    Great Video! You helped me determine that my heat gun wasn't worth fixing with my poor soldering skills. I was hoping it was the switch, but I had broken coils also and the switch was good. Thanks for the information.

      glad the video helped you out - even though I fixed it, its really not worth fixing a $9 heat gun... but it was interesting to track down the issue - Thanks for subscribing!

    Thanks for the info!! I've gone through 2 of these exact guns in a year now. I was interested in the inside and possibly doing what you just did in the video but determined I need a nicer heat gun. Thanksso much for the vid! Liked and gave you a sub!

      These are ok for lite use, but the bauer gun is a lot better and will last longer - thanks for subscribing!

    Thanks for the video. My Drill Master just quit this morning. Probably the same thing happened with the coil. I will at least take it apart for a look. No more $9 ones. Only Warriors which now cost $18 plus tax.

      that was on sale recently for $10, either black friday or ITC, might want to check the sale books on their site, they'll likely have another 20% off before christmas, or in january

    it goes into the heating element because there is a thermal fuse that uses goes out. That's where the problem usually occurs. heat gun gets too hot and the thermal fuse blows. they are hard to find. many people bypass them, and the heat gun works, but no protection if that wire starts to melt. i have a bunch of those heating elements, since yours broke at the coil. good job on the repair.

    Why didn't you just take that thing back?

      because it lasted longer than 90 days and HF's return polity is 90 days - also interesting to fix the heat gun and go over the construction and how it works - thanks for subscribing!

      I have the drillmaster heat gun, which is the same heat gun before it was rebranded to warrior and i've never had a problem with it - maybe the warrior had a defect -

    It's a 65 cent thermal fuse,don't solder it,if there's no continuity, be cautious..

      I showed in the video, the coils are burned in two in several places, after I solder them back together with silver solder, the heat gun worked fine - thanks for subscribing!

      @@snapwholeharborfreightreviews is silver solder different from 60/40??

    • @snapwholeharborfreightreviews
      @snapwholeharborfreightreviews  Год назад

      @@MrsBuddevil Yes it is different, it has a much hotter melting point, and is often used to solder items like this heating element that might melt regular solder - it is also creates a harder mechanical joint, and can help keep hard use from breaking the joint, the silver content and melting point of silver solder varies by manufacturer - thanks for subscribing!
