Left and Right is the problem, few politicians in power do what is right regardless of political perspective. I do believe however, that with the benefit of hindsight both Clark snd Powell were right and would have made the better leaders of their party. In their time.
@@HAPPYTHELEAF I'm glad you felt the need to reply. Korky certainly had more intellect than Alan Clarke, and unlike Alan Clarke, Korky and indeed myself, would never have joined the Tory party. Nobody with any intellect would join the Tory party, for a tired nation is a Tory nation, and Britain can't afford to be tired nor Tory!. Good luck with expanding your cranium.
No government could have come through what the Heath government had to deal with. The oil shock completely destabilised the economy and Northern Ireland exploded. The unions were still rampant and the public's view of them had not yet changed. We saw similar patterns in other countries that were hit by the oil shock. Nobody who got power in the 70s could hold on to it. In the USA, Forde lost the 1976 election and Carter lost the 1980 election for similar reasons. The oil shock sent inflation soaring and caused deprivations that the public were not accustomed to.
Thank you for uploading the remaining episodes of this great series. Been looking forward to it for ages.
This channel never disappoints! Thank you again so much for uploading this
Very sad to see Enoch Powell. He died soon afterwards. But what a life of achievement!
Great upload. Do you by chance happen to have the first two of this series? Luke

Roth, was to journalism, what Cruickshank's Fagen was to commerce.
His diaries are essential reading when on the bog!
Strangely when Alan Clark (the aristocrat) imitates Heath (boy from Kent), it sounds like he's putting on a posh accent.
Is this really what happened? Is it another exaggeration? Is it another lie? I do not know, but it sounds interesting.
