I feel privileged to have had my childhood in the 80's
@Forgetmenot I was born in 77, so basically the same stuff. Great days! 👍✌️
Me too.
Me too... 🧡
Lucky you 😎👍
Me too!😊
I´m convinced that the 80´s need to be desperately taught as a compulsory subject all our schools today.
sign me up
Great idea.
God id love to be the teacher teaching that subject. The 80s had great movies and had even better music and im 38(born in 83)so i wasnt a teenage kid in the 80s. I miss you 80s.
I agree!!!!!!!!!!!! Well said!!!!!!!
@sid g
Why offenended? Was it that bad?
If you were not there living it, you cannot truly understand how magical and awesome the 80s were. No era even comes close.
I’m Laughing not true, other then Nam the 60’s rocked , and other than Nam the 70’s really rocked.
@@carriesweeney1277 Youre clueless. The 60s had hippies and a war and the 70s had the war and Jimmy freakin Carter.
WHile a lot of the 70s pop culture was cool its doesnt compare to the 80s.
I lived as a teen in the late 60s. Not too shabby of an era. ☮️
Everyone who was born in different era say the same because of memories, childhood, friends,be in love, heartache ,be young
I can
I was 16 and on a date, 1989, this song and the first kiss....absolutely magic
Cute
I needed to hear that...thanks! ;)
Love it!
I was born in 1976 and grew up in the GOLD age of this world, the 80’s and 90’s.
Me too ☺️
Same here!! 🙋🏻♀️
Same. 1978.
ish
How i wish i was born in this era... it got the best movies, best music, courtship was old fashioned, life wasnt too complicated ...
If you want it, make it happen!
It was great, speaking as an 80's kid. It was simple, and straight forward, things seemed more real, more fun...... life now is so strange, so complicated, so divided. People fight on social media about everything and anything, everything is an 'outage' , everyone has to pick a side.
The blow was great and life was just fun dancing every night of the week
The 80s, which were mostly conservative, was a bounceback from the problems created by the late 60s and 70s. I can only hope that on the other side of this leftist, politically correct, SJW nightmare we're all living through, young people will get a shot at their own 80s.
@@daveygivens735 I like the thought, lets hope.
I say it all the time, I miss the 80s. For me, it was a decade of high school and college. People talked to each other while looking them in the eyes. One didn't even have to know that person. We were so much more communicable, and caring for the people around us. We were optimistic for the future and we had respect for our parents and those in authority. The music and movies were the best. The big hair and colorful apparel just added to that decade's appeal. Be well and be blessed.
I thought this
movie was a realistic
story of first love.
Cusack killed it.
Yeah except where they end up together...
Not so realistic there...
Yes, indeed. Cusack was great!
I thought Ione Skye nailed it too. One of my favorite movies of all time
@@jfmc2581 don't be so cynical I thought it was a great ending, not unlike Good Will Hunting 👍😀💃
@@phenomanon4028 She's probably married to a banker, and running
her own beauty 💇 now.
A much simpler time when everything was real and meant something to me. I absolutely hate where we are as a people now.
Me too. 😔 Wish we could go back in time... If only....
💯
agreed!
Yes things were great..I agree...People kept their word...
Social Media is a cancer, delete it.🇦🇺
I am 20 years old and I think this is one of the best teen romance movie. Now-a-days movies are so bland like they are forced to do them.
The 80's were incredible with songs like this on MTV and the radio, no other decade has produced so many unique songs that touch the soul and pull on your heart strings, for those who grew up with songs like this, we were damn lucky!
Yes!!!!
Yes, I was there too. 😊
Video killed the radio star
as an old 48 year old...... the 80s had such passion, originality and the ability to literally rip your heart apart..... fills my heart..
best decade , I was 15 in 1980 , perfect for taking it all in
Great movie that helped mold my adolescents. I miss the 80s. Life was simple. No social media and coronavirus free.
said on social media probably while coughing covid particles in the air.
No cellphones!! I was in high school during this lol
Jesus Christ , *adolescence
@Michael Moretti Exactely. Live is always complicated. When your hear someone say or write 'life was simple', it's complete bullshit
The huge difference in have definitely observed in behavior today and back when I grew up... These days , I suppose BC behind a Screen of a Laptop or Tablet, ppl really try to tear into others, I grew up in the 80s, emotions were not stigmatized, polarized. it's like the average oerso today is do scared to sjow authentic Human Emotions.. For instance email on INSTAGRAM, I EMOTES to someone AND INSTAGRAM JUST STRAIGHT UP DELETES ALL OF MY COMMENTS. .. that is not tighy!
Trust the Gunther Spread Hatred Symbols of Hate Factions.. SYMBOLS VIA TWITTER ND THEY SUSPEND HIS TWITTER GORDON A SOLID HOUR!!!
That's up there with GEORGE FLOYD'S MURDER BEING GIVEN A MEAL FROM BURGER KING FOLLOWING HIS ARREST....
I WISH OUR DOJ WAS NOT SO DAMN DELAPIDATED as it has become. THIs INSTITUTION the DOJ was initiated out of the need to protect MINORITY nd marginalized POPULATIONS FROM HATE CRIMES....
My generation was full of love, real friendships. WE WATCHED SHOWS LIKE THE CARE BESRS, WINNIE THE POOH, THE NEVERENDING STORY, WE PLAYED WITH HUGGABLE HAVE FOLKS, LOL
IN THE 80S ND 90'S THE MUSIC WAS BEUTIFUL.
THE NEW ROMANTICS, NEW WAVE, BRITISH INVASION IN MUSIC.
I HOLD MY MEMORIES CLOSE CLOSE CLOSE TO MY HEART Ppl, Community involvement,
MUSIC, ART, CREATIVITY AND SELF EXPRESSION IS WHAT IT'S ALL BOUT FOR me ultimately !!!
I still have friends in my life, I have literally had relationships with for over 30 plus yrs!
'I gave her my heart and she gave me a pen'😭😭
I LOVE THIS MOVIE AN THE END IS SPECTICULAR
During the Decade of The Romantic Comedy and Perfect Music to Make it all go together.
We'd be liars if we said we've never felt that
I wish I could thumbs up your comment a thousand times. This makes me cry every time I watch it. I am a 54 year old man and I cry like a child. One of the best scenes in movie history in my opinion.
That was the best
I was 8 when this came out. I had the poster of John Cusack holding the boombox. At 8, I desperately wanted a guy to do this for me. At 36, I'm still waiting. The most romantic thing I can think of. John Cusack has been my crush since then❤❤
Kids today call it stalking.
John Cusack is now and will always be my teenage crush!
Still crushing on John Cusack all these years later, I always loved this song
I miss John Cusack. He was such a wonderful actor with a face that could show both apathy and genuine love at the same time. He didn't have a long list of movie credits, but the movies I saw that he was in were all quality. This was my favorite movie that he starred in. This character was so awesome. The "loser" or the "unaccepted" or the "not good enough" yet the one who would love HER with a pure heart. The one that she really "needed" more so than any who might be "better". Well done, Mr. Cusack. Hollywood has gone downhill, because people have forgotten the classic beauty and quality of movies like this and The Breakfast Club. John Cusack and John Hughes were one of a kind.
I miss the eighties so much I can barely take it!!!!😭
Agree!
For real. When else in human history could you enjoy a big mac AND a marborlo indoors without being scoffed at.
Me too!! 80"s was the best!!
Hell yea! Smoking in public, cocaine, sequin jackets n shit. Good fuckin times
Same here
Class of 86 & proud to have had such memorable times. No politics, no cell phones, no hate, just great times!
One of my favorite films from the eighties. Another timeless classic!
Indeed so. Timeless:)
mine too:))😀
Top 5 for me.
If you saw the movie "Say Anything",
you could never forget the scene, where
John Cusack holds the boom-box over
his head, and "Your Eyes" plays.
Charles Woolley sadly not enough people with depth, appreciation of music art beauty, love the ocean,a child's laughter, each other. We could use more Lloyd Doblers
Oh yeah!!! I forgot that part
Yeah I'm that old, LoL
What was considered the epitome of romance in the 80's would be considered "weird" in today's world and likely get you in trouble. The world has changed. I'm not sure all the changes are always for the better.
Dude Charles anyone-anyone can name off that scene. Before I saw the movie I knew that scene and I could name the movie it’s such a famous scene I own a copy of the movie I fell hard for Lloyd dobler especially that scene yes When this song comes on the radio that legendary “boom box scene” comes to mind. Absolutely-
"Are you here because you need someone, or because you need me? Forget it, it doesn't matter." Selfless sacrifice. Willing to give up ones own happiness to be there for another, even if it means they will only get crushed again in the end.
Best 80s movie involving the first young love ever!!!! The love, The excitement, The expectation, The yearning, The belief the anything is possible, and the pain/tears of what is lost. That feeling you get deep down in your heart and your stomach that stays with you as a standard of what true love is all about.
As I am getting older I am so thankful to be born in 80s and experience this world full decade before phones and technology took away human interaction.
The 80s Had the best movies.
ou can sa that again
No absurd laser beams fights every 20 minutes. No commercially driven "shared universes". No trying to replace character, plot and the human condition with CGI. They were better times for cinema, that's for sure. Very sad to say, but to paraphrase Anthony Mackie, a movie like _Say Anything_ just wouldn't get made today.
@@waynebermudezbermudez4615 y not
And the 90s
And the 90s x 2
Peter Gabriel really defined "the 80's sound" with this song, you can hear that same beat replicated in so many films.
it was impossible not to fall in love with Ione Skye. And after 30 something years, i bet you look at this video and still holds your heart captive. She is so beyond any starlet from this era its ridiculous
l.e.molina1298 . . . 👍 Could NOT of said it Better myself 😊
She shook me to the core in this movie. I can't help but be moved by it.
God. Bless. John. Cusack. One of the greatest. Actors. Of the 1980s. And don't forget Molly ringwald
Breakfast Club 💓💓
The 80’s poor people had a little money and everything was simple and almost pure. I graduated high school in 1987. I am a true 80’s child. It’s was simply simple and yet very profound. The Breakfast Club is my favorite movie.
The eighties were a blast! Graduated in 1982. Such great music at the clubs. Greatest bands were only like $20 bucks. Drove to Hollywood and ate breakfast at Denny’s after the concerts. Great memories. My kids are jealous I grew up in those days. I have got them hooked on the music.😀
Yep. The Roxy and whisky a gogo
Everybody was talking about In Your Eyes in 1989, but in my opinion this is the best song of the movie.
Hats off for Peter Gabriel!
Shame we grow old. JohnvCusack did so many good movies of the 80s. We had in my view the best music, movies, cars, entertainment of the time. Shame his career gone down. Great actor.
I watched this movie for the first time today and I fell in love completly,John Cucsak is the best actor from the 80's and this music is perfect!
I’m glad to hear that it’s a classic one of my favorites
miss the 80'S ANYONE ELSE
We all miss them

Ehhh idk. That’s usually in most cases never what any woman actually wants. Y’all mostly end up going for what’s on the surface
@@rsscarr Yeah, that's true mate, most women want the bad boy.🇦🇺👍
I wonder if they stayed together? Love that film and the song that will forever remind me of my first love. I found out he had died recently and despite 30 years of not seeing or speaking to him I cried a great deal and played this and hoped his llfe had been happy. The eighties were the best.
“What I really want to do with my life, what I want to do for a living, is I want to be with your daughter. I'm good at it.”
😳🤣🤣🤣🤣love to see someone say that to my husband about one of our daughters🤣
love that too...
Peter Gabriel is s musical genius. This song is imprinted in my mind and reminds me of my children.
I was privileged to have had all my teen years in the 80's ,how I miss that time.
From the deepest place of my heart:"Y E S!" and thousend, no millions ones more moments to watch this monumental movie, which was able to discripe perfectly our emotions and lifestyle of 80th
I graduated in 85. I remember the beginning of then1980s when the shift happened, it was a turning of a corner event the influenced all of us youngsters to come into who we needed to be. The music was so awsome not to mention to experience of the times. I would go back in a minute!
Im now 58 and indeed the 80s were best era in many ways ! Even my son admits it now , you guys were so lucky 😎😎😎

Lloyd Dobbler was my first ever movie crush 🖤 such a great movie
This Movie . . . "Say Anything" . . . & "Some Kind of Wonderful" . . . 2 JUST AWESOME movies that define 1980s teen life
It's Loyd Dobbler dude!! Greatest movie ever made. Thank you God for making me a teenager in the 80s. Privileged and blessed🩷🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I'm honored to be a part of this beautiful act of coming into young adulthood back when it was just special...unlike today
Thank God I was a teenager when the 80s were rocking.
You are truly right Debra I miss those year's and the music.

Highly recommended movie.
Love this movie. So happy that I found my own Lloyd Dobler. Girls, find you a good man who will love you like this. Who will kick the glass out of the way so you don’t step on it. Guys, find you a good girl. They’re out there.
so cute, can you tell me about you two some stories? Id love to hear some
The 80s were amazing. I would gladly go back and re-live those years if I could.

N o remakes please. This movie is a classic
Yes please no remake!
I saw an interview where she said that was such a hard scene for her, laying in the bed, reacting to the song. It is a true classic . And he was reluctant to do the movie and I think it's the best of all
@@phenomanon4028 agreed they already redid dirty dancing which it was a total fuck up total epic fail When somethings wonderful the way it is don’t fuck with it
abolutely you can not beat its origninality
Don't forget John Cusack's "Gross Pointe Blank".
When I first met my wife I drove a 1977 Chevrolet Malibu Classic and it was the very same color as the one in this movie.
She still reminds me of that after being married for 32 years.
"Ditched in the Malibu!"
I can’t decide if this is my favorite movie of the 80’s
Or maybe it’s Some kind of wonderful?
Anyone?
You are my new best friend lol. Both are great movies. I love Say Anything and how he feels for her. SKOW is perfect because Keith didn't want to see what was in front of him. Amanda Jones was perfect to him but Watts loved him. The "you break his heart, I'll break your face" did it for me. It's a great movie and I wish someone like Watts felt the same about me❤❤❤
This is still my favorite movie of the 80's
It’s hard and somewhat very sad to watch this. It’s just that raw passion when you are utterly and totally in absolute love with someone. That one of a kind feeling of giving your whole self, faults and all, to another person and being accepted and loved in return... It almost doesn’t exist anymore.
I did and the LOOSER divorced me for no reason after 17 years....He was cheating the whole time.
Dam..I gave him my complete trust abd two daughters.
I PRAY TO JESUS HE REAPS WHAT HE SOWS.
no it does not exist and it does not last...
This movie and song are one of my favorites. I can actually close my eyes and transport myself back to the 80’s with this song and movie. 80’s, we simply were just trying to navigate through teenage life and trying to figure it out.
For my "Little innocent girl" 3 months now. I miss you so much. This is your song. Very thankful for it.

It was a better time and not just because we were younger then! The world seemed a happier place for most!
One of the best movies!!! ❤️. I was about 8 or 9 then. I love John Cusack and have followed him ever since. He and his sister Joan are still relevant.
We all know that the 8 D cell batteries in that boom box wouldn't have lasted this entire song.
Makes me want to see this show again
Truly appreciate the friendships and I love the way this time in my life made me feel. Epic.
Oh John Mahoney... rest in peace Crane....
I love this song from a film that could almost have been my uni days,I miss you so much Catherine
Tears...again. if I could hold that moment in time forever. I do hold that time in my arms and my heart. And, one day, we will all be gone and no one else will know what we experienced until they get to heaven and see it replayed for them. It was amazing for us. But, then again, so were many other times for many other young people in their eras.
