My husband drinks this, he says its like "If PBR actually finnsihed High School". And he likes wood paneled basements.
The beer of choice for Quint in Jaws!
I am from RI, and it's definitely rooted in our history. I believe the ex CEO of Snapple steeped in and bought the company with a group of investors...Not exactly sure of his role, but he was instrumental in its revival about 20 years ago or so. It's a really good beer, especially for its price. This and Rolling Rock.
"Snapple" there's a blast from the past.
Best beer reviewer on RUclips. Honesty laced with comedy. I for one always crack a beer open when I see a new beer snob review.
Wow, thanks! You are a person of great taste and wisdom. CHEERS!
You had me at tube socks. I like PBR, Lionshead, and use to love old German can’t find that anymore.
I don’t care what anyone says, I’ve loved this beer for over a decade. It was brought back into existence back in 2005, I discovered it shortly afterwards. You finally got around to this. Cheers!! 😎
I used to see it in New Jersey, but the only place I've found it here in Georgia is Publix. I'm surprised how many people requested it's review. Thanks for your SUB and support - CHEERS!
I am from Kentucky and just found a six pack in the store today so gave it a shot. This is a very drinkable lager. I will buy it again if available. I also enjoyed learning about its history and association with the Red Sox.
I live in Newport Rhode Island for 14 years. Loved Narragansett beer. This was in the seventies
Their brewery in providence is amazing. It functions as a craft brewery and it's really good.
Love this beer. Thanks for the good laugh!
Interesting fact about Narragansett Beer. It was once an outstanding beer when it was brewed in Rhode Island. The original brewery closed in the late 1990s/early 2000s. Narragansett was brought back to life by some guys in Rhode Island in 2005. The Narragansett Lager is now contract brewed by Genessee Brewing in Rochester. Their bock and porters are brewed in Rhode Island. Since it's been brewed by Genny the taste and quality have gone downhill. Sad ending to a once great beer.
That was my take away too. Any buy out ruins everything. Thanks for the back story and for your SUB and support - CHEERS!
Delicious
Im here in ohio. A beer distributor turned me onto this beer. Im actually drinking Narragansett while i watch this video. I like it. Better then Hamms or schaefer. Its more like Busch to me. I dig it !
A classic..for New England
I'd been waiting for you to do this one! 👍
Hope you enjoyed it! CHEERS!
Enjoying a Budweiser and a local Indiana rye while watching this video. Keep up the great work!! Cheers!! 🍺🥃
Rock on! Thanks for watching - CHEERS!
First time on your channel. My local package store, here in NE Indiana, had new beer "Narragansett" as I was trying to find a new beer after drinking Budweiser (not BUD LIGHT) for 49 years. I typed in "narragansett beer" and your post popped up, while drinking my Narragansett beer. Hay, what do you have against us old, retired guys, that smoke cigars & have RVs. you brought back flashbacks of the 1970's
I think that's a fair score. I really like Narragansett and I can get it on draft in my area of Ohio, and its delicious and the cheapest beer on tap. Cheers 🍻
Never had Gansett on tap! I'd like to try it. Thanks for your SUB and support - CHEERS!
It"s good. damn good.@@CheapBrewReview
found this in nw in. lets go.
I've only been in New England for the past few years as a graduate student, and when I lived in NJ I always thought this beer was a bit subpar to other "dad beer" options like PBR, coors banquet, miller high life and the like. However, I don't know if this is some new found regional pride but I have been really enjoying this brew! There is a "paper-y" note that holds it back a bit, but I think it stands with the best of them. Cheers!
I might be the only 24 year old who this is my go to beer after being on the farm all day
I get up here in New Hampshire and I like it. Its even served at some local restaurants.
Just found this at a local liquor store an hour ago here in Marietta(Atlanta) GA. Never seen this brand before. The 12 pack had a can of the Lager floating in the ocean and Bruce from JAWS coming up from below., so needless to say, I had to purchase. The $10.49 price tag didn't hurt either. I've had one so far and it's quite good. Might just be a staple during this Fall season. First time viewer - love it! BTW, saw JAWS on the front row when I was 13.
A lovely tree.
I appreciate the honest - and I think mostly fair - review. I find the taste to be much better than any of the other RV driving, weird mustachioed, old man beers like Miller Lite and Coors Light, and certainly much, much better tasting than hipster PBR or the millennial beer of choice, Bud Light.
Keep up the great work slogging through all these cheap beers and I’ll be drinking right along with you during your next review!
LOL! You get me. Thanks for your SUB and support - CHEERS!
best review yet, hahah! i didnt realize Genny brewery was making it these days. no wonder i see it on grocery store shelves around these parts now. 🍺
RI brewery, Contract brewed by Genesee in Rochester, NY.
Why don't they brew it in RI any more? Thanks for watching and commenting and if you haven't SUBBED yet, please do. Check out more of my 140+ Brew Reviews and let me know what you think. CHEERS!
I worked with some RI natives in Chicago 20 years ago. They swore by ‘gansett as the best cheap beer. It’s finally available in Indiana. I picked up a 12pack today. It’s not bad. Better than Hamm’s. Different from High Life. On par with PBR. Similar to a Hudepohl, for those from the Cinci area. For $12 on a 12 pack. I’m thoroughly pleased.
7.99 for a six 16oz here in CT
I will defend Gansett as a RI resident, its cheap, its an american adjunct lager made for people who want something local but with the easy drinkability of something like a PBR. the best example of a Narragansett drinker is Quint from Jaws, some guy who wants beer but most likely can't afford anything better. Super easy to drink, the brewery has thankfully been getting into more quality craft style stuff recently.
My current favorite.
have been wanting to try this definitely getting some
Thank you for your view, SUB and support ! Let me know how you like the 'Gansett. CHEERS!
Hi neighbor ....have a Gansett....give this lager beer a chance....it has that great from the barrel taste...in bottle, can, on tap its great.... the theme song for Narragansett TV commercials for the Red Sox during the 1950's and '60s.
Always remember seeing one of my older brothers drinking this stuff. It tasted alright. Not bad but not something I’d buy much if at all. Review idea: Oktoberfest Season is approaching and I saw at my local grocery store Paulaner Oktoberfestbier and Paulaner Oktoberfest Marzen. You should do a review that shows the differences between the two beers
Good idea. I've got some Okto reviews coming up in the next few weeks. Thanks for your SUB and support - CHEERS!
So it tastes like a 70's hotel smells. To be honest, I kinda miss that smell.
Lol...sadly, I know what you mean. CHEERS!
I love that it had come back. I remember it falling out of favor. Very good lager at that price.
I'd call it a "value" beer along with PBR. If it's truly original recipe, it's great!
I was able to find a 12-pack for $12 at Food City in Kingsport, TN. Sipping on one now. It is a unique tasting beer. Reminds me of Old Milwaukee and PBR. Very balanced and very dry. Tastes Old Fashioned. Get alot of 70's vibes with it. I could see myself going back to a 70's bowling alley and ordering a pitcher of it. Or, sitting in a 70's chair and TV in a living room with plenty of snacks for a movie night. I'd rate it 97/100 High A. Cheers!
I liked this one during the short time it was available in central WI last year
Yeah, not bad stuff. Thanks for your SUB and support from Wisconsin - CHEERS!
Visions of beer can hats that my mom crocheted , in 1973.....
Never tried or seen this before. I'd try it if I came across it. Cheers 🍻
Hard to find depending on where you live, but worth the price. CHEERS!
Great intro. 😂👍
Thanks 😅 CHEERS!
This has just recently started becoming common here in SW Michigan. I have to say that it's quite nice. I compare it to an Old Style or PBR... classic taste and style.
Ayye my man shops at Publix you a real one earned a subscriber
Hey, Publix is the only place I can find this beer! lol. Thanks for your SUB and support - CHEERS!
Saw em for first time at Weis in Pennsburg PA. Been curious about it.
If you can somehow find it, PLEASE try Rickard’s Red or Rickard’s White. Classic Canadian cheap brew! I also subscribed.
as I write this I`m pleasantly buzzed
You are the best beer reviewer on RUclips. Maybe put Narragansett Del’s “Mango Shandy” on your list! It’s awesome…cheers! 🍻
Thanks - you rock! Thanks for watching and commenting and if you haven't SUBBED yet, please do. Check out more of my 140+ Brew Reviews and let me know what you think. CHEERS!
Its a good beer. I would have rated it a 4.2. There are lots of Lagers on the market, but few good ones at the price of a Narragansett.
When I turned 18 my pastor and another church member took me out for a picture of Narragansett. I’ve drank GIQ’s
First and last video of yours I’m watching
This is by far the cheapest beer on tap at my favorite watering hole in Waynesville NC. While I prefer the local microwave brewery stuff, this is a great, cheap pallet cleanser. Better than most big label trash. Think rolling rock when it was still in Latrobe. And requesting it pisses off all the right people. I have at least one per session. Kinda refreshing!
Wasn't this Quint's beer of choice?
Next up, country club sweet lager.
WOW that sounds like something you'd drink on a street corner. I'll look for it. CHEERS!
I just watched a video about figs lol
The figs smell SO BAD! lol. Thanks for watching and commenting and if you haven't SUBBED yet, please do. Check out more of my 140+ Brew Reviews and let me know what you think. CHEERS!
@@CheapBrewReview Remember me damn it! Lol
Not as good as it used to be in the 1970's when it was the official beer of Captain Quint and the crew of the Orca (from 'Jaws').
Isn't that almost always the case lol. Thanks for your SUB and support - CHEERS!
Never heard of it. But I'll look around. Ever since Miller bought Old Style, My Old Style doesn't taste right.
LOL. I was going to suggest a review of Quint's beer, but a simple search led me to this. That stuff is so awful it probably gave Jaws a stomachache.
I tried this one, over ten years ago, and it was "so-so".
Kinda meh for me. CHEERS!
Crush it like Quint!
It's funny. People keep bringing up JAWS with this beer, and I've never seen the movie lol! CHEERS!
Just what beer does this guy consider a good beer?
I got afib watching you chug
The Beer Garden...where only the strong survive! lol Thanks for your view, SUB and support - CHEERS!
Naggy puts in a caramel dye; all those old beers you mentioned are tops but disappearing to the big guys that run Mudweiser now : damn shame
Almost picked up some today at total wine and liquor. Looks like I made the right choice. Nah!
The *only* proper way to drink a Narragansett is to crush it like Quint. (JAWS reference)
Just paid 10$ for a 6 pack
$10 - OUCH! What did you think of it? Thanks for your SUB and support - CHEERS!
Blatz
i just downed a Truly with you…if that counts
Sorry, don't agree. Its the best cheap beer I've had. Sure everyone has different tastes but damn its such an easy to drink, thirst quenching beer. I've only ever had positive compliments from those who I recommend it to. Everyone is always surprised.
LOL😀😁😅
You'd rate it higher if your city-hands weren't so soft, and you could tie a bowline in less than ten seconds.
I guess I’m not a chugger, or beer bonger. I’ll bet you couldn’t do that with a stuffy nose. There must be a technique to that. 🤔
A technique that took me YEARS to develop lol! Thanks for watching and commenting and if you haven't SUBBED yet, please do. Check out more of my 140+ Brew Reviews and let me know what you think. CHEERS!
perhaps, crack smokers?
Hahaha
I don't care much for American lager. I prefer German lager and even some Mexican lager tastes very similar to old German style brewing.
That's because of German immigrants to Mexico brewing beer
I drank a can of this two weeks ago. It was flat and tasted like syrup. Terrible experience.
It’s not cheap a 30 pack In jersey is 27 dollars
😂
Yes it's best to eat shrooms before reviewing..
