I actually recommend a good book about this battle that I've owned, but never got to read yet, about this battle. If you want to know, its called Seven Days in Hell by David O'Keefe Thanks for the Canadian rep today 😁
I know this is a gaming simulation, but if you want to make it closer to real for the first days, when the SSR went up the ridge on the 20th, they definitely didn’t have artillery support, and I have read nothing about air support in the early days. Here’s what my uncle wrote when the SSR retreated and he was left alone up the ridge. “We reached our designated area and were ordered to dig in. It is amazing how fast one can dig where there are a few bullets whistling around, even when the ground is hard. A burst of machine gun fire went into one of my pouches lying on the ground and set it smoking as it had hit my smoke bomb. I saved three packages of cigarettes but lost my emergency ration. Suddenly it became very quiet. I stuck my head up and look around. I was surprised to find myself all alone. Everyone else had buggered off without letting me know. I must have been either absent or asleep the day the Canadian Army taught us how to retire or retreat. Truly the thought never occurred to me that it would ever be necessary. “
The words of a man who was there, climbing through the wet grain on July 20th before he got captured the next day. “We started to advance up the slope of Verrières Ridge, through the wheat that dragged at our feet and legs making it bloody heavy and hot as hell. It was about this time that we had a heavy rain storm and we were wiping the rain off the ripening wheat to slake our thirst. I was carrying a P.I.A.T. (Projectile Infantry Anti-Tank). It got so heavy that I had to put it down intending to return for it. It was a costly error to leave it. Although I never saw a tank until late that night, one them destroyed our anti-tank guns. I was away out on the right of D Company. I was surely lonely out there”
Yeah this battle did not go well for the Canadians, and is second only to the Dieppe Raid in terms of losses. Despite this its not a very well known engagement, even in Canada.

Horrible battle for us Canucks. Great video brother, been watching for years and so glad to see you’re still making content.
Wish these games weren’t so expensive or went on sale sometime.

What game is this?
what a miss opportunity, the battle developed such in a way, that i looked like that the bloody battle was for the germans
