Hey mate, I’m trying to decide which one to get, was hoping you could tell me:

2: can you view Raveneye transmission output on the RS3 gimbal screen? Or are both of these features for the Pro only

@@lucrativestance No, you don't. You need the Raveneye Wireless Transmitter, I was just trying to figure out if it works on both the RS3 Pro and the RS3. I dont think you can even view the LiDAR cameras output on the gimbals screen on either gimbal.

@@Luke-vg7ut according to “ Dji website “ you can view the lidars camera on the ronin lcd, that’s how you would be selecting the “ active tracking” via the lcd on the screen from the lidar feed. The only thing that confuses me abit is, that if that same video feed will display on the app. So you can use the active tracking selection tool via app.

Excellent, well planned and executed review, Chris. Wouldn't expect anything less. I have what I think is quite a niche query and I reckon you're the fella to answer this.
So my Weebill-S took quite a knock on a recent shoot and I'm pretty sure it's dead so I'm on the lookout for the replacement.
I've landed on the RS3 I think but here's the question. Shooting on the A7iii and I'm wondering with the Bluetooth connectivity, any thoughts as to being able to use the joystick on the gimbal to move Flexible Spot focus?🤔
I reckon that's highly unlikely and if so, does Raveneye support tap to focus on your mobile device do you know?
    Thanks in advance. 🙏🏻

Hi, Chris. I am just an enthusiast, not pro at all. I use an a7iii with Tamron lenses… plus, I rarely use manual focus lenses. With this in mind, I simply won’t need RS3 Pro.
However, I really really want the Transmission system and the active track. For this, I understand I can use the Transmission system along with RS3 and that should be enough. I will be losing out on LiDar support. I’m tempted by the carbon fiber body, and I may find the smaller handle slightly less comfortable.
But what else will I be losing if I go with the RS3 and not the RS3 Pro?

  • @Zizos

Do I understand correctly that rs3 combo kit does not include raveneye system? So what about tracking function? - isn't there no need for it anymore or do you have to buy it separately? Thanks 😉

Can you control any zoom or focus wirelessly without adding attachments?

Chris, What a great video! Very informative with a lot of real life examples It has been a while sense I last touched base. Like you, I also have the aS73, do you know if you can control the ISO and the F stop setting from the gimbal w/o giving up the record button and still having the focus the way you described in your set up? I guess what I asking can you run all the camera settings from the gimbal? Again, fantastic well done video. Mark

Nice ... I assume you can use a cell phone with this gimbal? Want something a little more robust than the Osmo 5.

Honestly, I've never found the camera control cable or locking to be problematic at all :/ I don't know how I feel about the "RS3" being touted as an 'upgrade' to the RSC2 as though this gimbal design came out of nowhere and has 'new' and 'improved' features. It doesn't really, it's just an RS2 with bluetooth and some buttons moved around. Wouldn't really claim it as a generational change. It seems like some subtle marketing slight of hand, because the whole point of the RSC series as a product was to be the compact folding one in the range, which has now been binned entirely.
Had they brought a way to HDMI-out to the gimbal itself and pass that through to a monitor on an arm (either using higher bandwidth data pass-through contacts or some sort of internal wireless transmission (with a battery upgrade to power it all), removing the inhibiting cable tethered to a gimballed camera- THEN it would be a generational jump. Hell, try R&D z-axis stabilisation into the Ronin Design, that would be an actual generational change. But it seems we really just got an RS2 mkii or RS2-BT and some new 'extended' arms for the RS2 (as the RS3 Pro).

Is it still a 12mm rod? That was one reason I never got the RS2.

Does it have auto zoom feature? I mean record yourself with changing distance from a camera and be in constant zoom within lens range?
