This song only becomes more meaningful when you realize it’s the last “comic relief” area but...the trumpet is still playing. Yado’s still there. Pretty literally the last hurrah before rapture. Absolutely masterful.

its comic relief taken to its natural extreme, honestly. perhaps why we hear the trumpet in this song but not in many others is because the raw *lunacy* of the inhabitants here, my particular favorite being the guy who just sits around, back turned, and if you try to talk to him he just stares at you, dull eyed, before exploding and nearly killing you and your entire party. nothing here makes sense, theres no logical explanation, which is the logical outcome of everything else ingame, again, taken to its extreme.

Approaching him causes him to stop playing, subsequently causing the background music to stop, and look at you. This happens to be Dr Yado, implying that he follows Brad throughout nearly the entire game.

This is the musical equivalent of trying really hard to smile even though you’re having a breakdown.
This song is so nostalgic for me, I'll never forget the summer 4 years ago when I played this game for the first time, it has an atmosphere I can't ever forget. This track is so beautifully melancholy while still being so upbeat and bright, but peeling back the layers and knowing what the trumpet represents... it becomes quite a tragic song, the perfect metaphor for Painful itself.

My favorite theme, it feels hopeless yet carefree, a sort of forlorn tranquility.
"I see people say this is the last "cheerful" place in the game, but honestly I think it's all a facade, I think. This song sounds like someone who has given up and is revelling in the madness and hopelessness of it all.

That kinda fits the salvation rangers perfectly, they're just some bros who want to roleplay, something relatively peaceful to do considering the circumstances. But when you see them here, all you see are their mangled corpses. They've fallen prey to the brutality of the world they're living in, they've fallen prey to joy. And now, they've "Given up and are reveling in the madness and hopelessness of it all.' Not to mention salvation green killed himself in the joyful.

I like how happy this song is in a weird delusional way. It’s like society is falling apart and you’re just like “oh hell yeah, cool fucking ramp to do bicycle tricks on”.
I get more of a mournful feeling from this song compared to the comic relief everyone else derives. The area is certainly goofy, but the trumpet and fishman choir in the music always felt somewhat sad to me.
It’s upbeat and then when the other Instruments fade out the entire mood changes. It sounds like a theme you would hear when a flashback of your journey up to now is playing

This song and area seems so cheerful and it seems like just another of many comic relief zones in the game, but... I can't help but feel this weird feeling of hollowness and a bit of melancholy. This place is located in Area 3, the final area in the game, and all zones there are REALLY weird, full of Joy mutants, just chaos and death everywhere... But this zone, appearently?
To this happy song you will find the beloved Salvation Rangers all dead/Joyified, a weird mutant that will explode its head on you, and on Pain mode, even the funny guy Hawk converted into just another Joy monster. This game transitions between "haha lol" and "man..." EXTREMELY fast, but this area feels different somehow.
Maybe it's just me, but this area creeps me out a lot

I made my friend play through this recently.
He was delighted, haunted, laughed, and cried.
We played through Undertale together as well and for each playthrough I VA'd every single character.
Undertale was one of our favorite experiences as friends.
I cannot stress enough how high of a bar that was.
Lisa without a doubt replaced that 100 fold. We laughed harder, cried longer, and formed more inside jokes than any game before or since.

this is my favorite track in the game! whenever it plays, it feels exactly like the end of a happy time. like all the other comments are saying, it's particularly fitting with how it plays during the last bit of comic relief.

i didn't really paid all that much thought to this track the first time i heard it ,nor did it feel any different the third or fifth time ,though lately i find myself whistling the tune of it especially when i feel aimless in life & then a smile creeps up onto my lips somehow lol

This music sounds so carefree, cheerful, and depressive at the same time. Being played in one of the last zones of the game makes me think of Brad almost reaching his goal. After all the shit he has been through it's like taking a moment to breathe and calm down, making the idea that everything will eventually be OK. The difficult misadventure will finally be over once he has found Buddy; wanting to cry out loud "I did it... I FUCKING DID IT!", making every single scar worth the search

people always says this is the last "cheerful" part of the game, but honestly for me, its one of the areas with the creepiest vibes-
but i just can't really touch it why...
I'd say its the sheer casual-ness of all the slapstick that makes it off-putting. Yeah theres weirdness and slapstick in other parts of Olathe, but not "Rube Goldberg Seesaw Guys Into Windows" levels of weird.
And then of course this area is where you see the fate of the Salvation Rangers (and Hawk Hollywood if you're playing Pain Mode), so the music is just *really* rubbing it in.

LISA: The Painful is the 2nd game in the 3 game series although it’s known as the “main” game
Backstory:
Brad (the one laying down) was abused by his father as a child as well as his younger sister Lisa.
Lisa ended up self-passing away from the abuse which left Brad really depressed.
As Brad grew up he felt responsible for Lisa’s death.
He also created a martial arts club where he learnt to fight and taught other people.
Now for the story of Lisa: The Painful
One day there was a bright flash which caused all the women to disappear which caused the world to fall into chaos and become a wasteland. The main character Brad is out one day and finds a baby which he checks and finds out it’s a girl. He then takes the baby home and looks after her while she grows up and believes her to be a way to redeem himself after not helping his sister Lisa when he was younger. He also names the child “Buddy” as he calls her “His little buddy”. He also doesn’t like being called Dad.
Since she’s the only girl alive, Brad is extremely overprotective of Buddy keeping her indoors as much as possible and making her wear a mask if they do go outside.
One day Buddy gets kidnapped by someone named Rando (One of the main antagonists) and Brad goes to find buddy.
Due to there not being any females, the men are mostly perverts and exchange inappropriate magazines as currency (known as mags in the game) and well as being like a wasteland would be with groups and army’s n stuff and lastly the people who are depressed from losing their loved ones.
To cope with this sadness they take a drug called “Joy” which makes you happy and feel a lot better than normal although it has very strong side effects after even taking a single Pill you will eventually become what is know as a “Joy Mutant” (which is what that guy on the right is). As a Joy Mutant you have no control over yourself and almost always get very violent tendencies murdering anyone and anything around you.
Now onto the main point
There is a group called the Salvation Rangers which are basically an apocalyptic version of the power rangers where they role play with each other to keep everyone sane.
They’re basically the comic-relief characters who you see multiple times throughout the game.
Towards the end of the game there is a construction site looking area which contains the Salvation Rangers however, due to taking Joy, they almost all became Joy Mutants (except Black who was ripped in half by the Blue Ranger Joy Mutant however there were Joy Mutant sprites for The Black Ranger however they’re unused and Beige and Yellow who are laying on top of the Red Rangers mutated body. The Green Ranger is unable to be found but can be found around the middle of the 3rd game Lisa: The Joyful and the Pink Ranger who left the group around the 2nd or 3rd time you meet them iirc.)
This song is kind of disturbing when you realise the only comic-relief characters are dead which is also the part when the game gets a lot darker than it already is.
This song also plays when you find another boss on “Pain Mode” which is normally just a normal human however is instead a Joy Mutant with a very long neck called “Hawk”
