Hey man I love your work. We have the same personalities types. Very interesting. Love the way you articulate, spread great knowledge, and wisdom.
Dude talk about the Exxon Exposed story. That's the real news.
Don't forget the story of Lilith as well Adam's original Eve.
Such a guide you have became...this was a beaut!!!

Russel's capacity to listen with the intention of understanding is both visible, and palpable.
He has grown up beautifully.
I noticed this too in his interview with Yeonmi Park - which I'd recommend if you haven't seen it.
Been listening to peterson and him lots recently. Peterson said a good thing : listen to people when they talk, ask them things -have time for them. You may learn something , appreciate them more and they'll respect and honour you back for hearing them too. Russel has got this so well. I try to be conscious and do this as much as I can now.
As yours must be to have recognised, good sir.

The world would be in a better place if todays difficult topics were discussed in this respectful way instead of the censorship and name calling we have
@Entity Water I agree,I don’t regard this conversation as one of those difficult topics we need to have
What's the cause that discussions are not held in this way?
And tendencies across politics to stereotype. We must rise above that tendency in human nature. Seek understanding of the individual, try to know their character at least before criticizing. Civil, honest discourse leads to a civil outcome that respects all parties, and all parties should be able to respect.
Where most people I know started to have a problem was when some on the Left decided to start targeting children with concepts they aren't ready for.
@@AvadoNMod ...i'm guessing: every entity or individual feeling threatened in its objective or in its safety?
Straight aggressivity coming from that perception...
I've watched extensive videos on marital arrangements in the New-York Hassidic world recently, each video dripping in admirative comments right below, and I witnessed a well justified angry Muslim viewer who was asking why it was ok with westerners to have Jewish confine women to "wanting to lean on men" an confine men to "wanting to lead and provide".. while it is unthinkable to express the same without receiving a vitriolic response as a Muslim.
My spontaneous answer is simple. No one fears being altered by the Hassidic group.
@@AvadoNMod What's your take?
I have come to respect Russell Brand immensely. He's an honest thinker, and has become an important voice in the discussions we MUST have in a civil society.
Yes I agree. He is an honest thinker.
Yes I agree. He is an honest thinker.
He's gonna be the great "middle" ...he's trying to understand. That's definitely more than most.
Well said.
Yep... He has a geninine pursuit of knowledge... And best of intentions... Love him.
"I made it up. It's a good idea though isn't it?" Russel reminds me of the children I take care of at daycare, when they want to show me something they're really proud of 😂💗 to see that spirit in an adult man was kind of wholesome
Because he never had a father figure growing up, I’m not surprised to see him asking that to Jordan Peterson
@@leonrothier6638 It was just a passing remark at the face of it, and you're obviously not a psychologist, no matter how much info you have on his past. xD
To the original comment, though, I do think there is a lot of value to that childlike spirit especially bc I think most men have it, but we obviously suppress it in a variety of ways and for many reasons lol. I'm kinda immature so the urge of seeking approval and etc occurs to me a lot, no matter how subtle. I wish we accepted wholesomeness and the like more often, since without it male interactions feel very on-edge and overly serious half the time for me
@@leonrothier6638 I think Brand is smarter than Peterson. Who is indulging who? Peterson represents a stodgy, slow moving institutional understanding of human psychology.. Brand is not so constrained, and is broader "bandwidth" than Peterson. I think Peterson presumes he is the "teacher" in the scenario, but I find Brand to be far more insightful and encompassing in his views.
@@leonrothier6638 Well, his father might not have been present daily, but he did have a weird relationship with him. As he talks about in his stand up, as a teenager in his middle teenage years, his dad brought him on holiday (Amsterdam or Thailand, I forget) and took him to prostitutes. That's an odd relationship
That was so sweet!
*“Masculinity isn’t toxic. The absence of it is. Weak men are abusive and spiteful. Strong, masculine men are protective and loving.”* I love this quote. its message rings true.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
define masculinity, once you do that you're automatically wrong because it's an opinion, the Spartans were strong and masculine yet were equal to the soviets
Thank you 🙏
I think so too, maybe. But why is a "masculine men" protective? Loving is not exclusive to anybody and that includes "weak" and "strong" men. But why are "strong men" protective?
In my understanding, if you're strong, you have trust. And if you trust, you don't need to protect anybody, because you trust them to protect themselves. If you're "strong", you're also capable. So why is it that you, the "strong" one, in need of protecting, if you trust and believe in the capability of others.
This implies that other people are weak because they need protection.
So... I don't think this quote is exactly what it wants to be. I'm honestly confused.
@@DimitriMoreira the mental gymnastics on this one are strong.
I love the interviews where Jordan is relaxed and knows that he's not being attacked
They should all be like that. You want to understand someone, ask good faith questions.
He also “buzz’s off” a youthful intellect like brands

Russell does an amazing job of humanizing people.
jus avin an ol thinkabout
Russell's point about dietifying the feminine through consumerism/marketing is damn good.
What did he say
Really enjoy these ACTUAL conversations. Noone is yelling or chest thumping, just calm, rational discussion. It's really a breath of fresh air.
"Whatcha reckon??" Immediately followed by "I made it up" is both hilarious and also very commendable to be honest. To many folks spouting off smart "sounding" bullshit trying to pass it off as something profound.
Russell may very well have a great point. But he admits immediately that it might be rubbish and he only means to pick it apart with someone else to see if the idea holds water.
Bravo.
I would tend to agree with his idea. 😉
J.P never had his "watcha reckon??" voice followed up by a "I made it up" when writing his books
@@ag-ch5vp well Russel's not exactly writing a book right now. He's a free flow kinda guy and Jordan Peterson is the kind of guy to not be so random, but speak and center everything with attention. Just two different styles
It's a great interview technique, but an abysmal argument technique.
Chris YaBoi. You hit it squarely on the hard nail. Bravo!
Be masculine to protect and establish peace not to have authority over any one
@Renata Rosa be masculine to take responsibility, authority, leadership and protect, love and care for your own kind.

If you take authority over your reality you can create a great life by yourself.
Wow, hearing these two converse is in a way somehow very cathartic.
It was! It gives hope that we can someday get back to exploring and sharing substantial ideas this way. Guess that's why I've been watching the old Dick Cavett episodes on YT! He was such a natural interviewer and had the most fascinating guests. (And all in a time when people truly allowed one another to speak and be heard)
And baffling at times 🤪
Two very smart people picking each other's brains. LOVE that.
I adore the fact that Peterson will not shoot down an idea or jump on the idea and say it’s great but say it’s an idea worth thinking about for a long time.
He is the complete opposite of Twitter.
basically the opposite of nearly all modern thinking
My grandfather use to tell me that people today don't have conversations and that I should learn to lissen.
I adore how colossally full of shit he is.
@GeLow Brando Policing masculinity to keep feminization at bay strikes me as the height of pussification. But ok.
@@GrantLeeEdwards Nobody really does that. You forcing the "respect women" narrative on me and me voicing my annoyance of it isn't oppressing femininity, it's oppressing totalitarian mob thinking and silencing of free will. If you think me doing "masculine" things somehow lessens the image of femininity, that's a you problem in the mental department, not me...I could care less, let me be and STFU.
The way Russell said “it’s a good idea though?” To Jordan was like son to father. Love Russell he’s got me through this strange period x

Russell I could never express how much I love the path you’re on. Absolutely jaw dropping to watch a conversation between to wonderful minds about “what” is right instead of “who” is right.
The thing I can't stand about Peterson is that he misrepresents history. Communism wasn't really that popular until the nations of Europe plunged their populations into World War 1, causing Mass death, famine and exacerbating the Spanish flu pandemic. When capitalism gets out of control, it causes communism to happen. I'm not endorsing either system- I'm just explaining that one is caused by the other. Moreover, communist governments mostly kill people in their own countries, whereas capitalist governments have done it mostly in other people's countries. Stalin killed millions in Russia, Ukraine and Poland. Anti-communist Nazi Germany also killed millions in Russia, Ukraine and Poland. My dad walked over fields of corpses in Vietnam. We committed a genocide there because we said that they don't have the right to be communists, even in their own country. So we went there and killed millions of people, spraying agent orange and poisoning generations to come. Go look at the photos of the baby sometimes, but don't do it before you have to eat anything.
@@theciakilledjfk5973
I'm not sure you made a valid point as to why peterson misrepresented history? I'm not saying you are wrong but your argument seems to be vague.
Peterson & Brand. Two beacons of light in an era of darkness.
There is definitely healthy masculinity. People capable of great strength, but want to use it for good. Don’t overthink it. God is Love. When your actions are done out of love for people, even people that don’t return the favor, your purpose will be profound.

I love hearing how deep the conversations with Jordan B. Their deep and healthy authentic discussions, dissections, and debates without politicization.
I adore Jordan Peterson. I started watching him about three years ago, at 42, when I was both having something like a spiritual awakening and rebuilding my life as a sober person. I wasn't exactly paying attention to the rest of the world because my personal life was in shambles, and being rock bottom set me up for tough lessons. He spoke my language. I had been a 'victim' all of my life and precisely what he said here, I needed to encourage my own masculine side. Anyway, just the anecdotal experience of one woman. Peterson doesn't coddle but I've seen him speak and can feel his genuine love and concern.
Jordan is a beacon of light in a dark world.
Me too! Same age, same situation and sober now! I am so grateful for my recovery and I’m grateful to have gone through that and I’m happy just for today.
I’m so glad you feel like this. All the women in my life (mother, mother in law, wife etc) despise him and think he’s radicalizing young men and always concerned with me that I read his books and sometimes watch the podcasts. I’m like wtf is going on

Russell talking to Jordan and having these great authentic conversations always gives way to extremely interesting insights. These chats are a pleasure to watch/listen to.
I am a woman and I’ve lived a very difficult life so as a result of that I had to develop a lot of masculinity but right now I am in a beautiful space in my life where I am finally mostly in my feminine energy and can switch on my masculine when I see necessary.
My boyfriend also had a difficult upbringing but that has made him very loving and sweet but lost touch with his ‘get go’ mode. It was many difficult conversations to make him see that masculinity is not being expressed, I am stressed at times because he’s so chilled out and I take on way too much responsibility like I said he’s the sweetest boy in the world and would do anything for me so he’s realising it slowly. I feel so blessed to live my life with him ♥️
It's great that you're having the conversations. It'll benefit him more in the long run to be balanced in his healthy masculine energy rather than operating in his feminine too much. Hope you both enjoy many loving years together!

When I had my babies, I was raising children. Now that they're children, I'm raising adults. If I spend 18yrs raising children then I'm not doing what's best for them.

Your last video with Jordan really helped me in an area I was struggling with. It was emotionally disturbing to me. In a very positive manner. How to be moral and also not cast it aside in my employment. When Jordan mentioned how much more reward do you need than knowing someone has benefited from something you shared. I loved this! I've navigated between all sorts of different ideologies and couldn't ever quite find the answers I needed. Neutral discussions like these are so great for exploring new ideas. I've always had issues with the patriarchy, but couldn't entirely support the misandrist attitude many feminist movements usually carry with them. Extreme femininity and total rejection of the masculine can also be detrimental to people's well being, I know this first hand as an abuse survivor who grew up with a crazy borderline mother. We need to learn to embrace the positive aspects of masculinity and feminity and reject the toxic ones. There always needs to be a balance between these two "energies" in all of us, as both can spiral out of control.
Oh God, same. The feminist movement has great ideas, of course, but not only a lot of those who are part of it are misandrists, also the movement has left out women of color and focused on white women for so long.

Understanding of these energies to each individual is necessary to balance and here you and Jordan are making it happen!¡! Thank You, Mahalo and Faafetai Tele Lava for the Honest Pursuit of Truth🙏
yes Yin and Yang.
This is such a cool conversation to watch and listen to. Thanks Russell!
Thank you for this Russell. I feel like I'm growing older and wiser with you and I love you for it. I'm far beyond this now but it's still invaluable which is a testament to it's importance. Thank you
There’s a great book by Robert Bly called: Iron John that covers this beautifully,
Brilliant book.
@@seanoreilly915 right? Every guy should read it a few times! Once in the teen years and once as a grown man. Women can learn a lot from it, too. I know I sure did! What was your fave takeaway?
I'd like to propose that it could also be the refusal to see the feminine side of the masculine dominated energy. At the beginning you spoke of it being overbearing parents and by end,the all consuming mother, "feminine". Could then the distortion of masculine energy be because of the distortion of it's feminine energy or the denial of it. Jung theorized this as the anime, masculine, animus, feminine, and your shadow self if dominantly masculine being it's feminine energy. I've found with my own growth that your relationship with self has alot to do with your relationship between your masculine and feminine in you.
wow, ladies and gentlemen, this is what a truly intellectual conversation looks like between two great thinkers! how rear to hear a conversation like this anywhere these days!
Two awesome humans having a meaningful conversation, lovely on the ears.
