sealed the deal for me. I look great in cooler toned greens, black, and bright whites. I can't really explain why i like the way these colors look on my skin. I know that when I put on a cream color my skin looks yellow and sickly. But when I put on white my skin looks pink and bright and vibrant. I have this one sweater that is a dark navy blue, and when I put it on i look so pretty and peach toned and I think that means i am cool toned. Turquoise makes me look yellow and sickly.
Thank you for that very detailed and concise video. The best I've come across. You have a lovely voice. You speak slowly and clearly and most of all, Calmly. I am British 😄 we don't much like the loud excited voices of some American Voices. You are also stunning. With or without make-up. Thank you. 😘🏴
Thank you! Very helpful and thorough - although browns and every colour can come in warm and cool tones too so it may be better to go by the tone than colour. If we have gold or warm highlights or a tan cool tones can make gold and cool toned warm colours work. I was lucky when I was a teen and a group of ladies plonked me down in a chair at their colour party I was passing by and used me as their first test model holding up swatches to my face and informed me I was a winter which is why black and winter white work for me but I still could get away with cool shades of brown and pale lemon yellows which are warm but cool enough to get away with when I have a bit of a tan. A tan made me verge on olive a bit more especially as I have hazel eyes. It helps to judge in window light too which is what artists sometimes do to see pure colour or bluer veins might appear green in warm indoor lighting or even change slightly with a tan or over time. 🌈
Thank you, this is very helpful. Most of the videos on finding your season don't take into account neutral tones, which I suspect I have (although I skew more towards cool). I tend towards the Winter jewel tones and black although I can also pull off some muted Autumn colors (like brick red and mustard), and can wear both gold and silver jewelry depending on the outfit. Thanks for making me feel less like a freak of nature! 😀
You are welcome! I'm so glad it was helpful! 😊And thank you for sharing all of this. It certainly sounds like you could be neutral, leaning cool! Thanks so much for watching! ❤
Best video ever!!! I, also, am a warm olive. It's hard to tell because of a medical condition I have that leaves my cheeks red most of the time. When the redness is gone, the warm tone shows. Many years ago when there were only the four season palettes, my mom thought I was a spring or autumn. A professional analyst said I was a summer. That was post partem and I think the hormones were still messing with my skin surface tone. What I wear depends on how tan I am. I have always had a mix of warm and cool hair. I'm a blonde with all colors mingled in including black. I have both ash tones and red tones. Mostly yellow with hints of red in the sun and the front being a very dark ash blonde. So odd. My eyes change. Mostly grey blue but change to green depending on what I wear. I have a yellow gold center in one eye and a golden yellow brown center in the other eye. Everyone just assumes I have dark blue eyes. My veins are blue and green. I prefer copper over gold and silver is not good at all. What I wear depends on my mood mostly.
Thank you so much for sharing! I loved reading it! I also can get away with different colors depending on how tan I am. It's so neat to read what colors work for others, so I appreciate all the detail you shared. 😊 And thanks so much for watching. ❤❤
Thank you so much! ❤ This was the best video on undertones I've ever come across. I thought I was neutral undertone but now you got me thinking that I can be olive maybe..but it's tricky to say cause my skins is very light. It's said neutrals can fit in wide spectrum of colours but not my case(warm look too warm and cool can end up too cold). As far as lipsticks only red, bordeaux shades work for me. No silver nor gold look good on me. :-( Black is ok but I look better in charcoal. You also mentioned dark purple, maroons, navy blue for olive..and that looks great on me. Also pink that has bit of coral. I've been told i look the best in red and dark green.
You are so welcome! I'm so glad it was helpful! ❤ Thanks for sharing all of this, too. It certainly sounds like you might have some olive in your undertone. 😊 Thanks again for watching!
It also has to do with whether you are soft or clear in coloration! If you are a soft (neutral, muted metals, and muted and dusty colors work best. Aly Art has lots of videos, pretty sure i got above info from her videos!
You sound like a Dark Winter. Possibly Dark Autumn. Both Dark seasons can be neutral or olive. I’m a DW and look great with all the shades you mentioned. I’m a pale olive.
I’m very late but I need help. I have black hair with almost a blue tint I have green and a little blue vains I tan gradually and never burn I’ve always liked silver on me better I also notice next to others I look yellow ish or more golden I’ve always thought I was warm or neutral but I’m not sure anymore!! ( also in black clothing I tend to have my yellow ish tones come out a little more
I’m pretty sure I have a neutral undertones but I’m questioning if it’s cool undertones in confusing with it. I have mostly (or almost only) blue and green veins, I think I look good in both gold and silver jewelry, I tried a light shade of pink and I think it looked good on me, and then I tried a darker shade of pink and I thought it looked great on me. What do y’all think? I have fair skin, darker blue eyes, and brown hair.
You are right, you sound like you are neutral. The problem is, there is so many different neutrals. If you have fair skin, I would think you would be neutral fair.
Hi Michelle! I'm very confused about the following: When talking about eyeshadow, we usually talk about using complementary colors (orange, for example) in order to bring out the color of your eyes (blue, in this example). But when it comes to clothing, we usually talk about wearing analogous colors, so that there's harmony. So... Which is it? Complementary, so that it's brought out in contrast or analogous so there's "harmony"?
That is such a good question! And... I think it's both, based on what you are trying to achieve! When we know what color we are working with, such as blue eyes in your example, we can choose if we want to draw attention to that color with a complementary shade like orange, like you mentioned, or if we want to create a more analogous look with similar colors. The same goes for undertones and clothing-once we know our undertone, we can choose colors from the both the complementary and analogous sides of the color wheel to get the desired effect. I hope that helps! 😊❤
Oh I tan so easily. Summer's just kind of starting and I was outside for less than 4 hours and it looks like I've been outside for 2 weeks lol. My son was like wow mom that was quick lol
Thanks so much for all of the tips! You went above and beyond! I’ve been on the fence for a while deciding between neutral and warm so tomorrow when there is natural light I plan to try some of the tests that I haven’t heard of prior to this video. Thank you! 🙂
Wow, you look so much younger without makeup! I have a neutral undertone ! Hooray! I look fine with red hair or ash brown hair, and I've dyed it both, I have all the vein colours in my wrist, and I can wear both gold or silver. My hair is cinnamon and sugar colour, it used to be golden blonde when I was young, and I looked best by far then with gold jewelry. But time changes things. My eyes are a dark grey-blue. I had to buy a lot of foundations to figure this out! : )
Thank you for sharing all of this! So glad you figured out your undertone. :) It took buying a lot of foundations for me to figure out mine, too. 😊❤Thank you for watching!
Great informative video although I still don't know what I am. I very new to this. I did all the tests and came up with different results. I came up with warm, neutral and cool. I have hazel eyes, tan easily that lasts all year. Gold jewellery looks better. Brown hair when natural. I am always darker skin in photos I think. Can you give me some idea without a photo please. I will be definitely following you.
You sound like me, as if you could have neutral undertones with a warm tone meaning your skin color is warm but your undertones are neutral. Many concealers and foundations now offer warm with neutral undertones as options today, which took them long enough. I’ve always had to mix two different color foundations to get my shade, since the late 90’s. Young person are lucky in that aspect, lol.
This video included so much useful information! I really did not know much about undertones at all prior to watching, so I'll definitely give some of these tests a try. Thanks for sharing!
I tend to be a more cool tone, but eyes are hazel. I wear fair makeup because light make me look stark white. ALSO as a senior my complexion has changed. Could you make a video on aging skin? Moisturizer isn't the only thing we need😅
Thanks for the video. I am warm olive green, but darker then you. My grandfather was part Southern Italian and Sicilian , so that is where mine comes from. It's been frustrating my whole life to find foundations. I am not pink, yellow, and neutral sometimes makes me look ashy. Also, like you were talking about seasons and colors. I look best in fall or harvest colors. My hair is also very warm, dark brown with a lot of reddish gold. My eyes though are very dark , you can barely see my pupils lol. I look horrible in pinks, and pastels and I hate purple. I do love neutral burgendy or burgundy/brown tops a lot. Eye shadow... Most cool and even some neutral browns all gray out of my eyelids. I have to have warm beiges and browns. I also love sage and moss green shimmers and certain blues . Like a brown/blue shimmers . And of course coppers and champagne shimmers too.
Thank you for sharing! This sounds just like what I gravitate towards! I have had the same struggle with foundations my whole life. Only recently have brands started bringing out true olive foundations. I also have Southern Italian in me, which is where mine comes from. :)
@@michellelondyn, I went in detail because olive green can be cool, neutral, or warm. So many people just don't get that. I am 48 now, and I gave up on foundation years ago. I use concealer and blend that out well and bare minerals sometimes. I would rather let my own color show through. I bought the classic Viseart neutral mattes people rave about , but I can't use half the colors. They come of as grey on me. I do love their warm mattes though ❤️. Thank you again for the video. Olive green is a rare undertone. In my family we have warm , neutral and cool olive green, and yellow/golden. I am only 1/4 Italian and Sicilian. But I am the one who inherited all the Mediterranean coloring lol.

Thank you for that very detailed and concise video. The best I've come across. You have a lovely voice. You speak slowly and clearly and most of all, Calmly. I am British 😄 we don't much like the loud excited voices of some American Voices. You are also stunning. With or without make-up. Thank you. 😘🏴
Olive cool is what I am. Anytime I hear about olive skin it is with warm tones.
This was really comprehensive and educational! Thank you ❤
Absolutely fantastic video and SO helpful. Finally feel like I have some real clarity on this topic. Thank you so much!
I'm so glad it was helpful! You are very welcome! ❤
I just love your face shape girllll❤️❤️❤️
This was very helpful! I was struggling for years, and this video helped me so much! Thank you
thank you for this. you look so much better without the heavy makeup
+1
You are welcome! ❤
I think so too. The skin is nice though. The eye is heavy. Gorgeous woman nonetheless. 😍
@@goldenlamb777 Thank you for the kind words! ❤
Great video! You have a beautiful voice too 👍🏽👌🏾
Thank you so much for this video!! I had no idea that olive undertones existed until now.
This was very useful. I never got this part until now. Thank you! 🥰
I'm so glad it was helpful! Thank you for watching. ❤
BEST VIDEO EVER! Thank you ❤
By golly, after all these years I have discovered that 🤔 I have neutral undertones. Thank you. Your video was very helpful.
I'm so glad it was helpful!! Thank you for watching! ❤
Thank you friend r such a well thought out and educational video!
Thank you! I am now confident I am neutral even though I’ve been told I’m cool (mostly), warm, and sometimes I even get an olive. 😅
You look so good without makeup! Much younger.
Thank you, i struggled so much to understand olive undertones, and watched a few films already, finally i think i got it, thanks :)
You are welcome! Olive undertones are super tricky to identify. I'm glad this was helpful! ❤
Black is ok but I look better in charcoal.
@@hallievanoutryve3109 That is so true! Thank you for sharing! ❤
You sound like a Dark Winter. Possibly Dark Autumn. Both Dark seasons can be neutral or olive.
I’m a DW and look great with all the shades you mentioned. I’m a pale olive.
I’m very late but I need help.
I have black hair with almost a blue tint
I have green and a little blue vains
I tan gradually and never burn
I’ve always liked silver on me better
I also notice next to others I look yellow ish or more golden
I’ve always thought I was warm or neutral but I’m not sure anymore!!
( also in black clothing I tend to have my yellow ish tones come out a little more
I thought you had a pink undertone! Never olive nor warm, wow!
Your hair is exactly like mine, super helpful 😂
My face has a ton of surface redness, which skewed my results for years. 😂 I'm so glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching. ❤
Excellent. You really did a great rundown.
Thank you for explaining so great!!! you are amazing! ❤💚💙👍👍
I truly enjoyed this video. Very informative and I love the way you speak! Thank you for taking the time to do this!
Thank you for your kind words. I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. Thank you for watching! ❤❤
Finally a great explanation thank you 😊
The most thorough video on undertones!
Thank you so much! It's been hard for me to figure this out!
You're welcome! I'm so glad it was helpful! ❤
I'm very confused about the following:
When talking about eyeshadow, we usually talk about using complementary colors (orange, for example) in order to bring out the color of your eyes (blue, in this example).
Hi Michelle, very informative video and gorgeous make up.

Beautiful and informative tutorial video, thanks!❤
Thank you for your kind words, and for watching! ❤❤
Thanks so much for all of the tips! You went above and beyond! I’ve been on the fence for a while deciding between neutral and warm so tomorrow when there is natural light I plan to try some of the tests that I haven’t heard of prior to this video. Thank you! 🙂
You are welcome! I'm so glad it was helpful, and I hope the tests helped you narrow down which undertone you have! 😊
Now I know my undertone finally!!
Excellent job at helping me figure out what tone I am!!
I'm so glad it was helpful! Thank you for watching! ❤
This video is great and I wish I had found you sooner!!! Thank you!
You're welcome! I'm so glad it is helpful! ❤️
This was extremely helpful and informative!! Thank you!
I'm so glad it was helpful! You're welcome! ❤
Thank you so much for this! It was so helpful. Wow!
You're welcome! I'm so glad it was helpful! ❤
This video included so much useful information! I really did not know much about undertones at all prior to watching, so I'll definitely give some of these tests a try. Thanks for sharing!
I'm so glad it was helpful! Thank you so much for watching! 💖
oh so im also warm olive! this helped alot thank you!
I'm so glad it was helpful! Thank you for watching! ❤
@@michellelondyn , they were from Calabria. San Sisto , San Fili, Montalto Uffgo. That I remember lol.
@@MrsMac3099 Yes, absolutely! I hear very few people talking about how olive can be cool, neutral, or warm, either. I appreciate all the detail. :) And yes to warm mattes! ❤
@@MrsMac3099 Mine were from Sicily. 😊
Super excited for this beauty basics series!! ❤️
I'm so glad! Thank you!!! 💖
Oh thank you for sharing your knowledge 🙏 . This is such useful content. Helpful. I think you deserve an award⭐️✨️
Thank you for your kind words. I'm so glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching ❤❤
Thank you! great video!
I can’t decide after all these tests so I think I’m neutral 🎉
The issue I have with the vein color test is that is soooo easy to see a vein green and blue at the same time!
Thank you for this informative video! 🙏 💜 Kim
Thank you ao much, I'm warm/olive. I recently got a compliment when I was wearing an off white outfit.
You're welcome! Thank you for watching! ❤
This really helpful! Thank you! I am a light warm olive.❤
I'm so glad it was helpful! And so nice to meet another light warm olive! 😊❤
I've tried cool, warm, neutral--nothing looks right on me. I've been told I'm olive toned but could never find makeup with that undertone. I'm going to see what I can find now. Thanks!
You are welcome! Hope you find the perfect makeup for you. 😊❤ And thanks for watching!
Same. I'm light medium and just settle for neutral. The cool light medium foundations too pink. Warm light medium is too yellow.
Thank you for the video. I think I have the same skin tone as you. So this was really helpful.
I have dark blue-purple genetic circles under my eyes and I have always wondered why grey doesn’t look good on me!! Makes sense, same reason why I have a hard time with most purple eye shadows
Yes, I have the same issues with purple eyeshadow, too! Thank you for watching. ❤
So much helpful... Thankuuuu❤
So I don't know if all that's completely true because I have dark auburn hair I have brown hair with super red highlights but I having Olive undertone itan very easily I'm Italian Brazilian
Thank you for the video. Reinforced that I’m a cool to neutral.😊
I'm so glad it was helpful. Thank you for watching! ❤
How is it that red heads can have warm undertones but burn easily? Where would they fall then? Warm or cool?
