The two things I really like about playing Germans in games like this: you get diversity of equipment (sometimes making you scratch your head about how to use it best), and you're always fighting against somewhat uphill odds. Sometimes downright vertical.
It's so fascinating to watch this game getting played by someone who knows what he's doing! I've seen people play this like it's Company of Heroes and wiping their own forces out in no time :)
Road To Montebourg was an amazing series so happy to see something similar. Also shout out to Paestum in the south of the Salerno beachhead, an awful mission in MOH Airborne.
Great work Hapless. I wish more people would watch your content, it's amazing. As always, thank you so much for the amazing content and I hope you have a great day.
Nice sitrep to position the campaign at the start. As always, thanks for what you do, UH. Love your style and format, so I'm looking forward to this campaign just as much as the others you've produced
I love this CM game. I am a long-time player and really enjoy your videos. Ex. I would have gone LEFT almost mirror to what you did and just ignored the right most touch objectives. Exit for pts. ;) I LOVE seeing it from another's perspective with the narrative. Keep them coming.
Do you think you could take a look at Graviteam Tactics: Mius Front? If you haven't heard of it, it's kinda a more modern, less micro-heavy alternative to CM.
Well executed I'd say, good job! I personally was considering leaving the two touch objectives on the left, but the score was a lot closer than I was expecting so it might have been fortunate that you didn't entirely bypass them! It was also really cool to see you fight the AT guns with your tanks, I and most others could never be so brave with them, and truly your unique braveness payed off, well done!
I exited every single vehicle with a total loss of 3 dead and 4 wounded but got a tactical defeat for my trouble. (I had reasoned that mopping up is a job for the following infantry formations so only cleared one objective.)
Hello! Can I ask you how you sort of go back in time? As an example you show a vehicle getting shot from two very different perspectives. Is there a replay mode in combat mission?
@@Arthsycz They get hit way too easily, especially a problem with half-track gunners because they won't automatically duck behind the shield when they're getting suppressed so they just sit there until they very quickly get shot.
When I saw the models of the German officers out of sync with the tank models right in the first seconds of the video, I remembered how truly amazing it is that this company has also not managed to add tooltips to its UI after it was suggested in 2015. I just have to admit I am a fence sitter and don't know on which side I am on yet: whether the reason is plain greed or incredible incompetence.

Yeah, this campaign starts getting tougher pretty quick.
Is it weird that I enjoy the history lesson in the beginning as much as the gameplay?
Really glad to see more campaign gameplay! It always makes a nice balance with the long-form multiplayer games.
I love CMFI, and I'm glad that Hapless is doing what he wants to do! I'm gonna love this one
It seems your tank commanders and panzergrenadiers have a bad case of stroke caused by lead poisoning.

Your tactics are always great and I dig the history lesson at the start. Good content.
I loved your Road to Montebourg campaign and was just thinking that I'd love to see another campaign like it. What a lucky day! :)
Dude, bless you for this content. All I’ve wanted was a FI campaign.
These AAR videos are absolutely top notch! love the education and really appreciate the effort you put in.
Thumbs up!

Ah, Italy. Thank you for considering this lovely theater.
Yay. More Hapless happiness! Great visuals and commentary. Thanks! :)
Thanks for delivering a great edit on a AAR as usual!

It's always super interesting to see how other people do the same missions!
That was a rather pleasing experience, great job Hapless, I'll follow this with great interest.
I wish there was a way to do multiplayer campaigns. Would take ages but would also be one of the most realistic ways to play a long campaign
Awesome to see a new campaign Hapless, very excited to see it all!
This is going to be good! Fortress Italy is certainly in my top CM settings, if not the top.
Another great video! The next video is a river crossing on a time crunch you say? Can't wait! Keep up the good work!
I really enjoy your work. Id like how you combine history and back story to you vids. I hope to see more of everything!
So excited to see another campaign

I think I only have room in my head for one hardcore wargame. I'm trying CMO right now and it's just not sinking in!
Always good to see another Hapless video
I'm going to get this scenario and play along.
Great stuff mate, its very refreshing to see some ww2 content, cheers
Great presentation Hapless!
Woohoo! Happy to have WW2 content from you
Great stuff man

Just wait for the "It's only a 37mm ATG, they can't pen a Pzr IV at this dist-"
@@usuallyhapless9481 hahaha, true, never say never! 🤣
Excellent video as always UH. I recommend watching your German half-track commentary along with this one.
once again, some great content. thanks UH!
It’s very strange to see German units at TO&E strength after playing BN and RT
It doesn't last.
Vintage Hapless AAR
Glad to see another campaign series! I'm assuming that if you capture Mark Clark the game ends in a decisive German defeat?
Maybe actually!
I exited every single vehicle with a total loss of 3 dead and 4 wounded but got a tactical defeat for my trouble. (I had reasoned that mopping up is a job for the following infantry formations so only cleared one objective.)
Great video!
Oh maaaan have I been looking forward to this! Feels great to be back in WW2, can't wait for more! Cheers Hapless! 🥂
Hello! Can I ask you how you sort of go back in time? As an example you show a vehicle getting shot from two very different perspectives. Is there a replay mode in combat mission?
If you play in turn-based mode, you can replay each turn to your heart's content.
@@usuallyhapless9481 ohh thank you
A great video. The introduction in particular was excellent.
This was great
No way to lay down smoke on the road and just run units down toward the exit?
oof, loosing that Stummel really hurts
Interesting scenario, looking forward to to this and cmbs content. Cheers!
I wonder if they'll ever fix the bullet magnet tank commanders or machine gunners.
Only after it gets irl fixed I think
@@Arthsycz They get hit way too easily, especially a problem with half-track gunners because they won't automatically duck behind the shield when they're getting suppressed so they just sit there until they very quickly get shot.
That is something that has commented on a lot over the years.
Take more risks throughout the campaign? I would like to see how it turn out.
10:17 wonder where that fear came from 8^)
Nice
Not worth risking your infantry trying to clear that forest.
Have u noticed that every "theoretical" conflict in cm happened in real life

time is worst enemy unit on the map
Haven't heard from you in ages, been playing stalker anomaly instead
Black Sea content plz friend
I'm your thousandth like.
You Yorkies sure have a funny way of butchering the language, so you do.
Combat mission, what can I say about this pile of shit. Depressing graphics, clumsy controls
Watch something else?
