You've no idea how much I enjoyed watching this. Not only have you got a great presenting style, but on a personal note, CMFI was the first of the CMx2 series I played and this was the very first campaign I played. In fact it was this scenario that gave me the idea of making CM videos way back in 2015. My very first video was one of the later battles of this campaign, Hill 1209 I think and then Cutting the Cesaro Road. I'd be very keen to see you play through the rest of this campaign - subbed and watching.
Great video... narration and after-action analysis. I appreciate the amount of work that went into this, thank you. One thing that you pointed out is exactly why I was searching for game videos: the AI provides unrealistic survivability parameters for things like the AT gun. Under any set of rules multiple barrages of direct fire (the observers have LOS) of 105mm artillery, 81mm and 60mm mortars, 37mm anti-personnel and/or HE rounds and .50 HMG, .30 LMG, .30 rifle fire would be enough to, at the very least, suppress an 50 mm AT gun. I've experienced this same thing with the AI, it seems that no amount of fire can kill a gun that's in my way. I've read hundreds of books on WWII and can point to tons of evidence that even armored AT guns, once exposed, are vulnerable to return fire. There is no way that a towed 50mm AT gun even if it were in a bunker, which this one wasn't, would not be destroyed by the amount of direct fire. I experienced this a lot in CM and I wish they would fix this. Again, thanks for the video and thanks for highlighting this failure of the AI... your results would have been much better under more realistic conditions. By the way... to add something... my experience isn't entirely theoretical. Back in day, I trained with an M-79 and even though I never used it in combat I'm pretty sure that any grenadier worth his salt could put one of 5 or 6 40mm rounds onto that gun from 100 - 200 meters.... especially with some suppressing fire in support. So again, I'll say that the idea that 50 or 100 rounds of 105/81/60 mm fire can't kill the gun is ridiculous.
I dont know if you still post, but would love too see you tackle the next mission. I’ve had a hard time with it and would be cool too see how you solve it.
Great video, delightful to watch the planning phase, and I really liked the AAR section, evaluating the game plan based on the principles of war is something I haven't seen any other creator do before and it really sets this video apart from the rest. I'm very much looking forward to the video!
Thanks for the compliment. I'm going to try to finish up the campaign, but it may be a month or so before I get the next one out, due to RL. I also need to figure out how to make the videos more quickly or efficiently.
Subbed. It's always nice to see this aging title still has it. And waiting impatiently for your own take on the second and third missions, as they are notoriously difficult. (now I'd allow my inner Italian to say : 🤌🤌🤌IT'S TROINA, NOT TRIONA, MAAAAAA!!!🤌🤌🤌)
@@sirfanatical8763 Initially, I was a SWO (surface warfare officer), but switched over to intelligence after my initial tour, and ended up retiring as a reservist with 28 years active and reserve time.
Thoroughly enjoyed this. Looking forward to mission 2. The only constructive criticism I could offer is regarding sound quality. There was quite a lot of background noise behind your commentary that was a bit distracting. Otherwise it was a great video.
This was a lot more in depth than I was expecting. A lot of work must go in these videos.
Reminds me of those ex commanders playing this game.

Thank you for your kind words. I'm going to be getting back to this soon. Real Life has been interfering with my virtual life.....
@@McVercingetori yes, I know how it is. All the best.

Excellent AAR indeed. Liked and subbed. Please do continue posting CM content. It's always fun to watch someone good playing this niche game.
Love the detail in the planning, something I definitely struggle with. Keep em' comin!

Excellent video. I had a lot of fun watching it.
Great AAR man, please continue the series, very very nice
Excellent video. Your level of planning explains why I often don't do well as this game.
Awesome! Cant wait for the other battles of the campaign. I am still stucked in the second battle.
awesome planning, battle, AAR! Thanks for this video.
loved it, i hope you do more. also, please consider doing a graviteam game.
I like the pace of your content. Also looking forward to the 2nd scenario, as I did get a bloody nose in it. Cheers
Excellent AAR looking forward to more

Great AAR, visuals, explanations etc! Thx a lot. You've got a new subscriber :)
Excellent video please upload more like it
It is extremely unfortunate that you have decided to make only one video featuring Combat Mission.
Excellent video, I loved the detail. Subscribed
The Campaign this is based on is actually called Troina. Because of the City of Troina near the Triona Mountains. Just a small correction :)
excellent AAR. please do more.
please make more of these videos
Amazing AAR!
Great AAR mate. Sub'd in anticipation of more!
Those canister rounds at 19:49 😲
Did you do the tutorial series for Armchair general?
Good video man. Subbed. Please make more

Damn, you are right. I should have caught that......☹
Its always called a B A R never bar.
Very nice planning. Were you ever an NCO or officer?
I was an officer, but in the USN, so I'm really out of my element when doing land combat games.
@@McVercingetori Alright. What did you do as a Navy officer?

@@McVercingetori if you dont mind me asking, what exactly did you do in intelligence?
Are there any missions where the player has to defend?
Could you fix that annoying icon shape shifting for future videos ?
nice video
I second all these sentiments. Subbed.

sounds like "onepingonly" aar? same guy?
Nope, I'm a different person. I suspect I have greyer hair.....😆
@@McVercingetori great AAR BTW.
Not the same guy, but I’d be happy to claim this…. because it is GOOD! I am looking forward to the next installments!
