😱 What If You Return To Harkon, But Get Infected With Regular Vampirism in Skyrim?

- Have you ever thought about what could happen if you returned to Harkon, cured of pure-blooded vampirism, only to become infected with regular vampirism in the process? I decided to check it out. First, I went to Falion to cure myself of pure-blood vampirism. He led me to the swamps where he performed a ritual, and after that, I became a regular human. Later, I found a cave with vampires in the vastness of Skyrim, where, after a considerable amount of time, I still managed to contract common vampirism. After waiting a couple of days, I finally turned into a vampire, but now without the ability to transform into a vampire lord. After that, I headed to Castle Volkihar. So, Harkon. I approached him, and here's what he said.

Okay but HOW patient is he? Like how many times will he just refill your ancient blood like a plug to an addict?
Infinitely I would presume
I tried it a few times to see if he would get mad after a few tries... you can do it an infinite amount of times lmao
You can only cure vampirism once I believe
@@Rith9789you can also cure it if you get lycanthropy
@Rith9789 that was just in morrowind, pretty sure both skyrim and Oblivion that restriction was removed
I love how Skyrim has all these niche extra dialogue
harkons dialogue is the same if you come back as a human, werewolf im not sure though
It's really dumb because it shows that there are no consequences to your actions. Harkons just like whoops yea lets revert back to the status quo.
games not as detailed as you think.
@@evil1143yeah its more of a choose-your-own-adventure game than a create your own outcome game
@@evil1143credit where its due, they paid attention to the entire world and its consequences and adjusted at least dialogue to match (seeing as to how much videos this guy has)
He says the same thing if you cure your vampirism. It’s just dialogue that’s granted when you remove the pure blood
Not really, here he sounded weary, and disappointed in their wayward child, whereas as a human he is actually pissed
@@samuelhaverghast2442 That's total bollocks. It's the exact same voice line that's played when you talk to him as a human. Watch a video of it.
@@strategicnuclearmoose5017think Samuel just wanted a chance to practice his poetry, "wayward child" sure mate okay
Pure blood? You were never a pure blood in the first place anyone bitten by a vampire isn't a pure blooded vampire this is why normal vampirism is seen as a disease due to how far removed it is from the gift given by Bolag Bal granted in game visiting harkon is the only way to receive such a powerful gift but it's not the same as pure blooded vampirism that can only be given by Bolag Bal
@@bluehornet197 yeah load of waffle mate he never said the character is pure blooded, he said "the pure blood" because harkon gives you it and he has it. Typed all that just to sound smart and you got the first bit wrong
“Be still while i give you the ancient blood once more” sounded oddly sexual
Well funny you say that...
Oddly? He's a vampire. There's nothing nonsexual about it.
I wish they add a reply dialogue like, "Please be gentle with me..."
Aye aye aye! Keep your weird fetishes to yourself buddie!
@@narraliveproject2576 sure. now stay still while I *disseminate* my special gift into you! Can you feel *it* flowing through you? Do not resist. There is pleasure in pain 🧛
He sounds so dissapointed XD
More so annoyed he has to fill you back up.
"god damnit dovahkiin. this is the seventh time you somehow lost your pure blood this month."
Actually, he likes biting Dovahkiin, so he wouldn't refuse doing it another time xD
@@AffixedEvilthis makes more sense 😂 literally it's the blood of a dragon 🐉 said to be blood of Akatosh bloodline to him it's probably a treat and high blood pressure to him.
I thought he'd be like "... How the fuck did you lose the ancient blood?"
It's skyrim. Can't expect niche dialogue, just vague responses so you think there's niche dialogue.
How to fock did you lose the ancient blud, dovakhin? It's not a bag of fockin peanuts, is it?
Dragon born dropped it in a river.
You forget to cherish it
Dragonborn accidentally tossed it into a storage chest.
Vampire lord is actually cool when you get the perks. I had a level 82 pure mage build, on survival mode whole game, absolutely OP, suited him up with daedric armour in end game and used the vampire lord mist form to get around the map at amazing speeds while being invulnerable, like the smoke monster off lost.
I have been playing with the sacrosanct mod, which overhauls the entire vampire system. Totally new perk tree, way stronger passives in human mode but... when you're thirsty enough you lose hp oblivion style in daylight. It's offset with crazy strong powers like unbreakable invisibility and the ability to command anyone you can speak with.
And when fed, you can sacrifice that to heal hp/stamina/magicka like a level up, becoming thirstier. Also adds ways to get more blood potions.
Check it out, totally makes vampires more interesting. Actually gives me a reason to use Auriel's bow.
Idk how to edit but I wanna add, when fed you cannot die. You go down like an invincible NPC then get back up with a full restore, justthruster, and a message that says "Evil never dies!" Seriously a cool mod.
@@dfrostedwang5478 Sounds cool. I don't like how daylight in vanilla skyrim isn't really even an issue for vampires to just be wandering around in. From memory it was different before they added the dawnguard DLC, I think at one point maybe you did take damage like in oblivion but I might be wrong.
@@MEGAyognauts No in vanilla all daylight did was stop regeneration of hp, magicka, and stamina. I had over 2500 hours in skyrim on Xbox without dlc 😆 back when I was an irresponsible teenager.
Until about 3 days without feeding or blood potion, the sacrosanct mod works the same way. I have been going with ONLY magicka on level ups and have almost 900 magicka now so it's not a real issue.
Got apocalypse magic overhaul too, so I have Longstride to move quickly instead of sprinting. And ease burden instead of raising my carry weight. And deep storage which is just a chest you can access anywhere... maybe a little OP. With all that, going only magic is a solid choice.
One more thing about vampires though which I did not realize until I was in you know who's house for the thieves guild quest line... you drain 10 magicka/stamina per second when trespassing. I hadn't noticed because I have so much magicka lmao.
That's a really nice lore accurate downside to being a vampire. I approve.
@@MEGAyognautsyou did take minor dmg at max thirst, along with towns people becoming hostile, but it also had a much lower reduction to your stat bars, basically they traded being slightly weakened, but slowly dying to being severely weakened, so long as you don't have good status enchantments on your armor.
What if you get healed of pure vampirism and return as a werewolf?
Table flipped
He's a lot more chill than I thought 😂
Do it again, find the end of his patience.
Unfortunately there is no end to his patience. He will restore your ancient blood as many times as you want
Fun little fact just to make killing Harkon that much more cathartic;
The only true blooded vampires are the daughters of coldharbor. In the ritual, a woman in question is brutalized by molag bal and given the non linear nature of time in oblivion could be over the span of years or centuries. Should she survive the ordeal, she becomes a vampire and is returned to nirn; powerful, but mentally and physically ravaged.
It's implied through in game dialogue and elder scrolls books that Harkon pressured or even forced his wife and daughter to undergo the ritual just so they could then infect him with near perfect vamperism.
So not only is Mr. Superiority Complex not even pure blooded, but to even get his affliction, he made his own wife and daughter undergo arguably the most vile experience there is in the entirety of the elder scrolls.
It would certainly explain Serana's hesitance to speak on the subject of becoming a vampire, and why she is unwilling to entertain any relationship with the dragonborn; to say it was traumatic would be an understatement of titanic proportions, and gives that much more reason to make harkon's death as painful as possible.
From the in-game books I read in Morrowind Vivec underwent a similar ordeal. To be fair he was a god-like being at the time. Supposedly Molag decapitated Vivec so that they could watch themselves being violated in addition to feeling it. Vivec did gain additional power from the ordeal. Vivec is a hermaphrodite so I don't know why Molag would hesitate to violate a man directly as well. "holes is holes"
Now be still while I give you the ancient blood once more...Damn Gina!
In older games, being cured of vampirism or lycanthropy made you immune to it forever. But now the games let you practically turn them off and on again like a switch. I thought the player would at least become immune to normal vampirism after being cured, but guess not.
As a life ling argonian my last play through I got vampirism just about everytime one ran out of the woods. I do like to go back to the soul Carine every once in a while.
No conséquences. That's a real problem in Skyrim (great game, but...)
Ohh please. You just wanted a another kiss from lord harkon.. Dont deny it. :D
If Harkon died then Serana will transform you.
I had a glitch on my one save where every time I turned into a vampire lord and back again, I would be "cured" in a sense that I no longer had any vampire debuffs but could still change and had the powers etc. Court vampires refused to talk to me, but harkon wouldn't acknowledge it I guess because I still had the vampire lord power. Had to go get regular vampirism and wait, then go to falion and be properly cured, and then go to harkon EVERY TIME I turned into a vampire lord.
Lore fact: any vampire not infected by Molag Bal (via ritual insemination) is not considered a "full blooded vampire". Its just that Harkon, his wife, and his daughter were sired by Molag Bal directly the Dragonborn has access to the purest half-blooded vampirism on Tamriel.
Yes, I was a little mistaken. I was waiting for someone to finally notice.
Are you telling me vampirism is an STD with extra steps in this universe?
The males don't go through that ritual, only the females.
@@silence6408I was gonna say wait Harkon went through ritual insemination?! HA! Gay! lol jk but so how does he become a pure blood then?
@@haydenjurko He made a deal that involved the wife and daughter being questionabley consenting with molag bal's daedric shlong.
You can’t just het bored of Skyrim. There’s always some thing new to what ifs and why nots 😂
Never played skyrim I'm thinking of giving it a go now
Such a generous man lol
Great idea to investigate, thanks!
I haven't thought about that
Being a vampire is so much better then being a werewolf but then again you can’t go out in the daytime..
If you shoot a bloodcursed eleven arrow into the sun, and then use the "clear skies" shout you can go outside and suffer no ill effects and the sky will be normal
you can if you get enchanted armor 😉
It's a waste to not being a vampire, there is so many powerful abilities waiting for you with your thirst.
@@zeronime284 true, is there a way to be a hybrid?

Honestly, the best DLC Bethesda ever made. It was SO well thought out, and you can FEEL the passion they had for this storyline.
Ummm you should try shivering isles
@@kyleedwards6026 ah great point. I stand corrected.
@@kyleedwards6026 shivering isles by far the best dlc bethesda ever put out i doubt they will top it when TES 6 someday comes out

The only gripe that I have about Dawnguard is that they force Serana onto you, with no way to kill her off
Hey so I was wondering what happens if you approach the Alik-r warriors looking for Saadia as a redguard woman character? Do they accuse you at first or immediately ask for help as they do any other character race.
there's no special dialogue, they just give you the quest as normal
Ahahah 😂 even if redguards all look a bit alike in skyrim they are not dumb, they know how Saadia looks like.
@@user-un5xj1wl6pThey accuse redguard women all around skyrim before you first talk to them, so no, they don’t know what she looks like.
as en elemental hero player that last duel was super satisfying to watch
There's a reason this game was game of the year and we've bought it an average of 4-6 times lol
I mean, it's just making sure you don't break the whole storyline, since the first time you agree to join him, you're committed and can't join the Dawnguard.
Literally the same dialogue if you just outright cure the vampirism and dont get re infected
"I only stay still for Brynjolf bi-"
He's so annoyed that you would waste it, the man only has so much blood! lmao
A Vampire with "patients "lol nothing but time on his hands and yet he magudgenly gives u his Royal blood.
You sir are going to be a vampire lord if you like it or not
But honestly, why would you choose anything but Vampire Lord anyway? Especially if you're going with a mage build.
There should’ve been an option where Harkon straight up kicks you out after the 2nd time
This game is just consistently a masterpiece
I'm new to Skyrim and being bombarded with these awesome informations is overwhelming 😂
I envy you, I would love to experience all of it again for the first time. But despite playing for more than 2 years now, I still find things in the game that I didn't know about.
Stop watching these and just explore. It's more fun that way. I haven't even discovered everything in the game and I've played it for years. Elder Scrolls games are blank canvanases.
"bro then why the fuck did you stick with us"- Harkon unscripted dialogue.
Ok hear me out what if you know the word to almost all the shouts before going to the grey beards?
Honestly makes me sincerely happy that they gave this option, because I have been avoiding becoming a vampire because I didn't know if doing so was a one-way ticket, now that I know that you can return to it, I might do the quest, cure myself, then go back to it later and see if I can cure myself again.
I want to be a werewolf, that's what I'm saying.
You can follow the Dawnguard side of the DLC and still get Vampire Lord from Serana once during the entry to the Soul Cairn and I'm pretty sure infinitely once the DLC is over and Harkon is beaten.
I never wanted to be a vampire.
Dark Elf
i wonder what he would say if you were already a common vampire when meeting him
there is special diologue for it
When you're going to your 24/7 stoned friend after you stayed sober for 2 weeks
So basically, he was like
So you got read of pure vampiric power to get that trash....are you special or something?
Try to talk to Alain Dufont before killing him. Don't know if you have a video about that already, but I in particular never knew he had dialogue.
Vampire bro has the hots for the Dragonborn and doesn’t want to admit it 😂
"Be still , while I give you the ancient blood , once more , " all the from sitting in a chair ? huh !
"And all you have to do is close your eyes and suck it out of a hose."
He's so forgiving he doesn't trip if you decided to become a werewolf in between missions.
What if you approach him as a regular vampire when he first offers you pure vampire blood
Oh my word!!! The detail!!!
Even after all this time i still learn things about skyrim and ive played it when it came out. I never went back when i became a human again or i just didn't cure myself
Man, Skyrim never fails to amaze me, and i started on morrowind back in like 2003, and by 2008 i had put 100 plus hours into arena, daggerfall, morrowind, and oblivion each, so i really should be used to elder scrolls love of details, but after at least 2000+ hours (wtf is wrong with me) i still find new stuff like this
Very insightful!
If you're already a Werewolf, his bite gets rid of your Lycanthropy for free without having to use a Glenmoril Witch Head and Aela will turn you back whenever you ask again.
Thats nice they thought of this
Specific shit like this is why i think ES-VI is taking so long.
It better be the reason why.
@@thomaswright981 It's because they've been working on Starfield instead, since Fallout 4 released. We probably won't see TES VI until like 2028.
@@yewtewbstew547 oh god, I really hope that's not the case, starfield felt so empty, not even a quarter of skyrim

This generic ass dialog is what you're hoping the future of the series is taking its time with?
2024 anyone still playing Skyrim? I am
so... he has no change to just coming to him outright cured.. eh, makes sense i suppose
In fairness, Harkon seems the type who would view common vampirism as merely a disease. To him, you've just somehow managed to lose the gift he's given you.
Bethesda can't make RPGs with consequences for shit.
Became a vampire accidentally, it was cool at first because of the visual changes but the benefits didn't outweigh the downsides so i tried to get cured only for the quest to just break. He never showed up to do the ritual.
He has a similar dialog if you are a regular vampire when you 1st meet him
He sounds like a disappointed father lol
I’m About To Redownload This lml
So much detail in this game
Can’t wait for the next Skyrim
I do this everytime. I do the Morthal mission where you have to kill the vampires in the caves because I almost always get infected. Then I think it takes 3 days in game to go full vampire so in those 3 days I make it to Serena and she has a line of dialogue like, "I know what you are, isn't it obvious?"
My character has three choices, "I am a vampire." "You know what I am." Or "What am I?" And I always choose option 3 becuase canonically, he has only been infected for a few hours. Even he doesn't know what he is.
Cant wait for elder scrolls 6 vampires im crossing my fingers we get vampires at release 🤞
For those that didn’t know you can also cure yourself of vampirism by joining the companions and becoming a werewolf then you can cure yourself of that too if you want
He'll call you a hal-breed during the fight even if you're turned by Serana
I get why hes mad, to him you come back with diet vampirism.
I remember doing this and I could be wrong but he said something along the lines of "You angel of weak blood" or some such.
I'm pretty sure he was able to bite me and override the weak vampire blood, but it's been like 15 years or something since I played lol
"Faylon"
I remember when I performed the ritual and it bugged...
I remained a vampire and somehow, I was accepted by the dawnguard because I completed that quest.
Also , if you're a regular vampire when you arrive at first he's says 'You've contracted some common disease' and gloats that he's a real vampire lord
It makes sense that the Volkihar NPCs would still treat you as an equal, since I doubt they're all Vampire Lords themselves.
Do this every time I make a vampire character.
he gives you this same dialogue if you lose the vampire lord for any reason, including turning into a werewolf
You don't need the ritual to cure yourself of vampirism. Just go to the Companions and become a Werewolf. I hate vampirism.
This does make me curious if the "ancient blood" has any advantages to it
He says that even if your human
It be interesting to see if you can just turn vampires back into humans besides yourself and your companion just to see everyone reactions
From both sides
So I was banned because my account is new? What a game 10/10
how to have unlimoted wieght. if ur overwieght u can transform into the vampire lord and fly home fast and then transform back
Well now interesting indeed yes🙂😎👍❤️!
Did you know players skills in magic affect the vampire lord abilities
It still makes no sense to me that Bethesda left a million bugs in their games, but also cared enough to make a special line of dialogue for every random Idea anyone could ever have.
i think thats the same dialogue youd get if you simply come back after turning into a human
As if "leaving bugs" is somehow comparable to adding lots of content... bozo alert
@@ryanwysocki6437 It is comparable, because both means putting effort into it.
What if you cure vampirism then go back as a warewolf
Instead of Pure-blood vampirism, why not call it Royal Vampirism.
Stark👍
Meeting Harkon as a werewolf was hilarious. Man gave me shite about how I smelled and wanted to turn me, I refused. I left thinking: boy I’m gonna enjoy tearing him apart in werewolf form when the time is right. Needless to say, after maxing out the werewolf tree and on the final mission, that transformation into the battle felt amazing.
He's kinda fine (harkon I mean) 😭
Now. What if you do it multiple times
I found this out after I got infected rescuing serana
Whenever i do a vampire playthrough i get rid of Harkons blood and get Serana's, not only because I despise Harkon (which I do), but because visually I prefer Seranas pale skin over Harkons wrinkles and bat-like face.
I got cured 2 times in hopes I would unlock a new quest where I can fight the vampires. Becoming a vampire and going the vampire route was a mistake.
My Plan didn't work out. Can someone tell me if its still possible to join the dawnguard? Isran doesn't give me any new quest dialogue.
Played this game for 15 years, and it STILL surprises me.
This is why i cant game anymore.
Patient MAN? hmmmm
Ahrk fin tey...
Oh shit, DO IT AGAIN
what if you do the smart thing and become a werewolf instead so you dont have to deal with being useless during the day
Happens if you take the pure blood back and then go and turn back into a vampire
