I really don't understand the awfull comments about Nicolas Cage in this film, Nicolas was so moving and adorable in valley girl, he was the essence of a beautiful sensitive teenager who desperatly falls in love for the first time and the film really managed to capture all the emotions that a teenager can have when he deeply falls in love. The love at first sight, the courtship, the excitement to be in love, the pleasure to share everything with your love, in that sense the choice of the songs in each scene really fit their sate of mind, the evolution of their love, from " you've got the eyes of a stranger" when they meet to " I stop the world and melt with you", Also the pain that Randy feels when Julie breaks up with him is very well made in the film, we can physically feel his despair, when he drowns his sorrows in alcohol and choose to relieve his pain in the arms of an ex girlfriend. This film is definitely a jewel to see from beginning to end and I will never understand all the bad reviews I have read about this wonderful movie....
+Genevieve Raaijmakers Agreed . . . this is becoming a forgotten gem. This movie, like 16 Candles, and a handful of others, perfectly captures the essence of the 80s . . . The writing, acting and directing are fantastic . . . and the soundtrack . . . one of the best every created!
+Genevieve Raaijmakers They're just hating on Nic; it probably has more to do with him now, than him then. You know how people are. But anyhoo....this was an awesome movie and he was awesome in it. And gorgeous
Nic Cage was literally in his peak in this movie as far as hotness! Perhaps, it's the punk style that suited him so much and the hair but this look WAS the look for him. It's funny to think around this time he probably was roommates with Johnny Depp and trying to help him get gigs too. Two kind souls. This movie really hits close to me as I was preppy-ish as a teenager and my husband was the punk-ish one when we met. We've so happy 16 years and counting.
Nic Cage = Hot! ❤️🔥 I can’t get enough of him in this movie - he lights up the screen in every scene - he’s completely sweet & adorable, his eyes are hypnotic & what a kisser! - totally! 😍
Valley Girl was the best of its genre. Not many saw it, but the critics loved it- for what that's worth. I can recite most of the lines from beginning to end, 34 years later.
julie miller As a guy who grew up in the 90’s, I’d have to agree with you! Don’t get me wrong, we had one hell of a time doing many of the things you did in the 60’s (I.e., pot and acid), but damn! To be able to have seen Hendrix, the Doors, Zeppelin, Floyd, and many others live, would have been unbelievable! But hey, at least we didn’t have to come of age when everyone has a video camera on them and spend more time looking at screens instead of actual social interaction!
Still my all time favorite guilty pleasure movie! I graduated from high school in '83 and even though I was on the east coast and not west this movie and sountrack were major players in our pop culture that year.
this launched his career. he was a highly paid movie star after this, never making under 2M per movie after this. Even back then. Every subsequent movie was a box-office hit with him, it was amazing.
+Eliza Gonzalez Last I heard this movie ended up marrying "The Last American Virgin" movie they ended up having three little movies that went straight to DVD
I think that Nicolas Cage as Randy is one of the most sexiest no excuse me is the most sexiest on screen actor that I've ever seen in my life he touched me in ways that I can't even explain every time that I see a picture of him or watch the movie from this time I absolutely feel the way that I did as a 15 16 year old girl.. the chemistry that they have is totally amazing people that don't think that Nicolas Cage should have had this part you're completely silly. Nicolas Cage now a days that's a different story he's kind of weird off the hook different unique still like him as an actor ,but not as much as I do in this film. The music with this film combined is absolutely moving still to this day in 2018 thank you to all the actors all the musicians the director everyone that ever had anything to do with this film I pause and I bow to you Bravo...
In my world Julie was the most beautiful women in the world. Around this time in my life, I met, fell in love with a women who looked like Julie. Watching this Clips brings back so many great memories. I thank God that I was blesse to have experienced that kind of young rumantik love atleast once in my life
Deborah explained in an interview years later, she had feelings for nick cage, after shooting finished, her and nick went to San Francisco together for a couple of days, when they got back, they both decided to go there separate ways, up until 2022 they still haven't been in touch with one another, but Deborah still has very strong feelings for nick, she explained, she was stunning in valley girl, and still is stunning 😍
@rabeckjr It actually is Nicolas Cage....he was using his real name at the time Nick Coppolla. He is related to Francis Ford Coppolla and decided to change his name to Cage so he could get acting jobs on his own and not because of his relationship to Francis Ford Coppolla. :)
had to watch it again....same effect----great job! I knew a girl in college that looked just like Debbie forman in that movie and it was 1982-83 too. We had a great romance! Wow! You captured it--the movie and the romance in your video!!! (..and you could not have chosen two better songs for it!) THANKS! Great, Great Job!
My All Time Favorite Movie with the Super Talented Peter Case & The Plimsouls ! You Can't Get Any Better than That ! Only - He Should of Taken Randy's Place & Had Two Parts in that Movie ! This is My Own Personal Taste ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
very cool...i never watched movies too much but i like this 80"s stuff... mostly good memories for me....ventura blvd shots i think? used to live near van nuys and ventura. nice post brother
I believe you can find this entire movie on YT for free. It may be in parts though. Another great movie from this era is "TImes Square" I have seen it often here on YT. I have this movie on VHS still...LOL
The director had him shave most of it for the movie. She said it made him look too old. In a total young punk move, he shaved it in a v pattern. (Learned this recently from an interview with Deborah Foreman, thanks to the algorithm.)
I come back to watch this from time to time to let the smile grow across my face as the nostalgia envelops me. I'm so glad I grew up in the 80s.

I totally agree with your description of Nic Cage during this time. Irresistible! The punk style suits him best.
Nic Cage = Hot! ❤️🔥 I can’t get enough of him in this movie - he lights up the screen in every scene - he’s completely sweet & adorable, his eyes are hypnotic & what a kisser! - totally! 😍

What's the song in the scene when Nic Cage was driving the two girls to the city after they ditched the party?
Nice effort.
@GhostOfBugsy It was the prom for the junior class.

The first one. lol
I'm still blown away that Tommy is Todd's uncle Jack in Breaking Bad. You can see him at 5:55.
Hoooooly shit! The years were rough on him. He became a much better actor, though.
It was her friends. They wanted Julie to get back 2gether with Tommy
It was always nice when a pretty girl gave you that look. Phoebe Cates or Deborah Foreman?
Foreman!!!
was anyone else as weirded out by Nicholas Cage's chest hair pattern? it bothered me for years...
emma duncan lolz! Yes n.I.didn't even know it til you said it!
emma duncan ok that is the only thing wrong in the movie
The director had him shave most of it for the movie. She said it made him look too old. In a total young punk move, he shaved it in a v pattern. (Learned this recently from an interview with Deborah Foreman, thanks to the algorithm.)
Valley High "Jr" Prom?? WTF?
