"It's CORRUPTION!" Piers Morgan Debates The Royal Family's Value With Anti-Monarchists

  • Piers Morgan Uncensored is joined by CEO of Republic Graham Smith and anti-monarchist and RUclipsr Alex O'Connor to try and prove Piers Morgan wrong about the monarchy being worthwhile for the country.
Piers believes that the Royal Family does more good than harm and that they bring in a lot of money for the country. Graham believes that he would rather see the money that the Royal Family use to upkeep properties and travel, directly used on fixing homelessness in this country.

Valid points? 😂😂😂😂These anti-monarchists didn't explain a decent reason as to why the monarchy should be removed aside from the fact that it's an "undemocratic system". Which is completely false, the UK is a constitutional monarchy, which is classified as a democratic system and in fact is a lot more democratic than some nations with "democratic elections" and no monarchy.
What these people are trying to do is remove the culture and tradition from UK society. Furthermore, they also tried arguing that the monarchy doesn't bring in increased tourism, when it's a simple logical fact that royal events will increase tourism, even if they want to deny it.
They don't have a stable argument, and the vast majority of people from the UK are for the monarchy. These people are simply outliers, and as you can guess are avid supporters of the Labour party, whereas the vast majority of people in the UK and especially England are conservative in nature. The only people who would think these fools "bodied" Piers, are people who have no idea of English tradition, I mean even I can understand and I'm Australian.

They do have valid points that need addressing and as someone who is English born and breed. I totally agree and would like to know if the royals cost more than they bring in. If that's the case then everyone who's homeless should fight to get frid of the royal family and the sale of all royal goods and estates, could go to pay for new houses, extra pay for NHS workers and so on...This is definitely a discussion that needs to happen as the world is economically crippled.

But in a world of financial disaster and so many economical problems. If we are keeping the royals around solely for the sake of tradition, then this should not be allowed if its costing the country way more than it actually helps. If it turns out that they do bring in huge amounts of money that offset all of their expenses, then I don't have an issue with them remaining. The world is a very different place than it was a 100 years ago and we do have to now look into these kinds of issues.

I also wouldn't say that I don't trust any politicians as im sure some are good people, however I agree that their are probably a lot of corrupt politicians too.

I'm going to be honest, these Republicans did make some convincing points which Piers did not really address.
Piers did use Ad-hominem attacks on the guests, like when he asked them if they "hate homeless people". He also interrupted them multiple times. In addition, Piers used unconvincing points such as magic and tradition, as well as showing inconsistent biases when he tried to justify the Royal Family using public funds to buy houses, when he previously scolded MPs for doing the same.
For me, a solution that I would propose would be for the monarchy to be "privatised" - they would still be recognised as Kings/Queens de jure, but would have no role in government (not even ceremonious). They can keep their palaces, but they will have 0 public funding, they will need to find their own way to make money (like everyone else). Finally, they can have their fancy weddings and have them televised, or continue with their activism, but it will all be funded by themselves.

Surprised Piers didn't point out that the monarchy actually protect this country from a military backed dictatorship as has happened in several other countries. The reigning monarch is the only other person able to command our army besides the current Prime Minister. The fact the monarch is non political is hugely important to this and to the hosting of world leaders, representing us all no matter what our political leanings are and enabling this country to have conversations with any power in the world on neutral terms. An elected head of state would never be totally unbiased politically and the people electing them would have their own political agendas strongly influencing their choice. You don't have to believe in the 'magic' of monarchy to appreciate the value in that.

American here to say that I think *any* royal event is straight clownery and the mass majority of people I know feel the same 😆 it’s impossible to take seriously

Most visited country in the world is a republic country... UK as a whole doesnt even come top 5 nor does it become the first monarch country to receive more tourism. They should have mentioned that if they had a chance to talk.

At least I don't live in a brainwashed country thinking it's great to rob native peoples of their natural wealth.

@2:35 Piers lost the argument the moment he tried to qualify his statement around most watched events. Sorry, Piers, doesn't work that way.

People stay away from these kind of things. That's why 99% of hotels in London were fully booked the Royal Wedding weekend 😂

I can imagine whenever there's major events going on, people might assume traffic issues, too many people etc. plus people might stay in to watch the event on tv. this is all reasonable to think that there's less people walking around oxford street etc.

He's speaking of tourism, meaning non-British people. I wouldn't be surprised if this is just Loyalists all coming to London at once

@@imaratspal He is speaking out of his arse. An additional 70,000+ tourists visited London in the run-up to King Charles' Coronation.
Perhaps you should look at the facts rather than making assumptions that suit your narrative.

@@mancjay8946 So here's a fact, the Royal Family eats up tax dollars and gains attention from the media that could be spent to spread awareness about real issues. Unfortunately, excess and an archaic system are what money is spent on.
The Monarchy is a relic of the past that superficial fools that dream about excess worship, which is a lot of what's wrong with the world and is a bad influence on our youth.
