Good episode with a lot of good points. I was raised by a hoarder and by finally observing it from a distance it made me hate it. My Mom to this day will still pull something broken out of someone’s trash pickup 😂. She can barely squeeze her vehicle into her 2 1/2 car garage. I do not want this. I had to break myself of these habits years ago myself. I am very good at fixing a lot of things but I finally decided that unless I had a building to dedicate refurbishing merchandise and making a business out of it that I need to stop. I’m better at just pitching something than I used to be. I assess the time and effort to bring something back to life, what it will do for me if I do, and throw it away if it isn’t worth it. The refrigerator topic is good too. I’ve lived out of a dorm sized fridge for years. I eat a specific healthier style diet so old bottles of unused condiments and limited use items are something I don’t have anyway. I usually shop once a week or so, fill it up, eat everything in it until it’s gone and repeat. I think big refrigerators and even deep freezes create a lack mindset without us realizing and get people to stock up and even eat more than they need to. Not having room for extra food around helps in disciplining of eating and doesn’t allow for grazing. Is Costco really helping people stretch their dollar or the elastic in their waste line 🤷‍♂️😅? Bargain shopping food in bulk can be tricky. What’s good for the wallet isn’t always good for the body. BOGO deals aren’t much good if the items can’t be used in a timely manner. I get what I need as needed and waste none of it.
